Hello once more, Adventurers! We have stepped out of Initiative order and, as far as anyone can tell, we are officially out of bad guys! Congratulations to all of you who didn't die. Those characters who still had the Stunned condition find that it will wear off over the next few seconds after the messy passing of our late friend, Mr. Necrophidius. Rejoice and start patching up those scrapes.

Now that we're out of Initiative, standard posting rules apply. I will not be doing an official update until my usual spot in the week, here in a few days. HOWEVER, timers have restarted. Do what you feel your characters might in this instance, now that combat is done. Don't worry about the "two post minimum" rule for now, ending combat resets everything. To reiterate, the Mosswaters are upstairs, still fully prepared for the Tea date and quite possibly ignorant of ...most... of what just happened. There was a knock at the door, which admittedly only the couple in the Taproom knew about, but it might come up in conversation, so there's that.

Anyway, best of luck with the upcoming. It looks like there is both loot, information, and questions aplenty for those who choose to look into it. Oh! And tea. Lest we forget the tea.

And we are officially back. Yes, stuff was kept intentionally open and vague this go-around and yes, not a lot has occurred from the end of the skirmish. Don't worry, there are reasons for it. For now, please enjoy basking in your victory and prepare for what may come next, and what will come eventually. We're back on regular posting times now and there's quite a bit to accomplish.

Hit me up with questions, concerns, die rolls, etc., in our Discord, and good luck.

Not much to say about his update. You all know where you're going, you know what you're doing. This is more of a downtime sort of post-skirmish aftermath with time to compare notes and get some recearch/discussions in. If you need a foil to openly discuss your findings with, we have curious NPCs who are there to listen (and thusly inform us all on a very non-meta level). Now is the time for discovery and questions, so bay all means, keep them coming.

Per usual, Discord is our medium of communication for die roll requests, concerns, questions, and the like. Thanks for still being here.

To start, we have lost one of our players due to extended inactivity. Very sad. I bear no malice toward the guy; he acted in a manner that was decent overall. All the same, it's a bummer. AND now we have an opening. Huzzah. Until the opening is filled, posting rules go back to out "abbreviated cast list" scenario.

Moving on, let's wrap up the exchanges as best we can with the cellar fight afterparty, or as it's commonly known, the Mosswaters' Teatime Visit. They've got the goodies, you're hosting. Straightforward. Let's just assume that we're taking our time, patching up wounds, casting our spells, and dealing with things. Urmdrus is present and not being a very chipper contributor to the conversation, Victoria is trying to detect magic and identify everything, and Lizbeth is having another moment. We have stuff to do, so let's handle it on the abstract, covering the span of time of Tea, and a bit beyond if needed to resolve stuff. Let me know the overall goal and/or what you want to accomplish during this time, who you want to politely interrogate, etc., and I will arbitrate.

Once again, if I missed something or if you wish to request a die roll, etc., let me know in our Discord. I'll be around someplace. Eventually. We hope.

And Daxos makes his official exit.

This bit of unfortunateness aside, we're going to basically continue with the same deal as our last update. Tea is being served, people are in the middle of conversations, observations are being made. It's an interesting time to be alive and adventuring. Ooh! With tea! Lest we forget.

Getting business out of the way - We officially have an opening, if anyone knows and/or can vouch for interested persons. Standard character making rules will apply.

Finally, per our usual, get with me in our Discord for questions, comments, if you think I missed something, or for die rolls. Thanks again!

Let's review:

Here are the items that were made available to the party, which were not claimed by our dashing Bard or present NPCs. I mention this purely because, at present, no one has stepped up to officially claim the items in question. I assure you that, within the context of IC interactions, it has been established that you're free to use the stuff available, and frankly, I need to know where they're all going. If anyone's feeling a little frisky, I'm sure NPC's wouldn't mind a piece of magic to elevate their lives - but that might be misconstrued as un-adventurish of you. Otherwise, anything not specifically claimed by the end of this posting cycle will be retained by Lizbeth.

