Appearance: Lord Haron stands slightly less than 6 feet tall, with a fit frame and an erect posture that belie his age. His deep-set black eyes and his curved nose give him the appearance of a bird of prey. He wears his facial hair in the classic Illianer way, a stubby grey beard and a shaved upper lip. His greying hair has also started receding, reinforcing the image of a hawk.

Background: Lord Haron was born to Lord Eamon and Lady Eltema of House Gregoras, the first of three boys. House Gregoras is an illustrious Illianer house with ties dating back to Artur Hawkwing himself. Before the establishment of the Council, there have been two kings of Illian from the House Gregoras. Since then, there has been at least one Gregoras Councillor every generation.

While his father was busy with matters of court and his mother with matters of nobility, the young Haron found love in books. He devoured his father's study, then proceeded to the Council's collection. By 17, the boy knew more about the world through books than some men did traveling. Every time Ogier stonemasons visited the city, Haron would pester them with questions and pay exorbitant money for books.

It was around this time that his father sought to educate his son further. Haron was sent to the Fortress of Light in Amador, to study under the Children of the Light. It was a calculated move on the father's part. The Children didn't care for marriage alliances, but they did care for indoctrination. By sending young Haron to study with the Whitecloaks, he was forging a relationship that would define Haron's life in the times to come.

Initially, Haron hated the martial environment. He longed for the quiet gardens of Illian, for an afternoon filled with books. Instead, the young man was forced to learn to fight, to ride, to wield a blade. Haron took to it kicking and screaming. But one day, he discovered the works of Lothair Mantelar. The Children prohibited any other books but his. But his books awoke something in Haron. He started contemplating on the idea of Light, on how to define it better. The mental exercise calmed him, and allowed him to ease into his surroundings.

For six years, Haron studied with the Whitecloaks. During that time, he had become a Blademaster and was asked several times to stay and be anointed as a Captain. But Haron had different ideas. His time with the Whitecloaks had opened up something in him, an obsessive desire to define the concept of Light, to understand the nature of the Creator so that man can seek to govern his realms better.

When Haron returned home, it was a different son that greeted the father. Haron was itching to be part of a power group like the Council, to try his new ideas. He was appointed ambassador to the Whitecloaks. With the help of his friends among the Questioners, Haron managed to forge a non-aggression pact. His successes won him many admirers and a few detractors. Using the same Questioners, Haron cast aspersions on their character, quietly eroding their authority in the background.

For six years, Haron toiled in the background. When his father passed away, he effortlessly moved in to full his position. People called him ruthless, the way he did away with the competition. But among commoners, Haron was something of a hero. By ensuring trade with Amadicia and Tarabon, he had ensured the well-being of his people. He was known as a man who did not set much store by class or rank, only of a person’s worth.

Haron married the Lady Elise when he was 30. To him, marriage was just another alliance. Haron never really preferred women and their marriage was purely a political one. With her as his wife, he had also become the son-in-law of the oldest and most respected Councillor. The position gave him an enormous influence over the voting of the Council.

Over the past decade, Haron has constantly consolidated his power in the Council. Now, the council is mostly filled with his supporters or cronies, including one of his two devoted younger brothers. Several times in the past, Haron and the King have had a showdown regarding Haron’s Tairen connections. While Haron has so far stood down, nobles are already muttering that Lord Haron plans his counter-attack. Of late, several rumours have been flying about regarding Haron’s own kingly ambitions and his vision of a Council-ruled Illian.

Haron's crowning achievement so far has been the calling of the Great Hunt. For years, Haron has talked about reviving the glory of Illian. After months of bribing and cajoling councillors, by using the strongarm tactics of the Questioners and the subtle political maneuverings of the nobility, Haron has brought about the Great Hunt of the Horn, to be held in two days' time in the Tammaz Square, presided over by the Lord Haron himself.

Name: Saloul Anamon

Appearance: Saloul is surprisingly tall, not because of how tall he is, but rather because he doesn't seem tall until you're standing right next to him. It's not that he's one of those people who you don't notice in general, he just doesn't seem to be the slightly over 6 foot that he is. His warder training has given him a substantial amount of bulk, even wearing his fancloth cloak he's obviously very muscular, even for a Warder given his choice of weaponry. His skin bears the tan of someone who clearly spends much of their life out in the sun. He does not bear the scars of a warrior of countless years, most of his nicks and minimal still visible injuries are from scuffles as a kid. The only one of note being that his nose is slightly bent from being broken early on. It is the only offsetting thing from his otherwise charming appearance. He has welcoming brown eyes and generally gives off the feeling of some sort of oversized teddy bear.

