[OOC] Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue - Duty, and Diligence

The city of Mariner Bay, California has seen many things in its time from a high surge in crime following an invasion from outer space, to the dangers of the supernatural elements due to the history's original foundation sitting on an ancient burial ground. As the Space Rangers saved the world from the threat of an extra galactic invader the people of earth began to put their trust in the rangers. However the Space Rangers left Earth to help out further sections of the galaxy, and a few years later the Terra Venture project was launched from Angel Grove, and its fate remains unknown. On Earth some new ranger teams emerged not the least of which was the Lightspeed Rangers formally backed by the government and their tech recovered from older teams that were defeated in battle. The first Lightspeed Team was renown for their bravery in the face of danger, and their ability to save others in even the most dire of circumstances. However the team fractured after the red, and green ranger suddenly vanished, and the yellow, blue, and pink rangers all retired soon after feeling the workload pile up they turned in their morphers leaving the Titanium Ranger the sole remaining member of the team on active duty.

Its been a few months since the team was formally disbanded, and now the city of Mariner Bay once more needs its rangers as law enforcement struggles to keep up with a sudden resurgence of demonic monsters. The new rangers carefully scouted from various locations meet together in order to once again allow for a team to answer the call for Lightspeed Rescue.

1. All Standard roleplay rules are in effect.
2. I am allowed to decline something, or reject it for any reason. If I feel something doesn't fit the roleplay I won't allow it.

Biography: Lily was raised in a troubled household her father died when she was only 5 years old, her mother slipped into a depression and became an alchoholic and began neglecting Lily and her younger brothers. To fight this Lily learned to take care of her siblings and became very motherly at home while at school she garnered a reputation for getting into fights. Her Gym teacher took that and channeled it into teaching her Martial Arts. When she graduated High School she gained acceptance to medical school and became an RN. When everything happened Lightsp[feed reached out to her stating that her martial arts background and her medical training make her a perfect candidate for the Pink ranger role. Not wanting to see any more families ripped apart the way hers was she jumped at the opportunity to join the team.

Biography:
Growing up an orphan sucks, but King was fortunate on some level. There were far worse places to grow up than Sunnyside Orphanage. It wasn't luxurious or even what one could consider middle class, but the caretakers there clearly cared about the state of the place and the kids living there. That was more than one could say for some other places out there. It was here that King spent his childhood, never getting picked for adoption namely due to the trouble he often caused alongside his "brother" Mark. Mark wasn't actually King's brother, they just happened to have arrived at Sunnyside at roughly the same time and thus latched on to each other in a brotherly way. It wasn't that the two of them didn't want to be taken by a family, it was simply that they refused to be taken by separate families, thus the two often sabotaged each other's chances for adoption solely so that they could stick together. Eventually, though, they became too old to stay and had to move out on their own.

Even as Teenagers, King and Mark got themselves into trouble on a regular basis. Shoplifting, getting into brawls with wannabe street gangs and even stealing a car on more than one occasion. So as young adults, it seemed appropriate the two wound up working at mechanic garage that moonlighted as an illegal chop shop. It was far from normal, but it wasn't completely terrible either. Despite the shady dealings, the owner was actually pretty chill guy who apparently only turned to shady deals because the legitimate side of his business simply wasn't making enough money to survive on. But Mark seemed to get just a little too into the shadier side of the business. He became the go to for negotiating illegal sales, which meant he was often chatting it up with the local street gangs and racing crews. Evidently Mark must have said the wrong thing because one day one of the bigger gangs - called the Sharks - started making threats against Mark. King, not entirely knowing the situation, leaped to his brother's defense. They won the fight, but that win bit them, hard.

That night, there was a fire. And Sunnyside Orphanage burned to the ground. Somehow they knew enough about their background to target their childhood home. No one was killed, but the damage was done. To make matters worse, evidence was planted to implicate King and Mark as the perpetrators of the fire. People who knew them well enough knew the two were notorious for doing stupid things, so few people questioned these allegations. But King, once again adamant about coming to his brother's defense, did the unthinkable. He confessed to the arson, plead guilty to the crime, and also under the assertion that he acted alone. He took a bullet so that Mark wouldn't have to. King was convicted of charges of Arson among several others and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

After nearly 3 years, King was suddenly released without warning. He was practically shoved out the door after having his clothes and effects returned to him. But he was confused, King wasn't even close to finishing his sentence, and he hadn't filed for any kind of appeal or parole either. Someone had pulled strings, that much was clear. And King soon met that someone, as they drove up to him in a yellow Hum-V and instructed him to get in. The driver introduced himself as Ryan, and he told King that his organization was able to use its clout to get King a probationary release. He said he'd followed King's case, and was also aware of his history of stealing and of fighting. He told King that such a skillset could come in handy, as well as King's unique knowledge of some of Mariner Bay's backstreets and shadier neighborhoods. All King had to do was join Ryan's "team" and he could be a free man, and even get the chance to clear his name. King wasn't exactly in a position to refuse.

Biography: Blake had a rough past always got into fights in school sometimes not getting along with people but he out of that when he went to college still kinda stubborn and sometimes doesn't work well with others but he's a good person and cares for his friends. He was in MMA and boxing. He was into extreme sports and as well as a career in sports but he ultimately became a cop part time and extreme sports full time. Then he was chosen to be a ranger in lightspeed.

Biography: With the Griffin's being a military family Will joining the airforce after college was no surprise. While not the best in his class he managed to become a fighter pilot without too much trouble. For the most part his career was unremarkable, until the invasion.

During the invasion he managed to take down several Velocifighters despite them being more maneuverable than his plane. However he was eventually overwhelmed and forced to eject and even then he would have been killed if it wasn't for one of the Space Rangers. While Will wasn't traumatized that incident still convinced him to leave the airforce as soon as possible and do something less dangerous with his life.

Eight months later he moved to the city of Mariner Bay, a move partly inspired by the rumors of a new team of Rangers being trained there and got a job as an airline pilot. While he was happy he wasn't being shot at anymore he missed the excitement and action, not that life in Mariner Bay was boring, so when he was asked to replace the original Green LightSpeed Ranger by a friend of the family working at the Aqua Base he took the job.
Fully aware that he got chosen due to connections instead of skill he is planning to prove himself a good choice for the job

@vancexentan Quick question. Who's commanding the Aqua Base? My biography implies that it's Ryan, but your own biography implies that Ryan may not have ever even joined Lightspeed in the first place. If I need to change something, please tell me.

@DoubleI've already said in the interest check the original continuity is not in play. I haven't named the commander yet but I can call him Ryan too if it makes it easier.

@Blade17Character definitely needs more of a backstory. I'm willing to let it fly for pink but that character isn't just a run of the mill MMA fighter. Lightspeed is a rescue operation service run by the government.

@Duthguy I'd like to ask the same of you. While he has a more valid reason for joining the force why wouldn't they just recruit someone out of the active air force? I get that he fought off the aliens in the invasion but I feel there could be a little more behind the character.
