Geo hesitated, and Doc cursed under their breath when they did. His grasp was not strong, and his foe was. If it weren't for the precarious angle he was dragging the bandit's head back by then, it very well could have dislodged the grapple. That's how Doc saw them anyway, as an it, or more accurately, just another line of code. This deviation in their headspace made it harder for Doc to rationalise what was going through his damage dealer's head when he refused to act, even if it was just for a moment.

In the second, there was an extended grapple. Doc was shocked by the impressively built physics engine of the game when he initially grabbed their head. The combat in this game really was developed with enginuity and freedom in mi-
Their thoughts left them unprepared for the bandit's rebuttal to their grapple. They where just NPCs, and Doc expected this to be a simple solution to otherwise underwhelming AI. So when the Bandit grabbed Doc's wrist and twisted, breaking their control over their head. They turned to face Doc, who looked just as frozen as their ally had been merely a second before, and their arms locked in a grapple just as the spear came rippling through the bandit's midsection. Relief washed over Doc, but quickly turned into panic when they noticed the spear was still going.

Beggar Bandit took 8 damage

Doctor_Buttz took 7 damage!

Doc looked down, seeing the bladed tip of the spear currently wedged inside them. There was no pain; there was the mental discomfort of feeling an object lodged firmly in their side. Blood oozed from the wound, but without pain or adrenaline, it was more uncanny than anything. Looking up, the Beggar was lifeless, hunched over as it remained skewered on the spear. The blood that flowed from their wound was far darker.

"good job" Doc said, sounding shockingly calm for an individual who had just been stabbed. With one hand, they grabbed the shaft of the spear and pulled while their body moved away, and a soft wheeze escaped Doc as they felt the weapon leave them.
"Did you get too?" They asked, their hands already glowing before they pressed them into the wound in their abdomen. The open wound began to close itself as Doc's hand touched it, the golden glow radiating from their palm trickling into the wound until it closed.

Once their wounds were closed, Doc moved towards Geo, though they seemed hesitant now.
"Is everything alright? You looked like you had a little lag back there"

Geo's hesitation had spawned in from flashes of horrific memory. The blood that had seemed a bit too realistic coming from the enemies from pierced holes. It was, something had pricked at old negative images flashing through his head. While it hadn't been too severe or clinging, old discomforts were clinging to his shoulders. In combat, it probably didn't help as much from the spearman's defensive tactics thus far. The game was designed well enough to feel realistic enough in comparison to plenty of others. The struggle of the enemies made it seem all the more so.

Geo had less control of stabbing into his own ally. A matter which flashed horror into his being. The warrior had been far quicker to yank the weapon out, than he had putting it in and through Doc in the first place. He practically leapt back, a slight surprise to even him. His mask didn't fully hide the animated player's emotions and actions.
He hardly acknowledge the beggar as he'd rip his spear out to stare toward Doc instead. Doc pushing away from the spear would make it easy for the weapon to slip free as well.

"I didn't mean too, that... that was risky, that was crazy, you're alright, right? You're fine, oh gosh that looks bad. We need to get you to a..."
Geo freaked, overlooking Doc's comment. It would take a breath for him to return to normal, or at least lest frantic.

"Huh? Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. Not... Not too much. Think I got hit somewhere, but I'm..."
He took in a long breath, raising his chest and shoulders with it.
It seemed to push some of his nerves down, his tone evening out afterward.

"I think, I got scratched. Could do another attack or so, maybe two before I really need healing. But just, getting used to the game or so. Think this is the first VR game that I've played that's this... reactive."
He admitted. "You, probably had it worse than me. But I'm down to charge another one right away if you're fine."

Geo would step closer to look over Doc, reaching out a hand to nearly inspect the wound left behind.

No mask could hide the immediate fear Geo felt when he had stabbed his ally. Doc was never much good at gauging people's emotions, but the panic in Geo's voice was practically palpable, and the way he jerked about and fussed over Doc long after they had healed themself, Doc could make an educated guess about just what was going through Geo's mind. A tiny smile did creep onto the bland-looking healer's face, though. It was nice to have someone so concerned about their well-being like this, even if it was a game.

