It was the middle of the afternoon for Mariner Bay as the crew of Lightspeed Aqua Base HQ did their usual jobs running back and forth checking in for crimes, and other hardships. Their captain was Anderson Cooper a former member of the Angel Grove Police Department, and military veteran who use to fly jets for the US National Guard. It was after the old lightspeed rangers all but dissolved due to the vanishing of their old leader the Red Ranger Simon Wentz that things got complicated, and combined with a lack of actual monster assaults since they defeated an ancient evil long ago Mariner Bay had seen itself enter a rather normal state. However of course things have been more complicated as of late. The monsters have reemerged and while weak at first even the Titanium Ranger was having issues bringing in the monsters to defeat them.

So they stand in the middle of the Aqua Base, the new candidates for Lightspeed Rescue. Anderson sat in his desk as he looked at the handful of candidates around him. He had them brought here roughly a half an hour ago and after some routine health checks from the Lightspeed medics as a precaution they were deemed good to go. As the man, clad in a lightspeed uniform leaned and a black military style cap, leaned forward he looked at each of the people there. "This is your last chance to leave now. After you join Lightspeed you will be bound to secrecy, more so than you already have after entering Aqua Base, and you'll forever be given the duty to serve, and protect. The people of Mariner Bay will need heroes. It will be difficult but rewarding. I know that you should all have made up your minds but I like to give people one last chance. This will be dangerous. Rangers lead the win. And you will be acting as a first response team to highly dangerous, and violent situations. And you will be the public face of Lightspeed together. So does anyone have any doubts?" questioned Anderson as he gestured around him noting the various pictures of the old lightspeed team, and pictures of the city itself. Maps, and other objects lined the walls of the metal room, and in the middle of the office sat a replica of the city itself. Framed medals from his military days, and other such was also visible on his desk, and on various shelves. "I expect the best from you. I want you to accept this not because it is easy. But because it is hard, and the right thing to do."

When Will got the invitation to join Lightspeed Rescue he at first thought it was a mistake, after all he wasn't in active duty anymore. However when he started the process of refusing the offer he came across the name Daniel Bailey, an old friend of his father, which explained why he was asked and made him reconsider. Eventually he decided to accept the offer and quit his job as an airline pilot.

Knowing that he would be no doubt getting into "fistfights" Will worked out a training regime to get him into shape and to brush up on his somewhat rusty fighting skills. Naturally he didn't get too far before it was time to meet the other rangers and his new superior officer, but it was better then nothing.

Eventually the big day arrived and Will, dressed in an army green jacket, white shirt and blue jeans was picked up by two men in suits and brought to the bay the city was named for. Honestly he thought it was rather strange that the Base was built underwater but he figured there had be at least one reason for it. Before long the other recruits for Lightspeed Rescue arrived and a submarine brought them to the Aqua Base. Deciding to use his time at least somewhat productively while also enjoying the view he decided to introduce himself to his future team mates "The name is Will Griffin, and I'm the new Green Ranger."

As expected they arrived at the Base pretty fast, but the following health check up while reasonable was a surprise to Will. Still before long they were all sent off to meet with Cooper. The captain gave a quick speech about the dangers they would face if the accepted the job and what Will believed a customary last chance to back out, not that he thought anyone would take it. After waiting a few seconds for anyone to say something and expecting the red Ranger to go first he spoke up. "I made up my mind a while back and even if I only got the job due to family connections I'm not backing out." Sure he could have kept his connections a secret but he believed that it was for the best if he was open about it instead of risking a reveal at the worst moment.
