Cynthia was always a pretty child. Dark shiny hair, dark expressive eyes, a quick mind and a diligent student, she was doted upon by her peers and teachers. An only child to a single father, her mother having remarried when Cynthia was small, her father worked hard to provide his daughter with everything she needed or wanted (within reason). Their life was not extravagant but it was comfortable and it was enough.

But as she grew and her peers did as well it became clear something was different about Cynthia. While still an excellent student, and lovelier than ever, she did not change when her friends did. Surely she was just a late bloomer? Although her body belied that denial. As the months and then years passed Cynthia learned she could still get what she wanted, and even be better than the others if she relied on her looks and her mind. Graduating with high marks she went to college. Of course without magic she couldn’t get any of the particularly glamorous degrees, but she would not let her father down by refusing to attend higher education. It was, after all, what he wanted for his daughter.

But schooling for an ungifted girl became expensive, and Cynthia knew she had little chance of getting a high paying position anywhere. Rather than take out loans she started using her looks to get what she wanted. An older gentleman caller would certainly be willing to pay for her meals, or even her books…or even her rent… The more she was willing to put up with in terms of ‘friends’ the more she was able to get.

And so graduating with good marks (for an ungifted one) she set out into the world. Only to find it uninterested in her. Here she couldn’t smile and flirt her way into positions that needed magic. After months of searching and being denied, even smirked at Cynthia turned back to the one way she had ever successfully gotten by.
It wasn’t so bad, or at least she told herself as much. She chose who her ‘clients’ were and for the most part they were just lonely, well to do people who could over look her lacking abilities for her pretty face and willingness to do as they wanted. Who needed pride? Who needed dignity? Cynthia knew she could afford neither.

Luca is a friendly soul, one who enjoys time around other people the most. On the outside he is always bright and energetic, quick to talk and make others feel better where he can. Though kind and caring, not a person who would purposefully hurt another, he can often not properly think through what he says and can inadvertently cause offence. Along with that the way he acts can be very in people's face and overwhelming. Though very person orientated Luca tries not to depend on others, more because he wants to keep up the facade that he is always full of energy and not show how he actually feels. Just looking at him you wouldn't have thought that he was affected at all by not normally developing magic, though of course it was something he struggled with growing up - he just did it alone. Luca is also easily distracted and has a habit of never properly thinking things, meaning that he can do something on an impulse and have it blow up on his face. His quick reactions can help him here but it doesn't change the fact that he rarely goes into something with a plan, even when he should. It's not to say he isn't sensible, just likely to do something on a whim. Even with this if he finds something he really likes Luca will get stuck into it.

~ History ~

Luca was a cheerful child, born to two incredibly intelligent parents (even by current time standards) and with one older brother. He got on well with his family and was especially close to his brother, Sebastian. He was always a little bit odd, his high energy meant he struggled to just sit down and pursue the kinds of sciences a child was expected to have an interest in. Instead he would rather be running about, learning how to cartwheel and climbing whatever he could. His parents put up with it - they assumed that he would grow out of it, and all of his teachers thought it was the oddity of a blossoming genius. Between this and his bright personality he had no lack of friends. And he was smart, he just had no urge to act on it.

Slowly everyone his age began developing powers, and it seemed like everyday someone came in with one. Luca's brother had developed his own earlier than most, and Luca had looked forward to being one of the first in his class. But soon he was one of the few left without them. He was yet to go through the physical changes of puberty, though, so maybe he was just a slow developer? But the power never came. It came as a shock to all; after all who didn't develop powers? His parents tried everything to find out what was wrong as Luca slowly lost what friends he had, ostracized from most of the society. He bore it with a grin, though, only breaking down when spending time with Sebastian - the one person who stuck with him through it. He had no motivation to be academic before his power didn't develop, and even less after. Refusing to go to college caused a massive argument with his parents but he got his way. After all they had essentially given up hope on him and focused all their ambitions on his brother.

Luca got a simple job, baking, and threw himself into it. He found he enjoyed it if he tried at least and tried not to let the stigma get to him. He channelled his energy into a similar sportiness he'd had as a child - after all what did it matter if he did one more thing that wasn't approved of? It wasn't exactly an amazing life, but it couldve been worse.

It was after four years of working as a baker that a strange man walking into where he worked; someone Luca was sure he'd seen before, but didn't have a strong recollection of it. He doesn't remember much after that apart from blacking out. When he came to he was given an explanation, told about the old magic that him and four others now had, he embraced the idea. A circus like show, something that no one had put on for years, sounded thrilling to him. And so Luca threw himself into it, enjoying the newfound socialization with people who has grown up with him and how much energy he could put into his work. And it was nice to not be a failure, for once.

Everyone looks to have gotten their first choice, woo hoo! Lucky ducks.

I'll work on my character tonight and tomorrow and we should get things rolling either Sat or Sun. I do have family coming tonight and staying for a week so they may take of some of my time.

@FernStone I didn't really need the additional paragraph about his personality, as it just adds more clutter in my mind but it's totally fine to keep it, I just didn't need folks putting in extra work when we've got an IC to divulge contextual details about how they react to situations and people.

Moving on to history! "But soon he was one of the few left without them." Assuming the city they're in is vast, he wouldn't be considered part of a 'few' without a power but the only one, so you should tweak that phrasing. And your final paragraph regarding the reunion is also unneeded since that is something I'll be explaining in my introduction post. And the awareness of having a power shouldn't be included in the CS since that will come a tad bit into the RP itself.

Other than those things needing tweaks, you're free to post in the CS tab and you're also given Air, congrats!

@Silverink You gave additional information a bit prematurely as your CS shouldn't include life after the 'second' kidnapping. The first kidnapping is fine but the CS itself should not have information about them discovering their skills (or finding fame) since it will happen in the IC itself, as opposed to before we kick things off. So the two paragraphs in his personality section can probably be deleted.

Like above, your history needs to be rewritten a bit since halfway through he gets his power but that isn't the case. He'll be taught the power in the IC so you'll have to change the half or your history. You could touch upon his first kidnapping if you'd like or you could talk more about the others in his family, since it sounds like he had a big boisterous upbringing and still felt like the black sheep of sorts.

You'll be given Beast but you can't post in the CS tab until I see the edits done on your guy. :)

@Panic Like SI, you may be better off deleting the paragraph portion of your girl's personality section. We won't talk about their circus life/powers since they won't have been informed of them yet.

Your history looks good to me, save for the last paragraph which you'll need to delete but you can touch upon it in the IC, likely your introduction post.

So with her job, you'll just put maid instead saying "before the show" etc.

And she'll be getting Greenery. So once you tweak those and run it by me again, you'll be able to post it in the CS tab.

In terms of the history I didn't mean it that way, I meant more one of the few who was yet to develop and then the others still got powers. But yeah that wording definitely does noooottt get this across so I shall change that and delete the last paragraph of the history as well :)

When FS edits their CS and posts it, we should be good to go. I'm still working on my sheets myself but I'd like to get things rolling by Sunday at the latest. Since I have family coming in tonight, it'll be tough to know when I'll have a few hours to myself but if FS gets their done tomorrow afternoon I might be able to get the intro up then but it's tough to say.