Background: Saloul was born in Tar Valon and was a bit of a misfit growing up. He wasn't quite a vandal growing up but he certainly wasn't a goody-two shoes. It wasn't uncommon to find him getting into trouble one way or another whether it was snatching a pie or pranking some unsuspecting individual, even if they did deserve it. Of course he made friends easily and had an overall easy-going personality, allowing him to weasel out of the consequences far more than a less likable person. At some point it become to much however and his parent's entered him into the Warder academy to straighten him up. Naturally the strict and brutal training he went through made him a little more serious and gave him a lot less time to screw around.

Despite this he took to the training rather well, finding it to be a challenge and giving him a purpose he'd been lacking before. Several years later he was as deadly and skilled as any warder, yet far more personable and friendly than most of his brethren. It was an odd man that both greeted most everyone they saw with a smile and a wave while also analyzing them for danger and how to best neutralize them in the same moment.

His personality seemed to attractive a boyish Aes Sedi of the Gray Ajah named Alyna. Unlike some warders may feel, Saloul was not concerned with being bonded to the Ajah that dealt with more politics than anything else. Afterall, even as a warder, he still enjoyed the complexities of society and was not merely concnered with fighting. He's been with Alyna for about a month, giving the two some time to get used to each other's company.

Torin Somares

Age: 24

Appearance: Torin stands at about 5’9’’ with a straight-backed and confident composure, which seems to add a few inches to his height and immediately marks him as a man of gentle birth. He has olive skin, black hair and brown eyes of similar dark hues. While not exactly handsome, his oblong face is pleasant to look at and bears no scars or markings, save for a small mole to the right of his lip. Like most Tairen nobility, he keeps his hair short and his beard well-groomed and drawn to a point, but lacking the oily lustre commonly seen among the rich.

Though lithe rather than muscular, Torin’s physique is defined and signifies he leads an active life; further proof of this are his calloused hands, ones belonging to a swordsman, not a pampered dandy. As befits a man of his standing, he dresses in a dark red silk doublet, worn over a white linen shirt, black breeches tucked into a pair of knee-high riding boots polished to a shine and an embroidered cloak to ward off the rain.

Background:
Torin is a scion of House Somares, an old and respected family, best known for their olive plantations along the coast near the city of Godan in southeast Tear. While lacking the power and wealth to be counted amongst Tear’s High Lords, they had significant land and the oil they produced was carried by their ships to markets in Tear and beyond, filling the House’s coffers. As a result, the Somares enjoyed an easy life and spared no expense in the education of their children. Torin was no exception and was taught all that a young man of gentle birth needed to know; he spent his days being tutored in riding and swordsmanship, history and geography, statecraft and strategy, manners and dancing.

He was the middle child, having an older brother and a younger sister. Torin’s father, the Lord Somares, was an irritable man and a drunk, known for his foul moods, constant criticism of those around him and a tendency for squandering the family wealth in taverns and gambling dens. The estate was mainly managed by Torin’s mother, Lady Ilira Somares, who ruled the family business and household with an iron fist. Since Torin’s brother was often away negotiating trade deals or parlaying with other nobles in Tear and his sister was busy with the family’s books, it fell to Torin to watch over the family lands, which were growing increasingly neglected by his father.

Such tasks came easily to Torin, who had proven himself to be quick and energetic, a capable rider and a natural with a sword from a young age. Though he lacked his sister’s head for numbers and his brother’s way with people, he was confident and driven, a quality which made him popular among the commoners. Even before he could grow a beard, he began accompanying his father’s captains on their patrols throughout the olive groves. As he grew into a man, he even managed to make a bit of a name for himself in nearby Godan after winning a number of duels in defence of his family’s name.

When the Aiel War began, Torin’s father and thousands of other Tairens left to join the war effort, under High Lord Astoril Damara. He raised the majority of the Somares troops and, to Torin’s dismay, ordered him to stay behind and look after his mother and sister, seeing as his brother could not afford to return home from his business in Tear. Around this time, he was trying to raise the family’s standing with a High Lord, a task of the utmost importance in the eyes of Lady and Lord Somares. And so, disgruntled and sullen, Torin saw to the concerns of the peasantry and toured the family holdings, while his brother and father were away winning fame and prestige.

