Serena smiled and said “when my power first showed up…I was living with my boyfriend at the time. I learned all about this with him every step of the way. Then…I got attacked in the ER and I ran. He came with me and we almost got out but the guy had a gun…he was aiming for me to slow me down but…Logan took the shot. He used himself as a shield and…I couldn’t save him. He died in my arms…” she tilted Josh’s face to look at her and said “you ah e to remember yourself…because if anything happens to you…she will be alone. And the world be darker without you in it. If you need to let it out now…I’m right here”

Trish was standing outside the door, silent tears running down her cheeks.

John looked over and said “I just figured out what happened…I’ll be okay just have to clean my eyes out” he leaned his head back snd laid the rag on his eyes, gasping as it started to burn. “Bloody hell! That hurts more then I thought it would. Make sure I don’t move it off till it’s done”

Josh listened to her open up to him, as he had with her. He felt so bad for her to have witnessed her boyfriend's death, barely being able to imagine what that must have felt like to actually see a loved one die in your arms. At least with his folks, he and Trish weren't there to witness the accident, sparing them both of quite a bit of torment. Sure, it was no easy ride for them as it was, but he knew if he was in Serena's position, it would have been so much worse. He looked at her when she made him to, looking her in the eyes as she said some of the sweetest things he had ever heard. "Thank you" he said to her, hugging her.

Kay nodded, trusting John in that he knew what he was doing. She walked over and sat next to him. "You got it. I'm right here to make sure you see it through" she told him. "SO how long will it take?" she asked him.

Serena hugged him back, smiling softly as she rubbed his back. “It will be okay…I know it will…we all stick to together now…we are a family. We stick together alright?” She moved back and smiled at him again, resting a hand on his cheek.

John was shaking as he fought not to throw the towel off his face and said “too long…this really stings”

Josh listened to her speak, surprised that she considered him and Trish family so soon. Yet she brought him a sense peace that he didn't think he ever would have had. He leaned into her hand when she pulled back and held his cheek in her hand, closing his eyes and savouring the touch before looking at her and nodding, "thank you Serena" he told her warmly.

Kay grabbed his hands and held them firmly but not painfully to help stop him from removing the towel off his eyes. "you can do this John, it'll be over soon enough" she told him, hoping she was right in that assumption.

Serena smiled and said “always…now, you can’t let it all fall on you anymore…got it?” She smiled her true smile at him, one she hadn’t used in a very long time.

John gasped and said “Chas…pin me down…Kay, can you hold the towel on my face…this is going to get so much worse in a few minutes”

Josh nodded at her words and wiped his face with the back of his hand before smiling back at her genuinely. "you're one amazing woman Serena" he told her before kissing her cheek, "Thank you" he said once more. He noticed her smile and how much more genuine it seemed to be, even compared to her previous smiles and he was glad that he got to see it.

Both Kay and Chas nodded, "Sure" they replied in unison at John's requests and instantly jumped into action. Chas took over pinning John down and Kay got up and leaned over the back of the couch so she could hold the towel in place over his eyes, whilst also being out of the way of Chas's arms at the same time.

Serena blushed with the kiss and moved back a little, a little surprised by the kiss. She then said “I’m glad I could help…should we go find the others?” Then she held up a hand and the pair heard steps moving from the door. She asked softly “did Trish know what you told me?”

John cried out in pain as the water hit more of his eyes, shaking and arching his back more as it went on. He fought not to pull the towel off, the pain burning like lava on his eyes.

Josh nodded at her suggestion, surprised himself that he took the opportunity to do such an action, but he didn't regret it. When the sound of familiar light footsteps were heard, he looked at the doorway and saw Trish standing there, "not everything, not about me anyway" he whispered to Serena. He then put a smile on his face and walked over, picking Trish up, "hey trouble" he said to her playfully.

Kay kept ahold of the towel over his eyes, refusing to take it off of him, just as Chas refused to let go of John's arms. he kept a firm strong hold on his mate. "It'll be over soon mate, just hold on" he told him.

Trish looked at him, tears in her eyes. “Why didn’t you tell me? Why…” Serena slowly got up and went to the door. “Here, use my room to talk okay. I think they need help downstairs…”

John cried out again as there was a flash and the towel burst into flames and vanished in smoke. John fell to the side against Chas, passing out from the pain.

Josh's face dropped when he saw Trish get tears in her eyes and nodded as Serena told them they could use her room to talk. "thanks Serena" he told her before walking with Trish to the bed again and sitting down, keeping Trish on his lap. "I didn't tell you because I wanted to focus on keeping you happy" he told her.

