I have been thinking a ton about this roleplay!

I get the feeling that Sharod and Loralie are going to be traveling together! Have you thought about Sharod's soulbond? I was gonna originally offer to come up with someone, but I found two references that I adore! I think I am gonna make a traveling companion for Hannah out of one of them! That would give us a "six" person group, when they come together.

I think that is kind of perfect, especially with the split we would have... it's a lot of extra faces though, so I will leave it up to you!



These are the refs I found! I love her so much, she is such a minimalist vibe... and he seems like the cockiest bastard! I would love for his eyes to be from an item or ability that he gets... and works like a devil's deal, bringing him a boon and her a curse. With it being a case of equipping the item before understanding the item.

I've also thought a lot about Hannah, and her class / race / future! I would actually love for her class to be less about casting alternating spells... and more about casting spells in a specific order. Like a game of Simon, if you know what that is...

Basically at the start of the floor she would be told to cast a fire spell. When she does, it would change to Fire then lightning... then Fire > Lightning > Arcane.

The longer she kept the chain going, the better reward she would get. Starting off punishing then tiny and temporary, but as the chain grows the rewards get crazy.

I haven't decided if the outcome of breaking the chain should be known to her... unknown is fun, cause it could be exactly what we need it to be at any time, but known could encourage me / us to write around her tactically breaking the chain which is fun also... idk let me know thoughts.

As for her race, definitely leaning towards an elf or tiefling still... it's ages away, and I don't know if changing is even something I want to commit to.

I think, we should add a monster compendium to the character sheet as post 0. So we can both add refs and tidbits about the monsters we run into!

Really dig the references you dropped!! I'm particularly interested in what you do with second for sure! Which one do you want to be Sharod's soulbound? I'll probably go back and make him a smaller character sheet and stick it in the tab so we have it.

Love the idea of the chain! I haven't given any thought to race yet, I'm not sure it makes sense for Loralie at this point. I think she'd be really happy with the thought of being able to live in her body when it isn't trying to kill her

Did some reading on the corporations that run it.

dungeon-crawler-carl.fandom.com/wiki/… Looks like the Squim one has done them before, but they don't make a lot of money. This seems like something they'd want to fix. You cool with having the Corp run the crawl? Or would you like Borant? Does much matter to me!

We never really defined the rules to the Soulbound thing other than being disconnected from each other on some floors/earlier floors, but then coming together. And also dying when you die. Anything else we want to add? XP share (busted?)? Once a floor you can channel the other's powers? I don't know most of the ideas I've come up with just seem maybe a little too busted.

If you want your other character to pop into the guild hall here or after that makes sense! Or we can have Sharod and her meet over the IM system. Just lmk what you're thinkin!

I will work on Sharod's Bound, once I have a character put together I will run it by ya! My first goal is to get this character settled. I will then write her in to the safe room after the announcement! I think her and Hannah will travel together, Zoe will definitely be late due to the Wet Wily's being more active in the areas Hannah killed them... trying to figure out wtf happened lmao.

I am unsure about her, and working on a couple of different personalities... Some that don't work with the ref I chose! I'm such a scatter brain, luckily once I have something I love... I tend to complete it LMAO!

Squim works for me! I think it works, cause if they had a bad crawl last time... They'd want to spice it up with something interesting this time!

I think we should have a whole-assed roster of refs stocked away from crawlers, friend and foe! Ref 2 is sick, I love the feral energy of ref 1!

And then! I flat out didn't respond to your question about special rules regarding the bond. I think they should share a living area, and that they should eventually be able to group up and share with even more people!

They get 60 minutes between now and the 3rd floor, and anytime they spend (outside of saferooms) together eats the clock?

I also think classes / skills / boons/ curses should be flavored with the bond in mind. I.e. abilities that cause some sharing of spells or stats... or stealing time from other teams clocks. Gifts from sponsors, gods, npcs being themed around the bond.

All sorts of crazy stuff should come from their classes, spells, and loot. Even stuff like sharing spells, abilities, stats, even exp share!

Agree on the roster of crawlers! Gotta come up with how best to organize our refs haha

Absolutely love Zoe so far, and I think opposite Sharod that'd be a really good dynamic. Plus with Hannah and Loralie, Sharod and Zoe feel like a balance to their more, feral? energy lol.