To be as open as possible with the items in question, the unclaimed ones are listed here, with images and descriptions:

There are three other items which have been recovered from the "study" downstairs, but your friendly neighborhood Ritual Identifier only discussed them in passing, and/or were claimed. The first one was mentioned out loud as a "Bloodwell Vial", briefly mentioned in the notes of Arnaud L'Rose as "The Well." The other items not reside in Victoria's possession. One is a set of hair combs, the other is a wand made from a shard of obsidian with a wire wrap handle. As she did not leave written information about those, one needs to either guess from post details/dialogue what they do, or resort to IC conversation.

ANYWAY, you all know the drill. Get with me in our Discord for questions, clarifications, die rolls, etc., and best of luck with the upcoming.

Huzzah, huzzah. We are doing stuff. Along with all of the stuff that we're doing, let's get the loot division correct, with the proviso that I set up last time:

Baronfjord is keeping the Geta of the Long Kick. Okay. All good.
Kathryn is keeping the Misty Step Boots and Amber Trowel. Also good.
Victoria is keeping the Combs of Beauty and Obsidian Fang. Figured.
Kosara has claimed the Wand of Wonder. Okie and/or dokie.
NPC Lizbeth retains the Bloodwell Vial, in addition to her armor upgrade.

What this leaves is, in no particular order:

- Wand of Disturbing Smiles
- Ilexxian Taper

Per IC and OOC statements made, these are unclaimed and subject to the results of the previous discussions.

Anyway, it looks like we're starting to get better equipped and informed as a party, so by all means, let's continue. Ask what questions you need to, make whatever plans you think are best. If you need a die roll, have a question, need stuff in general, get in contact through our Discord and I'll try to get it sorted asap. Oh, and if I forgot to mention it earlier - HUZZAH!

To start, my apologies for the late update, and thank you very much for your patience. Sleep issues are not remotely as fun as they're made out on the interwebz. ANYWAY, that in mind, I am pretty sure that I missed a detail or three in the transition someplace. Just get with me in the Discord and we'll figure it out. With these bits and pieces of drudgery aside, I am trying to wind down the drama that is Teatime in Avonshire, hopefully with folks getting their own plans worked out with the information provided. And hell, if you need a refresher, I've got notes from earlier in this Act together for just such an occasion, just point me in the direction of the subject matter and I'll divulge as best I'm able.

Once again, my apologies for the late post. For die rolls, adjudications, and/or any of the stuff mentioned above, get with me in our Discord and we'll get stuff done. Thanks!

Oh, and of course, we have one slot open for a player, just in case they don't mind coming in near the end(ish).

Ello ello once again, another update to be updated, as is my heathen proclivity. But let's keep this short, I got outs to pass and don't feel like gilding the lily at this hour:

For those of you going after the remaining books - have fun. I had already figured on throwing you a bone with what you were able to snatch and run with, but, if you want to nab the rest of them and roll a high enough Investigation check, then consider a second bone thrown. Make sure, like the Afroman of legend, that it's good and high. (cue the music)

Folks putting the screws to Urmdrus - He's speaking Common as a second language, and while he might have passed all the high school courses for it, he's not 100% fluent. Keep this in mind as the interrogation continues.

Past those points, it looks like we're all making some headway, even if it doesn't look like you are. Believe me here. Or don't; your call. I'm all good on this end. And if you need something from this end, like a a die roll, arbitration, or exciting images of coffee mugs, get with me in our Discord and we'll see what happens. I'm not sure if a Huzzah is in order, so I'll just leave it at that.

...

Okay, I lied. HUZZAH!!!

Another update, another opportunity to soar to narrative heights upon wings of feather and wax. But we all know how that story went. Very sad. Anyway, let's get to the crunchy part. As mentioned in the Discord, the deal with the books was abstracted by die rolls and such earlier, to reveal general information at that time. HOWEVER, as there has been a consensus of opinion formed within the IC by means of declaring actions and having character conversations, I'm going to toss a section of osseous matter at you all. Everyone lookin ghtrough the books gets a free Investigation check. ROLL HIGH. However, even with a high roll, information regarding plot movement will not be an epic reveal. But things may yet be recovered from the writings.

