Ladies, gentlemen, theys, thems, and maybes; here we are yet again! For the sake of wrapping up certain eventualities and moving things past a week-long potential interrogation of a conversation, ONE HOUR has passed, in-game time. This means that those who are looking for stuff can vent their frustrations and deal with what they need to before moving on with the next series of clues uncovered. This also means that folks can reposition themselves in pretty much any place in the area, as it doesn't take all that long to get from town to the vineyard, and vice versa. Another week has passed, another posting cycle has moved around to Update Time! Huzzah! We all made it! Wow! ...gimmie a sec, I'm out of breath now...

Okay, okay I'm good. So, here we have what is basically a continuation of the events set in motion by the characters, which is honestly ideal from my end of things. That being said, New Guy is now in the room with everyone else, and we have an opportunity to point, stare, and potentially judge (silently or otherwise). It is the way of things. With this in mind, Lizbeth is still coming to terms with her situation, the cellar is still cool and mysterious, and we have a touch of inter-party drama. Seems like standard Adventurer stuff to me. Have fun with it and keep plugging away at the unfolding events.

Wellllll... Hmm. There isn't a whole lot to report as different since our last update. This has been mostly dialogue and a smidgen of drama, without so much as an appreciable die roll requested in the meantime. Per usual, get with me about those, as they come up, in our Discord. And any questions about setting or the like. The new posting cycle is upon us, and remember that we are not limited to just one post per cycle, so long as we follow the rules about it as outlined in the initial OOC post.

My, but things are heating up (metaphorically speaking) in the sleepy region of Avonshire. Secrets being delved into with all of the subtlety and grace of a gassy Hill Giant. But hey, life as an adventurer isn't all style and discretion. Point of fact, it rarely is. I guess what I'm saying is: The update has been updated, and you all have some things to do. Huzzahs are in order, I believe, but the work is about to begin.

There is no new information in the OOC part of the update. This is what you all are making of it, with your individual interactions with each other and the environment. Keep doing what you're doing, and remember that the note taking type already has an abundance of stuff to consider in this moment. Hi again, all! Let's skip past the formalities and I'll just explain what you want to know about. To start, yes, Victoria blew the Arcana roll and the idea that this was probably safe was, while a good assumption backed by sound logic, just not true. Baronfjord was correct in his guess that another Wild Magic Surge as incoming. So, what happened to you all? I'll tell you what I can.

Kosara: Suddenly has immense perceptive skills. Darkness looks like day, you can see minute detail.
Baronfjord: Suddenly feels athletic. Advantage on all Str, Con, and Dex rolls.
Daxos: Suddenly feels really tough. Resistance to all forms of damage, tough.
Kathryn: Nothing right now, but I will need to ask questions as we continue this scene.
Victoria: Nothing obvious at first.

Lizbeth: A loud voice narrates her every thought and action. It can be heard clearly from up to 100ft away.

There's no immediate tell of how long this will last. Could be a round, could be permanent. Get with me for die rolls and whatever consequences may occur in the upcoming. Good luck!

Without mincing words, the effects on Kosara, Daxos, and Baronfjord will cease at the end of this cycle. Kathryn's is ongoing, as is Victoria's, and Morty's. Stuff is working differently for different effects, which as we're seeing (or are about to see, eventually) isn't always for the best of everyone involved. Apart from that, please continue with what you're doing, and of course get with me in the Discord for rulings, resolutions, and die rolls. Questions! Also for questions.

Well, he obvious effects of the surge have cleared the area, more or less. All that's left now are questions and some interesting assumptions. Anyway, moving on.

We have a lack of resolution of a die roll within the writing. These things happen. But, the results will abide. Specifically, the initial room search was not attempted in the IC despite the Help Action assist from another character, with the reason being that the wild magic surge messed things up. This is fine. It's even a good reason. Improvised, situational, and such. But with the exception of the randomly teleporting, "in and out within a second" person, no one has actually entered the room yet. I looked over the text again. There's no mention of it. As the rolls were resolved with failure, this means that subsequent attempts to do the same task over again will meet the same result until time passes or something changes the situation. Do with this information what you will.

I do have a way to get things back on track, but it won't resolve until a couple of the people on the main floor get back down to the cellar.

In essence, we're at a standstill here. Nothing has really changed, except that the ones who only had a minute's worth of wild magic effects has passed that time now. So, let's push onward. Let's get this out in the open. First and foremost, TIMERS ARE ON PAUSE. With the posting on this update, we're all going to be dancing the Time Warp again. Take it easy, enjoy the holidays, do your thing without me hounding you about your timers. We will pick back up after the New Year.

