Only original characters. No canons of the games, just same basic principals.

Looking for a small group (probably 5 at the most) of advanced, committed players who like to collaborate and create together.

I've thought of a few other ideas, but I'm not going to post any other details until I see some interest.

Ok, what I'm thinking is, and keep in mind this up for modification....

We are in the future... perhaps 20 years from now. Between the present and then (we'll say 10 years ago), Animus tech grew a lot and kind of became a household staple, based on how far along they were with it in Black Flag (headset). Subsequently, it ended up being banned by all world governments. They couldn't have people looking back at the past and discovering their secrets, the Templars being exceptionally afraid. If you were caught with one, you'd be imprisoned.

SO, 10 years after that we have our characters. Somehow they have gotten their hands on an Animus headset, perhaps two sets. They use them to go back to present time (2014), or early 2000s, later 2000s, or even around the time the tech was banned. They investigate current, near-past, or near-future events/conspiracies.

I want there to be some ultimate goal in mind, and that's where the collaborating comes in. I figure placing them in the near-past/present/future enables us to not have to put too much research and effort into our conspiracies, assuming we're all up to date on current events. Obviously a good one might be something like 9/11. It also enables us to create our very own near-future conspiracies. So I think there's a lot of wiggle room there.

If anyone is interested in going further into the past, I'll listen to the idea. Obviously we have plenty of time to go over multiple time periods, if we want. However, I will not do time periods that have already been accounted for in the game.

Hmm, I don't know now... I was initially down for something historic. If we were to set it during the modern day we would have to tread lightly in terms of current events. I don't feel that something as tragic as 9/11 should be trivialised like this. I don't know. It depends on what everyone else wants.

It's an example. Obviously nothing would be done to play down something horrific like that. Or any horrific events. Nothing played or written here would diminish the events in any way. Merely suggest that things aren't always what they seem, just like in the games. But I don't believe just because something happened farther back in the past that it's any better.

As I said, I'm open to suggestions. And that eventually we might go back farther. Obviously I'm interested in certain eras, like feudal Japan... but I think for now that it's easier to stay in the present so that we don't have to do a lot of digging.

Alright, I can sort of see that. Two more questions though:

1.) Are our characters to be Assassins/Templars or an unconnected party that gets its/their hands on the animi?
2.) Will we, at least initially if we stick to the modern day setting, be having our characters relive the memories of their parents? Would they have had to have had significant exposure to these events? Or will the animi work differently in this instance?

1. I'm thinking they start off as an unconnected party. Maybe they are a group of online friends who regularly discuss the animus tech, or are interested in it otherwise. One of them gets their hands on one and covertly informs the rest of the group. Then they all decide to meet. Based on what they discover through going back in their bloodlines, they find out who their ancestors were and decide how they will align themselves... assassin, templar or otherwise. Or maybe they don't want to align themselves at all, merely want to do research, but get dragged into it. They will eventually get discovered.

2. Good question. What do you think? I think they should probably start off going through their own bloodlines. Afterall, this tech hasn't been seen in 10 years, so they will only know how to operate it based on what little they've been able to read about it online. So the thought of being able to go outside of their ancestors history won't initially occur to them. But I think definitely they should be able to go beyond that eventually.

Okay. That sounds good.

Was it ever explicitly said that an animus user couldn't access their own memories via the animus? Startings of a character forming...

Um. Let's say no. Take your creativity and run with it! I should probably start on a character too. Haha.

Also, head's up to anyone making a character: this is 20 years into the future, so there will have been some pretty cool tech developments. Feel free to take any ideas you might have and add them into your character sheet.