As Geo stepped closer, Doc rolled up the baggy cloth around their abdomen to reveal the tiniest sliver of a cut still on their side, just above and to the left of the navel. The clothing itself seemed to heal the wound. No scarring or anything that would show that moments ago, a grievous wound was gaping through them. Barely any blood remained on the clothes, and even that was rapidly fading away.
"See? No harm done." Doc stated with a snicker.

"Hey, if you need to take a moment, it's cool. I know the game is pretty graphic," They stated, offering a warm smile and a hand extended as if to cause Geo to pause in place.
"It doesn't hurt, either. So really, no harm done."

Doc's attention turned back to the remaining guards, who seemed none the wiser to the brisk demise of their fellow bastions. Doc's smile dropped, and the tired, stoic look on their face returned. They let out a tiny sigh, knowing that they were far from the end of this. There were at least six more of these guys inside the bandit hideout, not to mention those basket brutes.

"But when you are ready, we can probably take these guys out no problem."

"Yeah, uh, yeah. Sorry I may have freaked a bit there. Don't know what came over me. Knew the game is deeply immersive but-"
Geo bobbed their left hand in a drumming motion as he pieced the words along. He would take a deep breath, and raise his shoulders to adjust himself back into the world around them. The player, feeling somewhat awkward from the whole situation. He needed the moment to pull himself back into the character, or at least a bit closer to it.

"Hah, good to know there's no secret pain filter or something weird."
"Think that was... a weird plot point in an old silly show or something. But, guess I kinda already knew that. Since haven't been feeling too, banged up either."
He rolled on, though steadied his speech a bit more.

"Alright, let's take these guys out. Think, I want to speed it up a little now. Especially if you can hop in."
"Think.... I can get one to low health, then I'll poke another one one or, aggro it. If you finish the weaker one off, should be in time to join on the next.. or heal if you need."
Geo switched up the plan a bit.

"If not, just let me know and I'll switch to what we need hear."
He'd say, and approach toward one of the bandits with his spear raised for a strike.

It was good that Geo heeded the good doctor’s suggestion to take a moment. They seemed genuinely stressed by the battle. Perhaps having a blade made it that much worse. Doc had been knocking the enemies out with punches and kicks, but an undoubtedly lethal weapon had to feel that much worse.

Or perhaps it was not just that. Stabbing a person you know is real, and they can feel pain, might play a part in it. Especially if they're someone who has offered to help you.

Despite it all, and as rude as it may have been, Doc did feel a level of irritation at this whole situation. Geo was slowing them down, kiting, stress breaks, it was all making this whole dungeon, the first dungeon in the game, mind you, painstakingly slow. Doc had deadlines, a reasonable bedtime they had long since abandoned. That didn't mean they weren't feeling that tether of reality nagging at the back of their mind.

“Sounds good. I'm ready whenever,” the Doc said, putting up their guard and giving one more scrutinizing look at the bird warrior.
“Are you?” they added, eyeing their ally for an inkling of an idea of what was going through their head.

Geo moved forward, and so after slapping their cheeks and rolling their shoulders, Geo followed briskly behind. Geo moved into the zone for one of the guards, but this time, the two of them moved too close. After the first bandit started getting close enough to reach with the spear, the other one stood up and pointed, shouting at the group. The first bit of words the bandits had uttered.

“Looks like we got a live one, boys!” A gruff, grizzly tone announced to seemingly no one in particular. As they did, they reached into their belt and pulled out a particularly large weapon, which looked uncannily like a massive Swiss army knife. With a flick of their wrist, this Navaja unfurled into its full length, and the bladed bandit trudged shortly behind his unarmed companion.

The unarmed fighter approached cautiously, hands low at his waist like a grappler and eyeing the spear anxiously. At this same time, Doc moved to stand beside Geo, waiting for the right time to charge in.
“Make sure they don't surround you. I'll try to make sure you can just deal with one at a time.”

