The Setting

The King of Valstand has been in power for 43 years. His only child, Princess Tahra Styrka, turned 21 years old and was expected to assume the throne, something the people had been waiting for since her birth. She was known as genuinely kind and good, a stark contrast to her tyrannical father. Unwilling to give up the throne as required by law he instead sentenced her to death by hanging. Will she manage to escape the palace dungeons before morning or is her fate already sealed?

@Game Maker Hey there. I'm interested in participating, quick question though I got is about magic: Is there much magic in this setting or is it a bit more mundane?

@Zetsuko There is magic, similar to what you would find in D&D. There would be limits so no god-modding or anything like that. It would require a period of rest afterwards especially from heavy exertion.

Name: Avadodren Ichen Onem (the -ch in Ichen is pronounced as a hard, guttural hiss)

Age: Appears somewhere near his mid-thirties to early forties.

Race: Avadodren, or Avad, as he is known to very close friends, is 100% bonafide human.

Looks: No matter how exceptional I truly am, all that is seen is my exterior. By that standard, I was born average, and will die average. Av is exceedingly typical looking. He is of typical height, somewhere between 5'10" and 6', and average weight for his slightly slender build. He has a messy head of brown hair and a pair of gooey, dark-brown eyes. His skin is pale and fair, a few freckles smattering his brow and the bridge of his nose, to his eternal chagrin. He wears his uniform as a High Battlemage, a long, flowing robe of pale ivory white and embroidered with ash-gray and flaming red in elaborate flame patterns. His honorable stars are worn on his shoulder. He nearly always carries his spellbook with him. It is a massive tome, bound in dark gray leather and bound with ragged, long-used, gilt pages. He has a bit of a theatrical flair about him; often, he will twitch a finger and use a tightly controlled gust of wind to flip the pages instead of being a regular person and using his fingers in a more mundane fashion. Put it all together and you have a medium-tall, medium-light, brown-on-brown-on-pale person, eyes glimmering with deep intelligence, with a flamboyant nature and an incredibly sharp mind.

Bio: Avadodren Ichen Onem was born Avad Onem into a Valstand noble family of middling influence and wealth. Though he wanted for little in his childhood, he certainly had none of the absurd wealth of some of the higher families. He was trained in the standard noble pursuits; swordsmanship, riding, court manners. Then, at one particularly uninteresting party, he experienced a cataclysmic magic surge. As many such events go, there was much flash. There was, however, far more danger at Avad's magic surge than most. Several nobles were permanently injured, and his father, Veddys, was killed. Avad, desperate to escape the cloying guilt that ate at him, decided to find a noble death: a battlefield mage, torn apart either by the power of his own spellcraft or by whatever might be faced at the moment.
Through some cruel joke of fate, he lived through every campaign, and indeed, through many years, began to creep little-by-little up the ranks. Eventually, his desire for a good death fled, replaced by a savage desire to ascend to the highest echelon of magic: an Archmage. He took the name of the greatest Archmage in the history of Valstand: Odren. He appended it to his own, calling his determination for all to see: I will be an Archmage. Along the road, he took an honorific as well: at the battle of Ichen, he distinguished himself by saving over a thousand men with a well-timed fog cloud to obscure the enemy's lines of sight. Thus, 'Of Ichen's Glory' became his military title. He internalized it, turning it into a name as he fully took it for himself, becoming nigh-obsessed with his rise to glorious power, burying the memory of his past and determined to make his late father proud.
Over time, that motivation faded. He was no longer a child, and became able to look back without regret. His meteoric rise through the military steadied off as his frenzied energy petered away, and he settled into the life if a professional High Battlemage. While he still aspires to the Archmage's mantle, he longer pursues is feverishly. He's a close confidant of the king, and is able to see the good buried beneath the tyranny. He firmly believes the king has the best interests of his subjects at heart, and will support him in nearly endeavor.

Other: In departure from his typicality, Av is an exceedingly skilled mage specializing in storm magic. In particular, he has a talent for nimbomancy, or the control of clouds. He has a lesser talent for direct combat with his magic--although the lightning bolts and lashing rain ensure that he's no slouch there, either--but rather, when engaging, is far more adept at tactics and strategy. His fog and cloud control allow him to craft expert illusions and massive concealment and for one of his age, he has a near-encyclopaedic knowledge of military strategy, born both of natural aptitude and of enormous amounts of study. As a side of effect of his long military experience, he is able to remain unbelievably calm under pressure.

Oh, was the magic also supposed to be in elvish? I was unaware. As it stands, they are translated as such: Andom têllumar erentêl vanastel means cloud-fill-garden-blind and Andom arbricopis êthen olmfeil is translated as cloud-sight-transcend-all. By all, what it means is that squad that he had in mind when casting the spell.

I'd like to be in the dungeon too.