We are winding the day down. I know that we left off at "Teatime," but it looks like the only plans for the evening were from NPCs, so... yah. Let's assume that we are going over the haul, the books, naptime, study, etc., for the time being. If your characters do have something pressing elsewhere, get with me and we will work it out.

And as always, speak with me in our Discord for rolls, rulings, and/or questions about stuff going on. Or if I missed something that needed to be addressed. I do that sometimes.

Once again, we are moving to a winding down of the day. Yes, it's a bit of a skip, but just in case random encounters begin to do their thing, which I will note is very rare if you're inside of friendly walls, everyone has the benefits of a SHORT REST. Congratulations, you earned it.

Meanwhile, out in the world, stuff is getting dark pretty fast. If there's stuff that you need your characters to do, chores or the like, upkeep on equipment, whatever, you're at the very last possible opportunity. As of the next update, I am very much rolling us over to full nighttime, and any of the shenaniganry which may follow. Be ready to set up sleeping arrangements, as you've got a pretty full house in there.

Per our usual, please get with me about die rolls, stuff I might have missed, and/or to adjudicate stuff which might need adjudication. Best of luck, and thanks again for participating in the oddness that is Avonshire.

And we are rolling right along, tying up loose ends on the day. Night has fallen, more or less. Everyone is under the same roof for now, and no one else is dead yet. Now, a lot of folks might just call that a win, but Adventurers are as scary group, so... yeah. There isn't a lot to report, and no additional player rolls were called since the last update, so I assume we are going to coast right along with this.

Soup is quite literally on, so if anyone needs a reason to rouse themselves from the indiscreet fingers of unconsciousness (Kosara), you have an excuse to. Congratulations. Likewise, if the rigors of the day cause your character to lapse into the just mentioned Fingees of Indiscretion, well, a big bowl of soup is a great place to land one's head. Just saying. It worked for Conan, sort of.

Per our usual, get with me in our Discord about questions, concerns, rolls, etc., and best of luck with those sleeping arrangements.

And here we are, in the middle of yet another update. Coffee has been swilled, things have been typed, story has advanced slightly. It looks like there's a bit of friction in Avonshire, which is we're bring honest has been the nature of things for a while now. In any case, we have hit a point where things are winding down. Wrap up what you need to for the evening, set watches, etc., and let me know if you have any eleventh hour rolls that you need arbitrated in the meantime. Of course, get with me in our Discord for all of that. Huzzah, and huzzah. Random encounter rolls to begin anew.

@Zman
I will review your CS and crunch a little math to make sure you're in the right place. If you're insistent on squeezing in here as we enter the endgame of Act II, great, but let's make sure that there is a valid reason for a character like this to be present, in the narrative. Part of the setting here is an oppressive sort of isolation, due to seasonal and geographical factors. Bringing in new blood to the area would have to have a supporting reason.

Alright, this update is a little shorter than most, the reasons why being twofold - 1) We're winding down for the night, barring the nocturnal proclivities of individual members of the party, and 2) Most of the characters are interacting with each other, with less being directed toward the NPCs. This works just fine for me, as it encourages intraparty social stuff and less writing for me. In any case, moving along, same stuff applies involving questions, dice rolls, and our Discord.

Best of luck with the upcoming, and events of the next day.

Well, the good news is that the night passed without further incident! Yay! Of course those "totally not cursed" brandy dreams are getting a little more intense. Maybe there's something to that. ...anyway... Go ahead and post for whatever you feel the need to for the time over the night and get everyone to morning. To be frank, I'd like to move this along a bit so that we have a good opportunity for our newest player to enter the game proper.

Which reminds me, @Zman - Let's assume that Aric is in Avonshire Township right now, about to set off (or setting off) in the direction of the Rose River Vineyard, to the south. It will at least give you something to start out with until we can catch up. Get with me if you want details relevant to whatever you might have in mind. The road will be somewhat difficult to travel upon without a means of conveyance, due to the snowfall, but the area around the Township at least has seen some use from the locals and is a little tamped down.