This idea is absolutely killer, what if on the later floors they're on, they can spend something to extend the clock, but the price is brutal?

I also really dig the classes/skills/boons/curses affecting this^ mechanic would be really really fun. I think Sponsors would really kick it up a notch too- what if in later levels all time is sponsored. Your sponsor can buy time for you to use, or not to use (bidding war?). That could cause a huge amount of interesting conflict.

So... again been thinking about this, I am loving this.

Are we gonna allow soulbounds to work together permanently? We brushed on the idea of having them eventually team up without being separated. That the first 2 floors would be mandatory, and after that they could choose to stay separated for rewards.

60 minutes is a wildly short clock, but I think that it works. I think that sponsored time, should be something extra or stronger, but something that gets used all at once. So it's a boon of 10 minutes, but it's a block of ten minutes, instead of 10 minutes that they can cut up and use. Maybe sponsored time can be extra annoying, or something... like spawning in dungeon ads for who ever sponsored the time.

I do like the idea of them losing time... even though it's so painful! Especially getting shafted by sponsors stealing time from them.

I think the soulbounds should be permanent, but I think something interesting on later floors would be a forced separation after they think they're past that. I'm about 75% through my post! Working out some errors and pacing, then it'll be up!

I changed saferooms a bit, but it fits with the group dynamic that our season of dungeon crawler worlds has!

I also added in a bit more alien vibes, like making the soda machines in the restaurants stock off-world sodas.

I love the spiders, they are amazing! I have arachnophobia, if the first monster I encountered in the world dungeon was a giant spider... I might die of a heart attack, I wonder if that's an achievement... lmao!

I'm thinking about introducing another monster, maybe something frost... Like Slushie themed or something! Have the different flavors/colors be different classes!~ idk xD

As long as you let me know if we go longer than a week without a post- I'm chillin' :) Not going anywhere here. This RP does require more brain on average for me to write though- which is why I think I've been struggling with speed here haha. I love both of Hannah's fancy items, and I think that's all she is gonna get for the first floor. Maybe one more, but not for awhile! Need to get Zoe a good knife. I think she is gonna be stuck with her breaking kitchen knife for awhile, maybe...

I hope Zoe doesn't feel kinda "there" in my posts. I'm trying to keep the spotlight on Hannah, but provide some Zoe time as well...

I think that Hannah and Zoe are handling the stress well, in the short term. Replacing their fear/stress/anger with a focus on "playing the game", which will probably bite them in the ass later.

I love that our teams are having semi opposite reations to the stress/dispair of being pulled into this circus. I am so hooked on Sharod and Loralie, they seem like best buds before the dungeon, and are processing these complex emotions at different speeds causing this friction!

Loralie's anger feels well paced, and misplaced. It feels relatable, like I can understand her... she spent her whole life stressing about her heart, and if it was suddenly cured by any other means... she would probably be cheering, but the illness was replaced by the moshpit of problems that is "the world dungeon."

Good to know! None on the top of my head but if something new and creepy is coming up, I'll try to tw it at the beginning maybe.

Your descriptions are just fine! Like I said, just don't linger too long on the grotesque and I'm good. Hell I wrote about the janitor and a gnarly decomposing body lol.

I like her items too! The crown of overflowing chalice is really neat, and I love the Outlaw's grit ability.

As far as Zoe- I think she's been a little mysterious in your writing so far, but that kind of plays into who she is? Also- I think as her and Hannah's relationship changes and plots ebb and flow, we'll see a lot of different stuff. Also- you've been taking on a lot of the dungeon rules exposition- which is really important- but also takes time! Can't wait to see how they change more!

Me too! Seems like Zoe and Hannah are kind of crushing it to be honest, which is a nice FOIL to Loralie absolutely being off her rocker. She's kind of playing a bit more 'mad'(crazy) than I'd originally intended, but I'm gonna keep morphing it here toward the anger angle. I'm not used to tapping into those emotions really- so it's new for me, so I'm really glad it's landing for you!

You're doing a crazy good job at getting the rules of the dungeon laid out, and I'm really thankful! Hopefully it doesn't feel inequitable at all- just let me know if you want some help/etc!
