Hello! I'm M/32 Ravion the Red. I consider myself an amateur role-player with advanced role-play ambitions.
I've joined and have created a lot of stories over the years, adventures that have come from the mysteries of deep space and have met footfalls on the grassy fields of high fantasy. I want to find a group to go on an adventure with, preferably as a part of story rather than the one running it, but I can do both!
If I'm running a story for others, I tend to employ a variety of characters to enhance the story, otherwise I like to play one or up to three characters at the most. I like a good plot to sink my teeth into, and a mystery to follow loose ends and split threads. I think one of my main strengths is stretching myself into different themes and stories that I'm unfamiliar with and I find enjoyment in any sort of story.
Here's what I look for in a story or a fellow role-player:
Fantasy is my main interest. Anything with swords and sorcery is something that catches my attention. It can be a low magic setting where only humans survive or a grand epic of high magic proportions.
I like a good mystery as well. If I'm playing a detective who has to brute force a way into a building to uncover a secret plot, or just john human who got himself mixed up with the wrong group hunting down a secret and elusive cult that's somewhere in the city - then I'm a happy camper.
Although I shouldn't think it the focus, I do like a stretch of combat from time to time. Burying my sword into a goblin's sternum, or having to point my .45 revolver at a shadowy figure while calling up back up, I think, can make for an interesting high stakes tory.
I believe the world is better when there's all sorts of people to inhabit it. As such, I tend to be inclusive towards lgbt+ characters and even have some of my characters represent them. As for adversity in stories, such as prejudice and injustice, I think its a topic that while interesting is better off discussed beforehand.
Otherwise, I'm pretty available to most interests, themes and types of stories. Although I will be the first to admit that when it comes to stories of love or romance, I find that its better to find or work towards character chemistry and discussion first.
Here's some things I don't really want or seek out.
The one theme I don't really click with is stories set in middle school or high school. My life started when I was out of school and building a world of my own around that, so I don't really love the idea of going back a few years and reliving those moments. Otherwise, I don't mind tales that include say, college students.
I don't think AI should be a part of the creative process. There's a world of good artists out there if you're looking for someone or something to represent your character, and AI text tends to be overly wordy and sometimes painful to read when you notice it. I appreciate someone that pulls from their own creative juices, even if they think they're a little amateur. I mean, hey, I suck too. No worries there.
I'm not really looking for torture stories, or emotional anguish. I think it can have its place and even be interesting to follow from time to time, but if I'm reading three paragraphs about how your character is getting all there limbs chopped off, then I'm out.
Thanks for reading through this if you've taken the time, and if you're still interested by the time you get to the end let me know.