One day, relatively early on in the war, a letter from Cairhien announced that the Lord Somares had died during the fighting, pierced by an Aiel’s spear. They grieved and then they awaited his brother’s return from Tear so that he could formally assume his role as head of the House. Unfortunately, that never happened. A few weeks before the war’s end, Torin’s brother was implicated in a plot against a High Lord, along with a number of lesser nobles and, worst of all, an agent of the Illianer king. The penalty for such a transgression was death, thus Torin lost two family members before the war finally ended.

The shadow of treason fell on the Somares household, their friends dwindled and many profitable contracts were lost. Their bad fortunes would not end here, however, as the man his brother had crossed turned out to be particularly vindictive. He used his influence to have the council of High Lords issue an edict, which saw Torin exiled from Tear. His mother and sister were spared the indignity, but Torin had no choice.

It should be noted that, for a man such as Torin, exile was the greatest blow of all. He grieved for his dead relatives, but for him, standing and pride was above all. As such, not only was the family name blemished by his brother’s betrayal, his own exile meant that the Somares household would have no one to restore their honour!

While Torin was making preparations to leave his home forever, word reached them that a Great Hunt had been called in Illian. Desperate, broken and thoroughly soaked in booze, he told his mother and sister that he would embark on the Hunt, seeing this as his only chance of redeeming himself and ending his unjust exile.

Companions:
Nalin (Valet) -> A thin, elegant man in his late forties, as evidenced by his greying hair and wrinkling face. Originally from Andor, he joined the Somares household some fifteen years ago and became a personal manservant to Torin’s older brother. Rumour has it that Nalin is a noble bastard, who fled his country to avoid shaming his father. Whether that is true or not remains a mystery, but Nalin is certainly literate and well-read, with fine taste and exquisite manners, certainly above what one would consider of a servant. When the older Somares was executed, Nalin was acquitted of all guilt and returned to the family estate, where he was ordered to see to Torin’s needs during the Hunt by Lady Ilira.

Rosario (Bodyguard) -> One of Lord Somares’ former soldiers, served as a sergeant before he retired. Dark-skinned with wide shoulders, short bristly hair and a patchy beard. Accompanied Torin’s father during the Aiel war and then continued the fight along with the other Somares soldiers even after their lord had died. Despite Torin’s protests, he was assigned to protect the young lord at the behest of Lady Ilira, a thing she firmly insisted on. (+1 Con)

Alyna Telle

Name: Alyna Telle

Appearance: Alyna's most striking feature is her long curly auburn hair, more specifically how it contrasts her pale skin. Her eyes are a pastel blue, with dark eyebrows that make them easy to distinguish at a distance. Alyna stands at 5' 3" (~157cm) with no bust to speak of; her figure's reminiscent of a prepubescent boy, at least according to her. Her face is similar to most Aes Sedai in the way that she seems almost ageless. Alyna normally wears darker colors, mixing darker greens with reddish purples, though she does mix in greens with royal purple. Her normal attire is dresses, and rarely does she stray from this pattern, unless the climate is unforgiving.

Background: Alyna was born into a family too poor to feed her and, for at least a couple years, too pious to abandon her in the streets. Her first memories were not of her parents, however, but instead of the orphanage she lived in for most of her life. The memory was hazy, she knew she had been injured, but that wasn't what shone through after all those years. What lay in that memory was the yellow hoods of the Aes Sedai who healed her. The stories she heard later, from her peers, could never darken the resplendent image their very name awakened inside her.

Alyna had a fairly repetitive childhood, never being fortunate enough (or, as is mostly the case, pretty enough) to be adopted. It wasn't so bad, she'd tell you, even with her oaths taken. The tales whispered about the White Tower reminded her of aspirations that she was sure most little girls at least considered. To be special, to be able to change the world; who couldn't help but dream?

Although she saw the Aes Sedai once or twice more over the years, on the streets when she was begging and the such, it wasn't until Alyna was 17 that she again gained ones attention. The woman, or girl, Alyna never could tell, informed her that she was able to channel. Having no idea of her own potential, Alyna was floored. After the Aes Sedai explained what it would mean, Alyna begged her to take her to the white tower to be trained.

The journey from Tanchico to Tar Valon would always be an amazing milestone in Alyna's life; it was on par with one of her first memories in terms of stark contrast to her earlier monotonous life.