And with that, the first bandit lunged forward, trying to push the spear out of the way as he made a beeline for the avian behind it, moving in to tackle him.

Geo would shift his focus to his center. He was enjoying playing around and getting the feel of the game itself. He had adjusted the movements to develop the play style, but had been sticking to caution. The spear in his hands, felt similar enough to a tool he used in real life. It was quick to pick up, and perhaps he hadn't been taking full advantage of that. It may have been holding back his performance.

Stabbing an actual player, specifically an ally had briefly scared him. Still, this was all just a game. A small amount of damage was nothing to worry about, no one was actually hurt. Doc could also patch up the injuries easily.

"Ready. I'm going to send one your way, so hold out."
Geo would huff out with a returning cheer in his voice.
Shifting the spear from a blocking position to pointing ahead of him.

"Live one, and the only pair making it out of here alive~."
Geo would chirped, shifting his shoulders & spear in a bit of flair.
He was aiming to get his bravado back, and seeing that interesting knife he might need it. The navaja made the spearman almost tempted to switch classes. His eyes flickered to the knife, and then back to the unarmed warrior. He had to remember that these were, starter enemies even if he was still a starter player.

Geo moved with the unarmed fighter as they charged in. He prepared to pivot toward his actual target. As the unarmed fighter pushed the spear away, Geo would pivot with it to get to the enemy's side. His hands would slide upward to below the spearhead.
He'd practically punch to smash the spearhead into the unarmed fighter's upper side. Aiming to shove the unarmed bandit in Doc's direction.
A move meant to focus a bunch of power and momentum partially absorbed from the fighter to crash into them. It was a risky move if it had been used on armed opponents since it left Geo fairly open to get stabbed back.

"That one!"
Geo called out, leading to thrust the butt of the spear toward the knifed opponent's Navaja. It wasn't accurate, but it was a follow up to distract. Hit or miss, flowing into flurry toward the knife-wielder, in an attempt to reset his position.

Geo's tenacious display of martial brilliance happened in a blur, faster than Doc could even react. The unarmed fighter was sent sprawling once Geo weaved them with a simple side step, but the twirl and the fluttering sound of Geo's feathers made such a basic movement graceful and serene. Doc hardly reacted in time, perhaps from exhaustion, or just simply not having the combative initiative Geo had. As such, the movement was slowed by the back of Geo's weapon, not particularly viciously but enough to knock the healer off balance.

Doctor_Buttz took 1 damage!

Geo's incredible strike landed, embedding the blade just above his ribs. The Beggar gasped in pain and clung his eyes closed, but practically bounced off the blade with the force of Geo's strike, stumbling into an equally off-center Doc.

beggar bandit took 9 damage!

The Beggar seemed to completely change his target, using the momentum from Geo's strike to turn into a tackle towards the off-balance Doc. In the frantic attempt to keep him away, Doc flung their leg up, slamming it into the Beggar's stomach, knocking both them and the Bandit to the ground. Doc landed on their but, and the Beggar landed on his back, sprawled out and unconscious.

Beggar Bandit took 2 damage!

Unfortunately, the dramatic and triumphant display did not last particularly long. The knife-wielding bandit had crept up on Geo, and this one appeared to be no pushover. The polearm struck him in the stomach, but he did not falter from the attack, and instead whipped the blade around in his hand, putting the blade in a reverse grip before he plunged it down at Geo's back.

Beggar Bandit Brute took 4 damage!

For a moment, he looked like he would press his advantage. Even if they had parried him, he had passed the true challenge of the spear and closed the distance. But he suddenly hoped back, just as a massive beam of light blasted past the two of them.

Doctor buttz call let the beam escape their hands, still sitting on the ground. The impact never arrived, but they were simply glad they did not hit their ally. When their eyes flickered back, they saw that the bandit had landed in a strange stance. The bandit had put a hand on the ground and was currently placing their weapon in their mouth as they crouched down. Doc's eyes widened once they saw the stance.

