Life isn't valuable because of what it might accomplish before it ends. Life is valuable intrinsically. A homeless schizophrenic is worth fighting for. Cluttering the issue with political, racial, or even religious values is dishonest.

It's not dishonest IMHO.
Seen Rosemary's Baby? Well you just pointed out why it's potential political message was bogus. Life is valuable intrinsically. I wouldn't mind if Satan was aborted, but there wasn't a way to know that would happen, hypothetically, in real life.
After all, we could just go ahead and abort the Messiah too, then we'd just have the Devil left.

Life is valuable, and that's the ad's message. I don't know what their intentions were, but that is an obvious conclusion for me to make.

If we want to be technical you can make the argument with that logic that anytime a woman has a period is a potential for life/a great individual that is wasted and we are possibly throwing away a great person. So obviously the only moral thing to do is to make women always pregnant. :P

Obviously there is a continuum. We have something clearly human, a newborn baby, and something clearly not, a gamete. The discussion now lies on where the line is drawn.

There are certain points in history in which opportunities present for certain types of individuals. Alexander Graham Bell beat Elisha Gray to the patent office by two hours, giving Bell the credit of inventing the telephone and a one-way ticket to fame, wealth and power. Had Bell not lived, then we might know Gray's name and the Gray Telephone Company would be in our history books instead of Ma Bell.

In other words, I think this concept, that each life is so precious to the continuity of our world that we can't possibly disturb it or we'll screw up the timeline, is just silly. Instead of Bell we have Gray. Instead of Newton we have Leibniz. People die unexpectedly, but the world keeps on turning regardless, it's the same for this case.

I'm not saying go out and murder all unborn children. I'm just saying that premise of this commercial is false and so this particular argument against abortion is false.
