[ ❇ ] W H A T I S D - D A Y ? D-Day: Lost World is an apocalyptic modern day roleplay centered around a classified military experiment gone wrong—Project JX-04132, an American attempt at weaponizing teleportation. Funded by the Department of Defense, the project was designed for the US military which had been interested in acquiring the power to transport entire armies and fleets within a blink of an eye. Although initial prototype tests proved successful, in the process of doing so they had unknowingly ripped the fabric of time and space. Present day suddenly entangled itself with the past, and multiple timelines merged together into a singular universe branch. The world was lit ablaze with waypoints, acting as makeshift gates to ancient versions of Earth, which in turn allowed dinosaurs and other extinct, prehistoric fauna to funnel out from these portals in droves. The creatures that emerged from these portals would run amok across the globe and devastate population centers no matter the country or continent. For all intents and purposes, D-Day had fallen upon humanity. As of that day, despite all the technological advances they had made, humanity was no longer on the top of the food chain. [ ❇ ] W H A T A B O U T O U R C H A R A C T E R S ? Good news! You don't have to worry about the pseudo-military science at all; it's just there to give background fluff to the setting. Instead, we will be focusing on the survival aspect of it. After all, who doesn't enjoy a good dinosaur chase scene? Your character is a current denizen of the fictional town of Orrick, Indiana, which is painfully midwestern as it gets. In the interest of supporting Orrick's local high school, you have decided to go to a fundraiser being held at the nearby drive-in movie theater to watch the original Jurassic Park. Yet as the movie progresses, something feels off. The ground seems to shake. Nearby trees sway in the distance. Something big is coming, and it's hungry. But you're just imagining that, right? Got too into the movie, that's all... right? Short Background

Born the first son of two practitioners of the Baháʼí Faith, Hakim had a peaceful upbringing. For most of his school years, Hakim could be found with his nose in a book. This love of reading was nurtured by his parents, often taking him on trips to the local book store. By the time he became a teenager, Hakim was very well read and began to volunteer at the local library. The countless hours he spent among the librarians convinced him that he too wanted to be a librarian.

Hakim would leave his hometown to attend university, pursuing a degree in library science. After several years of long work, Hakim graduated with good grades, degree in hand. However he would have a hard time finding a job in his local area, so he would work menial tasks, attempting to pay off his student loans. Eventually a job would become available, the catch being that it was several hours away from where Hakim lived. But after a quick deliberation, Hakim would take the job, moving to the small town of Orrick, Indiana. There he would become the head librarian at Orrick High School. He would also become the faculty adviser to both the book club and film club, as film was his second love. As such he helped plan the fund raiser showing of Jurassic Park, being one of the first people to arrive at the drive-in theater.

Partly due to his Baháʼí Faith upbringing, Hakim is pretty open to all religions, though he doesn’t affiliate with any one in particular. He’s more spiritual and less dogmatic. Hakim is also a Type-2 Diabetic, and takes a regular dose of metformin tablets. Face claim is Avan Jogia.

Unfortunately, I think I'm going to can this RP before it starts. This RP hasn't really gathered much interest both here and in the check. I've also been distracted elsewhere, namely the holidays (dealing with hyper-anxious dogs around fireworks) and dealing with another RP of mine that is currently actively imploding. I'm sorry if I've wasted anyone's time, but I honestly don't think much will come out of it on top of it being an awkward time for me to GM something.
