Geo hesitated, and Doc cursed under their breath when they did. His grasp was not strong, and his foe was. If it weren't for the precarious angle he was dragging the bandit's head back by then, it very well could have dislodged the grapple. That's how Doc saw them anyway, as an it, or more accurately, just another line of code. This deviation in their headspace made it harder for Doc to rationalise what was going through his damage dealer's head when he refused to act, even if it was just for a moment.
In the second, there was an extended grapple. Doc was shocked by the impressively built physics engine of the game when he initially grabbed their head. The combat in this game really was developed with enginuity and freedom in mi-
Their thoughts left them unprepared for the bandit's rebuttal to their grapple. They where just NPCs, and Doc expected this to be a simple solution to otherwise underwhelming AI. So when the Bandit grabbed Doc's wrist and twisted, breaking their control over their head. They turned to face Doc, who looked just as frozen as their ally had been merely a second before, and their arms locked in a grapple just as the spear came rippling through the bandit's midsection. Relief washed over Doc, but quickly turned into panic when they noticed the spear was still going.

Doc looked down, seeing the bladed tip of the spear currently wedged inside them. There was no pain; there was the mental discomfort of feeling an object lodged firmly in their side. Blood oozed from the wound, but without pain or adrenaline, it was more uncanny than anything. Looking up, the Beggar was lifeless, hunched over as it remained skewered on the spear. The blood that flowed from their wound was far darker.
"good job" Doc said, sounding shockingly calm for an individual who had just been stabbed. With one hand, they grabbed the shaft of the spear and pulled while their body moved away, and a soft wheeze escaped Doc as they felt the weapon leave them.
"Did you get too?" They asked, their hands already glowing before they pressed them into the wound in their abdomen. The open wound began to close itself as Doc's hand touched it, the golden glow radiating from their palm trickling into the wound until it closed.
Once their wounds were closed, Doc moved towards Geo, though they seemed hesitant now.
"Is everything alright? You looked like you had a little lag back there"
