I am still accepting applications! Right now we have a good amount of combat specialists but no strong biotics or tech experts, so if you are looking to make a character that's going to be fighting a lot, it would be great if you could bring that variety. I'd also like to have another non-combat-based crew member too, such as an engineer or quartermaster.


ABOUT:
This is a Mass Effect-based role play that takes place during the events of Mass Effect 3. A consortium of wealthy and connected individuals have pooled their resources together to sponsor, fund, and build the Unity, a military spaceship with a multiracial crew. The ship and its assorted crew are intended to be a representation interspecies cooperation that is necessary to win the Reaper War.

The Unity will be dispatched to carry out various tasks to help the war effort, such as evacuating a colony, interrupting Reaper scouts, delivering intel for other operations, and more. They go where they are needed and serve how they can. The ship itself is a small but well-equipped structure designed for evasive behavior and quick delivery. It is not intended to engage in large ship-to-ship battles but instead be a quick lightning-strike to the Reapers' weak spot.

The Unity is not a member of any of the major military organizations; they are their own independent force who aims only to help with the war. This means that the Unity may cooperate however it can with other forces, such as the Systems Alliance. The project is special because it is a symbolic advocate for cooperation between all species. The ultimate goal of the Unity, besides undermining the Reapers in any possible way, is to spur the galaxy to unite against a common enemy.

THE CONSORTIUM:
The Consortium is the trio of powerful individuals who banded together to found Project Unity. They are all influential individuals who bring different resources to the project. They have their own specific motivations for supporting the project, but in the end, they all want an end to the Reaper War.


WHERE YOU COME IN:
You play the role of a Unity crew member. There are many stations to man on a ship, so you have a large number of options to pick from. A ship needs pilots, comm specialists, medics, engineers, combat specialists, etc. For the sake of the story, there should be a good number of combat-based characters to be deployed for a mission.

EXPECTATIONS:


CHARACTER PROFILE
Please put a good amount of effort into your character profile. It is an application for the role play, after all. I look for character insight, writing ability, and editing. While I know that this is just a character sheet and not an actual writing test, I need to be able to tell that you are going to write in a bearable way. That sounds extremely snotty, I know. My main point: please use proper grammar and spelling to the best of your ability, and show me that you can write about a unique, compelling character.



THE BOTTOM LINE
The main thing here is to have fun telling a story together. This is going to be a decent-quality role play, so there will be a decent amount of thought, care, commitment, and effort that we all have to put into this. Still, I understand we can all be tired, busy, and suffer with writer's block. Please just do the best you can without spoiling the fun for yourself or others :)
ABOUT THE SHIP:

Here is a very basic layout of the ship. You are all free to invent whatever you think would exist in the ship.

@axiom12 the "Code" section is where you put the detail I want which can be found under the "Expectations" section. It's just my way of making sure the rules were read :)

Name: Sarnella Tirane
Appearance: Sarnella is about 5' 3". She has a small but sturdy build. She maintains military-passable physical fitness but ultimately appears undaunting without her biotics. She has eyes like bright ice and vibrant orchid skin. Her face is a mix of angular and non-angular, masculine and feminine. She has low round cheekbones and a straight-bridged nose. Her jaw is rounded and undefined. There is a thin strip of indigo tattooed on her face from her bottom lip to the base of her neck, where it fans out into two curved prongs that disappear somewhere below her collarbone.
Race: Asari
Age: 270
Biotic ability: Sarnella is a capable biotic. While her physique is less than imposing, a flare of her biotics can cause her enemies to second-guess their aggression. She has received the regular biotic instruction all asari receive in addition to military training. She relies heavily on her biotic capabilities to get herself out of a pinch. However, she does not find herself in actual combat that often and therefore would not consider herself a strong biotic warrior. She has just enough skill to be useful but not enough to be considered a master.

Biography:


Personality: When she is working, Sarnella can be very phlegmatic and straightforward. She takes pride in her work and invests herself in it one hundred percent. This is part of the reason why she finds it difficult to "shut off." This is the reason why many people may think she is high-strung or too intense. She loves to work (she's a self-proclaimed workaholic) because of the sense of purpose it provides for her. This has interfered with many of her past relationships. She is contemplative, thoughtful, and very much enjoys meaningful conversations as opposed to impersonal pleasantries. She also has a knack for calming people down, which comes in handy as someone who has to communicate with people in high-stress situations.

Position: Communications & Intelligence Specialist-- Sarnella manages the comm links and information feeds. During a mission, she makes sure all the crew deployed have a strong signal back to the ship. She patches them in with anyone she needs to communicate with. She also sifts through various communications channels (and may have to finagle her way into some) to gather as much information on the situation as she can. Being an Intelligence Specialist goes hand-in-hand with this. She gathers, manages, and organizes information to give all members of the crew as much of an advantage as she can. Sarnella's job is critical for the survival and success of the specialists on the ground.

Name: Urdnot Glaive

Appearance: Urdnot Glaive is a massive Krogan, standing at 10 feet tall unarmored. His skin color is pretty typical of Krogan, tan. His eyes are blue, his natural plating is more of a grey color. His head plate has some blue tattoos, resembling Turian face tattoos. He got that from that one time he got drunk with one of his Turian buddies.
He wears this armor, painted white with blue where the black are.

Race: Krogan

Age: 841

Biotic ability: Biotically, Glaive is relatively weak. He is incapable of using complex abilities, such as Warp, Stasis, etc. But he is capable of more basic biotic usage. Lifting things and pushing things are among them. Mostly, he uses his Biotics to charge his War Axe, giving it an explosive trait when Glaive hits something with it.

