Anyone interested in an alternative school set much like the novel Ender's Game?

I'm going to be occupied with the literal map and lore so probably no high-tier alien subplot. I am very interested in the social dynamics and plot plotlines as such they unfold when it comes to a cast rping . But yeah, what has your little miscreant done to end up in a lunar detention base? 3000AD for a near future vibe. I'm thinking 12 to 18 for an age range for students and staff can be played as well. Any other considerations? I would like to lean into a new millennial of climate regions due to global warming of the great plains becoming arid and coastlines morphing, along with geopolitical mergers n such. Ya know, the usual. I'm cooking up lore right now sooo any takers? We can use this space to hash it out.

@KactusPunch I do love the age of the climate and the global warming. I am a bit of a science freak. But since you mentioned that you want to to make no high tier alien subplot, and the social dynamics

What if the detention school is actually not really a detention school, but a place where children are set out to recover water (there is actually water on the moon) and minerals such as oxygen, iron, silicon and stuff from the moon soil called - Lunar Regolith(its an actual thing).

But there can be some sort of internal conflicts between some of the staff who think that children even though they are mischievous and troublesome shouldn't be doing stuff like this. But on the other hand some staff members might also actually insist that the kids should be doing stuff like (what if the reason behind this is because they were also once students of the same school and don't know how to handle their trauma).

There can maybe be different teachers for different class (mining for water, extracting regolith, sorting the regolith into the different mineral, maybe even packaging because they have to send it back to the earth that needs repairing from the impact of climate change). Their can be a point system where each student is ranked, and maybe the hgihest rank can get a trip back to earth and get out of the detention base.

Becuase its only 1 student in the entire school that can be allowed to leave the base competion will be tough. Some becomes friends but later get betrayed, others have trust issues and so on.

maybe a plot twist - what if in the case that the first position rank is tied with other people, then they do like a match of some sort like the hunger games where it is literally just survial through and through or you get injured (maybe even die).
Similar to hunger games where teh rich people on earth can maybe if they like the player they will send a food parcel or something ...

Let me know what you think about it

@Blue Wolf Love the additions! I deter from hunger game ultimatums but other than that those all sound like great basis and motivators. plus mining would make sense, H3 helium is supposedly rare and plentiful there too. Perhaps a Principle's List of high achievers that get gifted a ride back. The movies Holes but MOON is what im kinda going for

@Expendable That's pretty much the right sort of lore sprinkled in alll around, from Gulf Invasion 7 to organ-jacked to hacking your own arm lol.

@TruckKun No worries we're all hashing out, the collective effort will be good from the vibe.

For everyone interested, the Moon in this universe analogs with modern day Patagonia in terms of access and rarity.

That's what I was going for really. I'll be fluffing uo the lore as the week goes on.

Because of her age—and her extraordinary intelligence—she was sent to the Lunar Juvenile Detention AcademyThe Academy of Lunar Sciences, where gifted but dangerous youths are educated under constant supervision instead of serving conventional prison sentences.

I like Nova, and we do need official name for the place.

i have a very snobbish name for the base

'The Lunar academy for the re-education of the troublesome gifted'
Possibly commonly called 'Moon Juvie'

@KactusPunch Oh yeah. I was formatting out the information using AI, so it must have slipped in there. But yes we do need a name for the base

@Blue WolfAh, I havn't went the AI route yet. I might try and find some character or landscape generators for the staff and lore or the place. The Academy of Lunar Sciences sounds power n vague enough for some juvenile encouragement via ecopolitical means.

I'd say at least 100 students, 20 direct staff, and just as much auxiliary staff that is nomadic between the worlds of Moon and Earth. The earth is currently facing solar flare that amp up the UV expose to lethal amounts in new regions on the planet, forcing an accelerated exodus underground, into shrinking polar zones with new resources, and even into space such as reclaiming old mining bases into new found labor avenues.

@KactusPunch can my char have decided that life on the moon is better than life on earth, an instead of trying to get off the moon himself, he helps others return to earth

Sure, but why help others return to a place they have forsaken themselves? A lifer at this base would mean becoming staff so I suppose it would be an eventuality. It would be curious to explore though so yeah

@KactusPunch well you initially described it as a lunar detention base, so there is a decent chance atleast some were sent unwillingly. Also, i have read the first few enders game books and also through shadow of the giant

Having read through this, I'm wondering if there's a chance that Yev might actually be allowed to wear civilian clothing, not this prison outfit from the SD9 Detainment Facility.

Yes and yes, tho I do like the Bioplastic idea quite a bit. I'm forming wall'o'text with some landscape pic dispersions for the OOC currently, and little things like that really help out. I figure the domes will be the more domestic areas; with the mines being the older infrastructure(backroooms moon edition).