That out of the way, if you want to post, go right ahead. Standard posting rules apply, but your timer won't move until we start back up in January. I will remind that there are die rolls that are not resolved in the IC. Please get to these in the IC before moving on to new stuff. You actions effect the setting and what comes next within. Onward and upward, I'm still around if you have questions, conncerns, etc., but remember that it's the time of year that turns me from merely busy to chaotically slumped under a big, gooey pile of Shit To Do. It may take a while. And remind me if it does.

The following is a copy/paste with some alterations from our previous combat encounter. The same rules apply:

Continue to do your thing and speak among yourselves in the OOC Lounge in our Discord. I will be doing checks behind the DM Screen (a restricted room in the Discord server) to determine various behind-the-scenes stuff that your characters are just not privy to as of yet. Please keep this in mind. When combat ensues, in the Location part of your header, fill in with the square you are currently occupying, an arrow ( -> ) and the square you are going to.

Example: P14 -> K18

Now that combat is entered into officially, the posting rules have changed. Roll your initiatives in the Discord OOC and tag me (already done). I will roll for the baddies and we'll get ourselves an initiative order (also already done, but this is to illustrate for the new guy/remind us all 'cause it's been a while). The first person in that list has TWO DAYS to handle requests and post their actions. Actions are to be noted in the spaces provided in your header. When you are done with your actions, TAG THE NEXT PERSON IN THE INITIATIVE ORDER in your post. If it's an NPC, that means it's me.

I must admit that there is a flaw in my system here, as it relates to Reactions. All I can say is that we'll cross that bridge when it comes to it. If you can get in a Reaction and choose to, let me know. I will make the appropriate post edits and tag folks in Discord to alert them to the change. Until a better system is in place, we will work something out.

I have placed everyone on the map already, if it isn't obvious who everyone is, Ko = Kosara, Ka = Kathryn, B = Baronfjord, D = Daxos, V = Victoria, m = Morty (the lower case is intentional), and for the first time, L = Lizbeth.

Circumstances for victory are as follows: Defeat all enemies (what constitutes a "defeat" can vary) and KEEP LIZBETH ALIVE. It also would be smart to note that, because of the restricted environs, area effect spells and large weapon swings are not going to be your best friends here. Use both with caution, I will be applying penalties and possible friendly fire situations for people who are reckless or feel the risk is worth it.

We are open to people applying, so feel free to submit a CS. Just follow the rules as stated in the first OOC post here. Feel free to ask questions as needed, we're a fairly supportive group.

To your question about Discord, we play on both. It's still a forum game, but we declare actions and resolve rolls on Discord, then post here on RPGuild. I will note, however, that this game has isolation as an overarching theme, magic is moderate in the campaign world, and we're in a rural setting. I would request that you create a character that can function believably in that setting, and/or has a compelling reason to be there.

Read through our rules, maybe a bit of the ongoing adventure here, and let me know if you're still interested. If accepted, I will make a determination as to a good narrative point for you to enter.

Alrighty! Our new best friend, Mr. Necrophidius, will be taking over for our dearly departed (crushed to shards) Booty Bones in the Initiative Order. Congratulations on meeting new acquaintances. It's hard, this day and age.

COUPLE OF THINGS:

First off, if you feel like metagaming and looking this creature up, it doesn't officially exist in 5E. I'm a little old school, remember. It has a hard and fast stat block, don't get me wrong. I'm not making this up as I go along (hey, that rhymes!). Moving on, while this guy isn't presenting as very tall, it is long enough and coiled in such a way that it will count as a Large sized creature. While this will reflect on the next map update at the bottom/top of the round, for now, though it says that the location is B6, it presently controls B6, B7, C6, and C7. Top leftmost square listed for the sake of the Location in the header, per usual for Large creatures.

Let's see, what else... Ah yes! I will require a CON Save from everyone in that room, before anyone attempts any sort of action or calls for any sort of roll. Roll in our Discord and tag me so that I may record for the upcoming slaughter fight.

Results of the CON Save are in! Huzzah!!!

Okay, not quite huzzah. bear with me. Kosara, Victoria, and Daxos FAILED THE SAVE. Baronfjord and Kathryn PASSED THE SAVE, albeit barely in the case of the latter. Those who failed are Stunned for one minute, but may repeat the CON Save at the end of the Necrophidius’ next turn, and subsequent turns thereafter.

Now, I didn't want to continue with the whole of the big snakey guy's turn until the save was passed, and I wanted to leave time for reactions, so, Kat and Baronfjord may react to their heart's content, if possible. Otherwise, I will have to move along to the end of this round and the continued actions of the Necrophidius at this time. Good frigging luck here, team.