Now then, for those of you who are working on skills, proficiencies, etc., today can be a day to further your self-education. Figure out how to place it into your routine and/or plans for a respectable portion of the day, and the points will continue to tally for the End of Act payout. AND AS OUR USUAL - get with me in our Discord about resolving die rolls, questions, concerns, or if I forgot something important. Thanks a bunch!

Sounds good to me. That feels like a very natural starting point for Aric.

I think before setting out, he probably would have spent at least a little time in Avonshire trying to piece together what he could from rumors, inconsistencies in stories, and whatever people were actually willing to say out loud about Harvestide and Cavendish. Enough to convince him something about the situation still does not sit right, but not enough to give him a complete picture.

If you want, I would also be completely fine rolling a few skill checks to determine what information he may or may not have managed to uncover before leaving town. That honestly feels very in-character for him.

As for the road conditions, I imagine he would be traveling on foot and making slower progress because of the snow. He is used to rough travel and poor weather, but not in a way that makes him immune to it. More stubborn than comfortable.

The overall setup honestly fits the tone I had in mind for him very well.

As mentioned in my updates, we usually run die rolls and the like in our Discord. That said, I do not want to put introductory character stuff behind the firewall of a die roll. Regardless of rolls or lack thereof, Aric will get pointed in the direction of the Rose River Vineyard. Now, if you want to have him hear rumors about what went on over Harvestide, sure. Keep the roll open-ended, meaning, you roll and information will be more useful depending on how high you get it. If you want to use Arik's passive Investigation, we can work it that way.

Road conditions aren't great. Fresh snowfall om top of heavy snowfall and a partial melt make for a less optimal road. Instead of making it truly difficult terrain, it can be traveled at 1.5 times the speed without worrying about skill checks. Being out in the freezing temperatures without appropriate gear or some other countermeasure for a good while will require a Survival check. It takes about eight hours to reach the Vineyard from the Avonshire Township, so we're looking at twelve hours at safe speed. This is travel by merchant wagon, mind you. It is going to be a jaunt. It is not snowing presently, wind is more or less calm. There are villages along the way if a stop is needed.

And the new day has moved to a good, full dawn. Things are progressing in the very normal way they might, were everyone not secretly in mortal danger. So that's nice. There isn't really a lot to add to things past the last update except to continue with the actions already committed to, so if anyone wished to make a skill check or die roll of some kind to prompt an action, interaction, or observation, we're in a good spot. get with me in our Discord, per our usual, and we'll resolve stuff.

Now for @Zman - we're in a bit of a holding pattern for the meantime. Your timer wont start until your first post, and information for that post will resolve following the results of your Investigation roll in our Discord, and declaration of intent. At the present, your man is either in Avonshire Township, or on the road moving away from it, in the direction of the Rose River Vineyard. More exact information can be dropped once we get together on the details. Suffice it to say, Avonshire Township is the largest town in the agricultural region of Avonshire, and here's a basic map to get a feel for the place:

The Vineyard is to the south, if that helps. It might also help to imagine the place covered in white, and the water mostly iced over. Winter is a'here.

It's me again, which means our update has been updated. No no, no applause, just throw money. But anyway... Go ahead and get your rolls in for whatever you intend on doing in or around the Vineyard. It occurs to me that, the ones who are traveling all day aren't going to be playing with the same rules on the progression of time as the ones poking about the Vineyard for a good long while, and/or working on increasing their areas of study. So we have to reconcile this by speeding through epic buttloads of hours in the day and reduce them to a few simple rolls. Otherwise, were going to have a lot of RP updates that look like, "You pass another series of snowy hills. What do you do?" and frankly, that's less fun than I imagine it sounds. And it doesn't sound great. Let's take the opportunity to speed through most of the day, shall we?

To that note, as per our usual, get with me in our Discord about die rolls, questions, concerns, etc., and thanks for joining me on the epic and spiffy tale of Avonshire: Wintering In Wine Country. Huzzah!