Biography: Born into Clan Urdnot, Glaive was often ridiculed and bullied by more aggressive Krogan because Glaive was polite, kind, and merciful. Bullied until Glaive fought back, and knocked them out. Glaive was a very promising Krogan warrior, using technique and brute force when most Krogan just used brute force. Like most Krogan, Glaive left Tuchanka to become a Mercenary, where he spent most of his life. Unlike most Krogan, he took jobs he deemed morally and ethically right. Often for long periods of time he would be out of a job, and then take a very difficult job where he would be busy for months at a time. Compared to most Krogan Mercenaries, he wasn't particularly rich, and he got a portion of his income from looting dead bodies and selling whatever they had, usually guns he didn't need.
During his travels as a Mercenary, he's traveled the galaxy and he's made some very interesting friends. Some with power and connections. Glaive has found himself aboard the Unity because one of these friends had convinced him that it was a good idea.

Personality: Glaive mellowed out as he aged, he was never one to initiate a fight anyways. Glaive is actually very polite, and (unfortunately?) he has the temper of an iceberg. Very rarely will he become angry and go into a blood rage, but when he does, things will most likely break. Glaive values friendship more then most Krogan, because he sees the strengths in them, rather than the weaknesses. He is also one of the most optimistic Krogan you will ever see.

Position: Combat Specialist/Diplomat, if we'll ever need something like a diplomat. His skills include, smashing things, headbutting things, and yelling at things. He's generally good at these. He's also alright at tinkering with his Omnitool, but that's about as tech-savvy as he's going to get.

Other:
-He's got two Omnitools. The one on his left arm is solely for an Omnishield. The one on his right is more like an actual Omnitool, used for application of Medigel, hacking, and the usual Omnitool stuff.
-He's not too good at shooting things, or ranged things in general. He can hit a target, but not a lengthy range of 150 meters. His preference towards close quarters combat sort of negates that anyways, he usually brings a shotgun and heavy pistol.
-Glaive hasn't been to Tuchanka in several hundred years.
-His Waraxe is like a Poleaxe, with an axe head on one side and a hammerhead on the other.

Appearance:
There is no way for anyone, unless he walks in crowd of bloodthirsty krogans, to unnoticing Edwin. He looks like all the most dangerous districts in Omega summed into short framed, blonde package. His face looks like an indecent compromise between handsome, somewhat boyish appearance and look of hardened veteran with differently colored eyes (one is green, other blue) carrying glassy look of someone who saw too much in too little time, little bit deformed nose (reminder of quite literal face to face experience with krogan) and mouth crooked in derisive grin, all the that topped by wild nest of pale blond hair. Most of the time he covers his face with black helmet with stylish picture of turian (nothing personal) skull.
Rest of his body is covered in armor of same sort and from many scratches and dents it´s easy to figure out, that armor served its purpose for long time.
Race: Human
Age: 35
Biotic ability: none
Biography:
Edwin had rich childhood, literally. His father earned great fortune from import of alien goods for Alliance and Edwin had all everything he ever wanted. His father wanted him to be politician or business man like himself, and hired best personal teachers he could find. But Edwin, unlike his siblings (he had two of them, older brother and younger sister), was never interested in things like school or wealth. Why bother with office work when there is whole galaxy to see, he often said. He wanted to deal with alien cultures (but not only in business matters like his father) and explore surface of foreign planets. With idealistic mind such as his, it was no surprise when he joined Alliance military forces. His family did not take it too well. He became black sheep and his dad even disinherited him. Edwin didn´t care, he had goal to achieve.
Military training was tough, but he made it through with notable record making him top material for special forces and his future looked once again bright. Even if soldier´s life was a lot less about adventure and lot more about drill, he enjoyed his new career. His few first deployments against batarian pirates in Terminus system were huge success and after while he made his name among other soldiers.
Everything changed when command send his team to find and eliminate batarian slaver, hiding in old turian outpost. Edwin and his tame were able to get there with little to no fuss, but once they found the Slaver mission turned into bloodbath. Edwin´s team was outnumbered and what was worse, outpost served as "storage room" for human "cargo.
Only Edwin survived. All of his teammates were dead, slavers and slaves met the same destiny. Only Edwin survived, and it had broken him. No longer he could serve in military, being forced to retire. He tried to reestablish contacts with his family, trying to get a decent civil job, but it didnt last long. He trained to fight and it was only thing he could do. He ended up in Omega as one of many guns for hire. He worked for everyone with enough credits and soon earned a reputation of reliable and efficient freelancer.
He had several invitations to join Blue suns, Eclipse or even Blood pack (what would make him first human member) gang, but he never gave up his individuality. He always worked alone, until offer from Consortium came. Nobody knows why did he accepted it, maybe it was because he saw threat of reapers, or because of the pile of credits they promised to him , but soon enough, he found himself aboard.

Edwin is a cocky bastard, and that only when he has his better days. Most of the time, he is a living commercial for bad habits. Pure cynicism mixed with cheap booze, cigarette smoke and a burning hatred for authority.
However, in action his old soldier´s instincts kick in and he becomes a completely different person. Once he is fully focused on mission, there is only a few things that could stop him from achieving it.
His trust is not easy to gain but he himself is as trustworthy as a mercenary can be, never breaking his deal or betraying his employer as long as terms of his deal stay unchanged.

As a former member of special forces, Edwin is best at fast deployments where are his combat efficiency and surgical accuracy required most . Sabotages, assassinations and hit-and-run actions are his specialty and its needless to say he is very good at his work, even if little bit rusty.