"Geo! Dodge!"

In a sudden blur, the Bandit surged forward at blinding speeds. The blade, still in a reverse grip, came rushing for Geo's side as he rushed by him, sliding to a halt behind the Avian from the sheer inertia of movement. Doc had stood up, rushing for the battle, but only managed to get a few steps forward before the interaction occurred.

Geo would let out a awkward groan as the knife plunged into Geo's shoulder-blade. There was a sensation of touch and pressure pushed to the player, but as a relief of game-design there hadn't been a sharp sting of pain. A small relief that Doc probably had felt far less when the spear had pierced into them earlier. The spearman was a warrior type class, but still early level against a stronger mob.

G3O_VAN took 4 damage
Fortunate that he wasn't a caster class, or the damage may have been severe in comparison. Still a a fair chunk.

The blast of light causing a distance between the knife bandit & Geo was a grace. As it came rushing by the avian slid back a few steps into a defensive stance. His spear at his side, and his off-hand placed ahead for balance.
A quick glance brought relief that it was DOC who sent it, and not some sudden aberration of a new mob that was unexpected.

"Thanks for handling the other guy quick enough! That beam, wasn't meant to heal me right?"
Geo called out, he didn't exactly see the skills effects when it procked. The enemy certainly saw it as dangerous, so it was fairly certain.

"On it!"
Geo called back as the bandit surged toward him. Thankfully dodging & defense leaned toward his gameplay style, especially with agility being one of his primary stats. The sperman was already moving when the knife-bandit surge toward them. He was quickly back-stepping toward Doc's general direction. Not enough time to make it to them before the Bandit was basically at his side.

He was rushed since the bandit's could use skills at all.

The rush of movement slipped behind Geo which made defending quickly unlikely, not an option. He didn't have time to turn around, and he was already going backward. A mixture of old talent, and a bit too much of movie influence kicked in. Something, that the game would make easier to do than elsewhere.
Geo would stab his spear into the ground, and kick his body upward.

The avian's wing like arms flapped to head in reverse. As his talon feet would throw up & backward in a inverse pole-vault. While Geo had intended for it to try and sail him further over-head, he hadn't quite gotten the height right. On the other hand, it was perfect for his sandals to kick at roughly face height behind him, and throw the rest of his body back and upward.
A harder position to stab at downward in knife grip, but normally likely to cause a tumble than harm if it weren't moving at quick speeds~.

This bandit was more skilled than the rest, yet as he whipped around to swipe at his foe his blade only met the shaft of his foe’s significantly larger weapon. His artificial intelligence had reacted with shocking speed and adaptability thus far, but nothing could have prepared it for the impressive maneuver made by the Kinara warrior. His attack was countered immediately by a swift kick to the face, sending him reeling backwards off balance.

Beggar bandit brute took 3 damage!

The action must have come to Geo significantly easier than it would have in reality. With a light frame and bird-like appendages, they lifted off the ground with great ease. Buttz looked on in amazement as he made his way to his ally. Watching a Warrior battle was dazzling, a spectacle that almost made them want to pause and simply watch. G30, particularly, was a whirling durvish. They had shown time and time again that not only did they have what it took to win, but they were doing it with flashy moves purely for the fun of it.

Buttz only remembered that they, too, were members of this fighting band when the bandit started stumbling back. They saw an opportunity and took it, rushing forward and then sliding into a low kick like a soccer player. Their legs slide right behind the brute, tripping the foe as they did.

Beggar Bandit Brute took 1 damage!

The bandit seemed dazed by the move, falling to their side hard and staying there for a moment. The damage they had sustained so far was quickly adding up. Not entirely out of the fight, but certainly feeling the accumulated damage. A massive welt was already forming over their eye from the kick, and now a thin scrape covered the cheek on the other side. The wound at their side was still dripping blood. Doc, on the other hand, knew they needed to move, and fast. They were directly in the way of the armed soldier they had brought with them, and scrambled like wild animals on their hands and knees to get away from the melee.
