@Xyzzt Ok wow… First things first, I appreciate the effort you’re putting in, but this is a LOT. It’s supposed to be a simple slice of life type story. Not a quest of characters seeking enlightenment. I don’t know if you can/want to, but but simplifying this character would go a long way. Use @Azure Bubbles as a guide or myself. Azure RPs with me a lot so he can usually nail the tone I go for.

So, how do classes work from here on? Because I'm not sure what I'm allowed to do in terms of classes or the overall narrative.

As far as classes, you're free to control the professors as NPCs provided you don't do anything that conflicts with their personalities or canon. If you're going to collaborate with anyone, you can work out how the class would flow together. In general, LA classes would be categorized as:

- Lecture Halls (Fully in class)
- Satellite Classes (Field Study/Local)
- Remote (Distance Learning) Think if Professor Sycamore does a class from Kalos
- Field Trips (Travel Abroad)

So, in my post, I know I didn't explicitly state that Ryoka returned her pokémon to their pokéballs, but I meant to imply it when she gathered up their pokéballs to leave her dorm room, which is why I brought it up here. I didn't think it would be the default assumption that pokémon are let out during classes; I figure they'd take up quite a bit of room, and I don't imagine, for example, that Jason's Nidoking is messing around in the corner.

So, in short, Ryoka enters the classroom with none of her pokémon out. She was messing around with her Ditto in her dorm room. Jason couldn't have seen a Ditto related to her, and Jenny hasn't released her Ditto yet either.

It's not that important, but it's an inconsistency I was getting caught up on because pointing out her Ditto is in her pokéball IC felt passive-aggressive and sending it out apropos of nothing to retroactively match the comment felt awkward.

The problem I have with actualizing a post right now is that we are currently in a class where the only professor is Jason, and I don't think (?) you intended to give us control of him. I'm not sure if you meant we were allowed to skip ahead to whatever classes we felt like or what, but it seemed like you expected us to be able to pick up what you were putting down from just that post and I didn't feel like my question was actually answered in the specific. In the current circumstances, where the students are in a lecture hall and the teaching content is completely ambiguous, Ryoka is going to default to listening quietly like a "good" student, so there's nothing of any real substance to post about.

From context I'm guessing you want to run a sandbox-style RP where everyone just does whatever they want, as opposed to something more rigidly on rails, but I'm not sure to what extent, and if you explained the way you want to run the RP anywhere, I must have missed it.

So, yeah. To repeat myself, how do classes work from here on? Specifically this class, and when we're allowed to leave/end the current class and transition to other classes or non-class settings. I'm not sure what I'm allowed to do in terms of the overall narrative, my character's class scheduling, or arbitrary time advancement. As an example, can I make up an event (e.g. a battle tournament), skip ahead to another class, and start talking about said event to another character in that new class? What about skipping to the end of the day to follow up on preparations for that event in my next post?

I'm in a similar boat. @Ryik is articulating much of what I'm confused about. As a non-GM, my expectation is always I can do whatever with my character (or characters in this case given we have a team of Pokémon). Even in a casual, sandbox RP, I'm not assuming I can control any other characters or even how other characters react to my actions. So learning we could control Professor characters was news. I was expecting us to have to propose classes and delegate time for them OOC, but I'm not sure how you want that structured.

I guess to put it in simple terms, if you take a dungeon crawler RPG, I expect to be able to maybe set my character's loadout, describe their background, and determine how they interact with the dungeon laid out in front of them based on that information. The dungeon itself, what the monsters do, what's behind the door, NPC dialogue, etc. is going to be up to the GM, with some input from the players upon request. If you want us to take some ownership of components I would usually expect a GM to take care of, that's cool but I feel like it needs to be communicated better. Because if we can just totally control a class and what happens within it whenever, it sounds like a mess of us sharing short stories as opposed to an RPG.

So yes. The RP is pretty sandbox and you’re free to control any characters provided they aren’t other players (or if you’d decide to collab that’s cool). This first class was mainly a set up so all the characters “meet” and then you can decide where to go from here. I don’t intend for all of you to sit through Jason just lecturing people so feel free to skip ahead as you like. My idea was that - outside of just attending classes - players would be able to pair up and do their research together or participate in field studies in other regions. The ecology class also serves as a means of keeping the players connected so they all have a place to return to/touch base in before another break off happens.
