I corrected a few borders, and changed some things around in the Middle East, to fit the goals of each rebel movement.

I also made a color indicating the ideological leaning of each government, coded from blue/capitalist to red/communist, with the neutral colors corresponding to ideologically neutral or unstable states. There are probably a few mistakes, but it gives us a general idea of the situation.

There are probably some imprecisions. Do feel free to correct whatever needs to be. For Finland and the St Petersburg commune especially, I wasn't quite sure of the borders, since each map shows something different.

(Oh my god, never again will I change the color of every single pixel off Cascadia, Chile or in the Pacific Ocean. Ughhhh)

The Kola peninsula and Karelia are part of the St Petersburg communes.

The thing I am unsure about is super-syria. What is that about?

The Syrian rebel movement was aiming to obtain independence for Greater Syria, which historically and culturally is one region, especially since there wasn't the Jewish settlement movement in the 20's and 30's. So instead of retaining the four modern states of Lebanon, Syria, Israel and Jordan, which exist only due to colonial shuffling between France and the UK after WWI, I just fused them into one.

So North Finland is really just North Finland? There are only mooses there, though, how can it hold an equal fight against the South?

Corrected versions:

Near the end of the MCF RP, a player joined as a separate Palestinian rebel movement and managed success before Syria presumably did. That would mean that the super-syria movement would have had to invaded a newly made sovereign nation.

Looks more or less good for Europe. Though I will admit the area around Hungary looks a little hard to decipher. Did you give Slovakia to Hungary? I can't tell. As it is in the summaries, Czech Republic and Slovakia joined the Slavic Union (Poland) following some uprisings in 1970. It's part of Keen's history of Poland, and I chose to leave it that way (as vague as the uprisings are) because we had agreed to leave Poland as a significant power, so I didn't want to mess with it too much.

Aside from that, it looks like you gave Prussia a bit more land. But if it makes more sense this way, I don't mind. Same for Croatia.

EDIT: The Capitalist/Communist map ain't that precise though. I think the Slavic Union has leftist leanings and sympathizes with communists (if it isn't socialist itself), for example.

Oh, okay! I wasn't aware of the Palestinian movement. I would question the motive of such a distinct rebellion, but fine.

I myself have no idea what happened with Hungary. I checked several preexisting maps, and none included Slovakia as part of the Slavic Union. Yet Aaron's map showed that Slovakia had been partitioned, so really I just kept The Nexerus' version.

As for Prussia, I didn't change anything from the original version of the map, except adding Burgenland. Honestly I would've added more land if left to myself, but since the border's been ambiguously placed there since the beginning, I preferred not to modify anything.

EDIT: The situation changes all the time, I colored it according to what I recollected, but since my recollections date from 1977, it's quite unsurprising some states are wrong. Brazil, for example, I believe is leaning more and more socialist, but as of a few years ago it wasn't.

Edited version of the map (with Palestine):

So where does this leave Slovakia? I really can't tell from these maps, I'm stupid like that. I seem to recall Slovakia being part of Poland, and I think I read it in Keen's history of it. But then I also seem to remember Slovakia being listed as being up for grabs. So I don't know. If it makes more sense for it to be independent or part of Hungary, then I think we should do that. It opens up another country for new players, and it's not like Slovakia is that important to a powerful Poland/Slavic Union. Taking it away won't hurt it much.

According to the Poland entry in the PoW wiki, only Bohemia was annexed, but then it mentions Austria as a power comprising also Hungary and Czechoslovakia, and I can't recall any moment when that was the case, so I don't know if it should be trusted.

Anyways, I'm going to do summaries when I get home because right now I'm listening to Radiohead, enjoying this US History lecture, and watching the blizzard outside.

The way I have it in the summary is:

The Austria-Hungarian monarchy collapsed a little later, in 1922, for more or less the same reason as in real life. That same date, Austria and Hungary, now separate countries, end their participation in the Great War. But Czech Republic and Croatia/Slovenia remained Austrian. I kept Slovakia part of Austria too (because I kept what I thought I had read from Keen). Then in 1970, Czech Republic and Slovakia have some uprisings (again, just going by Keen's history) and the territories are absorbed by Poland. Austria, being all weak and whatnot, fails to fight back and just gets bullied basically.

Everything that had a link to Keen's Poland was a clusterfuck really, I just tried to make sense of a few tiny things and left the rest more or less the same.

But again, I'm alright with going with whatever makes more sense.

That Austria you are talking about came from a player who joined and made maybe three posts as a separate Austria. I think this was back when Hugs was still France and Feo was Switzo-Germany. So yeh, that was all canned and doesn't count anymore.

Probably not. It won't have that kind of power. Isn't it 3rd International?

It's a part of the Third International, and in all is probably about on par with Vietnam, so it doesn't have a crazy amount of economic or military strength. Though with the US having been booted out of the Comintern by this point it would be the sole nation and current leader of the North American bloc.

And at best it could be argued that China and the Third International is the new ironic leader of the "free" world.
