Taijutsu is good with the exception of gates.
Try something for a change like stealth and traps? Like make use of sealing jutsus on your taijutsu like tagging them with tags and seal which gives an effect depending on what is encrypted on the seal.

Well, not about one or another...

Im just gonna go ahead and post all my three (so far *sparkly eyes*) characters in the OOC when its up and its up to mister GM to decide if they are accepted or not.
I am working on even more chars so get prepared (Ill also post them in order of 'most wanted')

I will be working on two characters.
I don't know if this is allowed or what, I am making a character that is just even more mysterious than Obito before identity and Kakashi's face. I intend to make a character whom will be mysterious, don't know how it looks like and the gender is mysterious but known by the Kage and few people only. lol....

Either you're grossly overestimating the gates, or vastly underestimating other forms of Taijitsu. Could you see Lee or Gai being faster than A or Nine Tailed Chakra Mode Naruto? No, because despite the massive drawback of the Gates, it's been passed over nintaijutsu and Bijuu things and even space time ninjutsu. Sure it might be getting some love in the manga right now, but...hey, those who're reading know what's going to happen. And heck, this is coming from a gates fan.

Pain did a better job at being mysterious than Tobito....

Pretty much what he said. Although my Ninja would revolve around creating different types of Earth Golems, other than the usual big, slow, mindless powerhouses.

I guess it'd be somewhat similar to Sai's jutsu in that he would be summoning things to attack/defend for him.

I think I'll go with a genjutsu-user for my genin. Have never done it before and it would be fun to see how it works.

I'm glad you like it.

And I've yet to see an effective genjutsu-user in an RP that isn't an Uchiha or without some kind of Dōjutsu. So that'll be interesting to look out for. (Assuming that you don't plan on utilizing either of those, of course)

My character uses animal summons as a bloodline technique and can draw from their natural abilities to do powerful taijutsu techniques. I call it Beast Release.

Just like you I haven't seen a good genjutsu-user in an rp. I think it's mainly because genjutsu isn't really used that much in the series (except uchiha) and people haven't really understood how powerful it can be.

That's encouraging to hear. And I think you're right, people tend to abandon Uchiha-genjutsu abilities for the same old Susano'o, Amaterasu, etc.
