I had it in mind to pursue a Warder character whose Aes Sedai had died (and dealing with the consequences therefrom), but I'm sensing an overabundance of Warders already.

@Lucky Knight One of the few restrictions for characters is that if you are a warder, you must have an Aes Sedai. Losing them would be too unbearable, perhaps even worse than how one feels after being gentled.

Having an abundance of Aes Sedai and warders is fine, but it would be much better if we could have some diversity. If we could have a Green Ajah commander to control the Aes Sedai forces alongside a Dreadlord to control some Shadow forces, for example, then the battles will be a lot less one sided. Otherwise, every single battle will be PC's vs. GM's, which will get boring very quickly.

Other factions one could control include:

- Any other nation's forces
- Aiel
- Heck, even Seanchan
- Another Ajah (primarily Red or Blue)
- Secret Dark friends
- The Black Ajah

Here's a better list of the different factions one might control. I'm not going to make filling each of these roles a requirement unless diversity becomes a real issue here.

The way it works: You play a character, yes, but you also control a faction. This might be a small group of fighters, or it might be an entire goddamn nation. It's up to you. Even if your character has no real power in their faction, you will control what happens in that faction. If your character is the commander, all the better- you'll command your forces, but it's up to you to decide what they're actually going to do.

This will be reflected in the character sheet design, which I'm still developing.

  • Aes Sedai - Commanded by Tetsuan
    • Green Ajah
    • Red Ajah
    • Blue Ajah
    • Yellow Ajah
    • Brown Ajah
    • Grey Ajah
    • White Ajah
    • Warders
  • Nations
    • Manetheren - Commanded by Eldrene
      • The Band of the Red Hand - Controlled by Aemon
    • Aelgar
    • Almoren
    • Eharon
    • Essenia
    • Safer
  • Shadow
    • Greater Forces - Commanded by Ba'alzamon
      • Black Ajah
      • Smaller Forces
  • Other Factions
    • Aiel
    • Seanchan

@Gareth It's ok! By the end of the war, all of these kingdoms were completely demolished by the Shadow, and new nations were rebuilt from their ashes.

I feel like I'm kind of in the same boat as many, I want to try, just not sure if I can actually devote the time to this.

but my head keeps going: WHEEL OF TIME!!!

Also I'm in the same boat of not having finished the books, I think I made it to about book 9 and then I just needed to take a break, (I ended up swearing at work with "Blood and Ashes!" figured I should switch to a different series) And I know if I start reading them again I'll have to start with Newspring, then make my way through the series all over... not a bad thing, just a bit of an investment when I still haven't finished the Malazan Book of the Fallen yet (I'm having a similar problem with that series xD)

How often would you be wanting everyone to post? Daily, weekly etc?

@Sanctus Spooki Definitely not daily, but at least once a week. Post length should be around 1,000 words, for the quality I'm expecting from you guys, and that's too much to expect on a daily basis.

Alright, I'll give it a try :) Also, I'll be sure to let you know if I'm not going to be able to continuously post.

I was thinking at first a Warder, but since it seems no one has expressed interest in the Aiel (Honestly surprised about that) I'll make one, having a bit of difficulty remembering, which Nation was it that had the agreement with the Aiel, before their king royally (haha) screwed up?

Oh, excellent, I don't have to worry about that particular complication then.

It does make things a bit more complicated though, if I remember, and you say as much, the Trollocs were essentially terrified of the Aiel after the invasion of the waste failed, and I can't recall if they really bothered to leave the waste during the war, (at least in large numbers)

So, do you mind if I take certain liberties so as to have a respectable (Not all of the tribes, probably not even 1 whole one) force of Aiel present?

If you want to play an Aiel, the max you could command/control is one clan. I'm definitely willing to allow liberties- the only restriction is that you cannot

The Aiel suddenly appearing would definitely cause the Shadow forces to retreat if they could, but that's not always an option- it would more likely cause a fight to the complete demolishment of one side of the battle.

I just started re-reading that series. <3

Gotta be honest not really loving this. I understand why you want it this way... Still, I'm probably not going to join if this leans towards the NRP direction.

@aviendhaI literally just acquired the 'Wheel of Time: Roleplay' guide for a tabletop game. And while we are not making one of those, it has useful info on Aes Sedai/Aeil/various faction and timelines.

@Sergeant Think of it this way- most of your posts and interactions will be just you, as a player character. 90% of your posts will be you controlling one guy. The other 10% of your posts will involve battle- and 90% of those posts will be your character's actions. The other 10% of those 10% of posts will be you detailing what the rest of your character's faction is doing.

This way, I don't have to act as God and tell you what's happening at every part of the battlefield. You guys maintain creative control. By doing this, we can actually get a sense of the fleshed out battlefield, rather than a 1v1 perspective. It'll both keep in the spirit of Jordan's style, and it will allow us all to think with more strategy.

tl;dr: The only times you will control a faction will be during battle.

(I'm making these numbers up, btw. I have no idea what the actual ratio will be, but it will be along a similar tangent.)

@POOHEAD189 I've got all the WoT books, including the extra info ones; we should compare notes.

ok so about that one guy that the Main character kept having to fight over and over again in the books.

He used to sell stuff in the main character's home town.

Would there be a character like him allowed and be playable by us?

@Gareth If you're asking if you could make a vendor, totally. If you're asking if you could make a guy that's so disgustingly evil that not even the Shadow wants to deal with him, then you could totally play Mordeth.