Name: Sergei
Age: 48
Race: Human

Looks: From a distance, the man seems almost normal, his black hair long and tattered, shorting a short beard and mustache. Upon closer view, however, it is quickly apparent he has only one steely eye- the right has been gouged out, leaving a scar. The cheek on the same side was also ripped open, the half-glasgow exposing a row of teeth and gums. His left arm has been severed right below the elbow, leaving only a ragged stump. His stomach has a messily healed wound from a puncture, among a small battery of smaller battlescars across his body.
The muscles in his right arm and back are overdeveloped, to the point of near deformity.
Typically, he prefers to wear a sleeveless hauberk and frayed red surcoat, with an iron bracer strapped onto his good arm. His left shoulder is covered with a white shoulder cape, partly concealing his missing arm. On his hip he likes to wear a heavy, well-worn war sword and a long dagger.

Bio: Sergei was, in his younger years, the lord presiding over a particularly ferocious band of knights, famed for their ruthless talent on the battlefield. Under his leadership, Sergei led them from battle to battle, wherever their lords desire, with only the mission to burn everything in their path. Violence, however, is begot with violence, and their numbers dwindled steadily.
At the site of his final battle at the ruins of some forgotten castle, Sergei alone hacked dozens into pieces as the dust and sand and blood clouded the sight of every last one of his knights, including his own son. It was also here that Sergei lost his arm, eye, and cheek. Miraculously, he survived, cauterizing his stump on a piece of burning lumber.
Sergei was now crippled, alone, and stripped of his lands and servants. It was only natural for him to return to the one thing he excelled at. After retraining himself to use a sword one-handed, he became a particularly violent mercenary, selling himself to whichever lord needed the usage of a heavy iron blade. His life since then has been a constant cycle of fighting and hedonistic spending on whatever caught his eye, sans the perks of nobility.
Most recently, he has found himself locked in a dungeon for the charges of public intoxication, and striking a town guard.

Other: Despite having one arm, its muscles and his back's are trained to freakish levels, giving Sergei great upper body strength, and allowing him to compensate. In this way, he can even wield a heavy war sword with deadly effectiveness.
On the other hand, it and the facial scars are a dead giveaway of who he is- anyone familiar with matters of war are sure to have heard of a one-armed swordsman, let alone one with an impressive record.

[b]Name:Jaques (Princess Rosalind)
[b]Age: 15
[b]Race: human
[b]Looks: In general, she has short auburn hair and green eyes, and light skin, slightly tanned on the face, with slightly calloused hands. She wears a blue tunic, a white undershirt, and beige tights, with brown boots. Under her clothes she has a bandaged chest to give her a more masculine appearance. At first glance, she looks to be a twelve year old boy.

[b]Bio: Rosalind is a princess of a warring kingdom. To ensure her safety, she was sent off, disguised as a young boy named Jaques and currently adventures aimlessly waiting for the war in her kingdom to be over.

(Some extra personal stuff about her) She doesn't care what pronouns are used for her (when roleplaying I use male pronouns when she is in disguise and fem pronouns when her sex is revealed.)

(I am also so sorry for such a short bio. I promise that if I am accepted that my posts will have much better content)

I'll just leave this here.

Name: Stephanie Stints

Age: 21

Race: Half-Elf

Looks: A young woman with long, raven hair and sharp amber eyes. Her skin is somewhat pale, and decidedly unblemished. Her lean build is usually buried under a set of high-quality green vestments, though underneath she wears a suit of leather armor for protection. She’s somewhat short for her age, and her Elven heritage makes her quite light as well when compared to a full Human. As with all Half-Elves, her ears have a dull point to them and her eyes seem to have a mischievous fey glint.

Bio: Stephanie Stints had heard of her heritage from the rest of the townsfolk in the slums before she had ever heard it from her own mother. The bastard of a Human noble’s dalliance, no doubt. Some rich ass went slumming, looked for an easy woman, promised her the world, and left her with a child and empty assurances. Stephanie’s mother scraped by however she could, which often meant far less than legal actions, but the pair loved each other and that love made life tolerable despite their lack of food or funds. One day, however, Stephanie’s mother crossed the wrong man. Or group, rather. She had stolen a precious golden medallion from one of her clients as she left, and this client had turned out to be a higher-up in the mob. Stephanie returned home from a busy day of picking pockets to find her mother bound and gagged in a chair, a group of men surrounding her. One of the men restrained Stephanie, her screams muffled by his rough hand, and made her watch as they snatched the medallion and slowly tortured her mother to death. She averted her eyes whenever she could, however, concentrating on a silver serpent on top of the leader’s cane. Years later, this serpent would be all she could remember, burned into her mind forever. It was then that she understood the power of money, and she vowed to do whatever she could to never be in a situation like that. She was a thief to start, but quickly moved to legitimate business when she had enough funds to invest. She and her money were pure again, and she began making a name for herself in the business world. She now finds herself travelling to Valstand castle to sell exotic peppercorns, having heard of an upcoming celebration. A new queen calls for an expensive party, and expensive party food requires expensive spices. It’s a guaranteed gold mine.