Alyna trained for 20 years, not in any way exceptional in her studies. The only thing that could be considered remotely impressive was the way she was raised to Accepted. She was promoted without seeming to be affected, though that may have been a front. The Test for the Shawl went similarly, and she passed on her first attempt. Besides this she was not an exceptional student, she just seemed to work well under pressure. To the surprise of the few friends she made while at the Tower, Alyna did not choose the Yellow Ajah but instead the Gray Ajah. This was mostly surprising because of how dedicated Alyna was to studying healing weaves.

Alyna had decided on the Grey Ajah as opposed to the Yellow Ajah for good reason. One, she felt she could heal the wounded and preform such altruistic activities without being a part of the Ajah seemingly designated for the task. Two, Alyna noticed how populated the Grey Ajah was, in stark contrast to the Yellow Ajah, and felt any mistakes made would be a lot less noticeable in a larger community of Aes Sedai. The third and final reason for her choice of Ajah had to do with her childhood. A lifetime of being looked down upon summoned spite and contempt for those born into nobility. The darker side of wanting to be great lead her to envy those who had more than enough and couldn't bother to spare a single copper. A large part of her felt that becoming a Grey Ajah would let her rub shoulders with these high borns, and force them to respect a low born such as herself. This is quite toxic, as she still regards those who she normally is assigned to deal with as above her, and seems to show a permanently compromised self esteem. This isn't oft expressed in the presence of these lords, and ladies, but is often apparent when she lets down her guard.

After taking the oaths and choosing her Ajah, Alyna was not assigned a job outside the tower for a month, but once she was she decided to choose a Warder. Saloul was her first choice, not only for how friendly he seemed. Before bonding with Saloul, Alyna spent many a evening watching him and his peers train, before eventually deciding he would be the best option. She traveled with Saloul for a week before deciding to bond with him. After bonding, she was assigned small tasks by the Head Clerk, leading the two to travel together for a month. Saloul and Alyna are currently staying at an inn inside of Illian.

Raurfen Almanes

Appearance: Rugged and shaggy and is the best way to describe Raurfen at first glance. He often looks as if he's been sleeping in a barn, and he often has, if not under the stars in the wilderness. His eyes are yellow and piercing, which offputs those who would appreciate his handsome facial features and lean but powerful form. He's often seen wearing his versatile armor over his civilian clothing. He does his best to keep himself well shaven to appear less conspicuous, however that means he has a perpetual 5 o'clock shadow. He looks a lot like a wolf that hasn't eaten in a few days...lean, rough, statuesque, but dangerous nonetheless.

Background: Raurfen was born in Andor to a leather maker and a seamstress, growing up modestly and only lacking a few times in his life. He grew up strong and handsome in Baerlon, finding the woman of his dreams, Mara, at age 17. They wed and started a family when Raurfen was 20. He'd always been athletic, and found his calling as a soldier. Unfortunately, the Aiel War broke out and took him away from his hearth and home.

For two bloody years, his battalion of Andor soldiers fought the Aiel all along the Westlands, being pushed back but giving the Aiel hell for every inch of ground taken. He'd personally slain a few (not at the same time, mind), though many of those kills were luck, he'd wager. They fought hard and he often didn't think he would live to see the next battle. He admired them, however. They moved like wolves, something he had grown an appreciation for in recent years...

The Damodred king was slain, and the Aiel fled back to their homeland like whipped dogs. Raurfen was apart of one of the pursuit parties, attempting to harry the Aiel as they moved eastward back to their land. In one of the skirmishes, he was kicked down a hill and knocked unconscious. He found himself lost come night time. Still, somehow he could feel as if there were others around him. His...vision was funny as well.

Images began to flash into his head, of trees and forests, lakes and streams. He couldn't quite fathom what was occurring until Wolves padded up to him, and he realized the beasts were offering to guide him home. He accepted, and the next few weeks before he made it to Baerlon was quite the learning experience for him. Perhaps this...gift was not too large of a deal. Hopefully other than this, and his new Wolf Brothers, he would live a normal life with Mara and their child Coulsen now.

It was not to be. His wife accepted him readily enough, but his neighbors began to shun him and one day he found the mark of the Dragon Fang on his door. He began to hear rumors the Whitecloaks were coming to find a 'yellow eyed' Darkfriend. He fled his home to keep his family safe, living among the wolves until one fateful day when he was found by a Whitecloak patrol. He killed two with his bare hands, but is captured and taken back to town.

He realizes there that the Whitecloaks had interrogated, and then killed his wife and child, labeling them Darkfriends as well. He breaks out of the jail they were holding him in, killing three more Whitecloaks before escaping into the wilds once more, searching for a new purpose in this life...