When the towel burst into flames Kay instinctively let go seeing it vanish. She looked at John and then at Chas. "he'll be okay, right?" she asked him, "he should be" Chas replied.

Trish wiped her face and said “but that means your not happy…you’ve had to throw all your dreams away because of me…” Serena sighed and headed down the steps to find the others. She walked in to see Chas laying John on the couch. “What happened? Is he alright?”

John’s eyes looked like he had black eyes and his pulse was a little fast. But he would be fine.

"oh Trish..." Josh sighed, lifting her chin to make her look at him, "listen to me. I am happy, I have the most incredible little sister in existence. And I would make the same decisions all over again if given the options again. You mean more to me than anyone or anything else. So I don't want you ever blaming yourself for my decisions. I may not have grieved properly like you have but that doesn't mean I'm unhappy okay?" he told her.

Kay looked up when Serena walked into the room and nodded," he'll be okay. When he got rid of that negative presence from you, he stupidly looked at the bright light that came out and it got into his eyes a bit. So we had to cleanse his eyes. But he's okay" she explained.

Trish looked at him then said “but…what about Serena? Don’t you care about her?”

Serena frowned and walked over, moving hair out of his face. “I didn’t even know that could happen. Maybe we need to keep shades around for next time…” she looked around and then looked at Kay. “Okay…what changed? Something is different”

Josh let her take in what he said and smiled when she asked where Serena stood. "of course I do. At least, I'm really starting to. But Trish, you'll always be my number one okay?" he replied to her, kissing the top of her head.

Kay and Chas nodded, "agreed. It's one reason why he always tells people to shield their eyes if there's going to be any kind of bright burst of light from something. He just didn't take his own advice this time" Chas replied. Kay looked at Serena when she aimed the last bit at her and wondered how she knew something was different, "what do you mean....different?" she asked.

Trish wiped her eyes and said “no…I can’t be number one always…you won’t be happy if your always worrying about me…”

Serena gave her a look, then looked at Chas. “Shadows talk…so, they did it? Please tell me Trish wasn’t here at the time?” John groaned a little, turning his head a little.

Josh continued to smile and hugged her tightly. "I can be happy and have you first. You're my baby sister Trish. I'm always gonna worry about you, even when you're older and get a boyfriend or be old enough to move out. I will worry. It's part of being an older brother and a guardian. But I can be happy too"he explained.

When Serena said it was the shadows that were telling what happened, she went a bit red in the cheeks. "no Trish wasn't in the house, she was out with me getting ice cream for everyone which is probably melted by now" Chas replied. "but yes, they slept together, as if Kay's blushing wasn't a big enough giveaway" he smirked, hearing John groan and come round.

Trish sighed and said “are you sure? Are you really sure that you can be happy too? I want you to be happy and have a life…maybe with Serena?”

Serena smirked and said “Ice cream is in the freezer. My shadows found the bags out. They have a helpful hand here and there…” John groaned again and Serena added “I think his trying to come around…give him a hand?”

Josh smiled and nodded to his sister, "I promise I can be happy too and we'll see how things go with Serena yeah?" he chuckled, finding it so sweet that she was trying to set him up with Serena. "You like her too huh?" he added, brushing her hair behind her ear and tidying it up a bit in the process.

Kay smirked for a moment when Serena said the shadows found the bag and managed to put it in the freezer, making her realise she really didn't notice the shadows move around at all. When John groaned again, she looked over at him and smiled fondly at him as she placed a hand on his arm. Serena was right, they did need to help him come round. "John, we need you to wake up now" she said softly.

Trish nodded and said “I’ve been asking about her…she’s a good person Josh. Selfless…that’s what you need. Someone who can be there for you…”

John cursed softly and opened his eyes. “Oh that hurts…where are the shades…” Serena smiled and the room got darker. “Better?” John nodded and said “what happened?”

Josh smiled at Trish, "Oh you have huh? Well I'm happy that you're looking out for me" he replied to her, "Now, shall we head downstairs or do you wanna talk about anything else?" he asked her. He wanted to make sure she was happier than she was when she walked into the room as he always hated seeing his sister cry or be upset over anything.

Kay was glad to see him awake again, even if he was feeling a bit groggy. "The towel got rid of everything I'm guessing it burst into flames and then disintegrated in my hands." she explained to him, comfortingly rubbing his arm on instinct. Chas noticed and couldn't help but smile slightly to himself.
