Looks like I forgot to throw up a interest check before throwing up the rp.

CLICK THIS THING

This roleplay was up on the guild before the guild crashed and burned around January under the name "Elegy of Panthers" (doubtful anyone remembers it because I'm pretty sure it was only up for a week before the forum suddenly died). Looking for people to fill up the que. Questions? Answers? The Adventures of Professor Scientist Dashingport and his portly assistant Tubsworth?

Unrelated, but

THIS. THIIIIIIS.

Fallout's probably my favorite general setting with Planescape and Lord of the Rings as a close follow up. Probably something to do with all that Garrys Mod roleplaying I did.

Oh and literally every DLC in New Vegas and Fallout 3 were pretty much excellence incarnate. Think Blood Money made me cry a little.

could our character possibly be newly emerged vault dwellers?

I'd say that would be one way to work it, or a small squad from a vault decides to get out, fighting their way out and discover things aren't all that rosy on the outside.

Oh sure, you can pretty much do whatever you want. Last time I ran this (BEFORE THAT FORUM DIED, THIS RP IS CURSED) one guy was actually roleplaying as the sentient brain of his character, who constantly performed terribly stupid actions (a reference to old world blues). So the brain would basically comment on what the character was doing in a cynical manner. Plus, every group needs a Vault Dweller! Who else is everyone going to make fun of ICly?

I did a Fallout Roleplay with a friend before that forum blew up in a frenzy of douchebag administrations slowly turning it into a "family-friendly" festival. Our freedoms were taken away so we left. Anyways, we did have some developed stories going on with some plans to meet up after character development was done. Anyways, I don't know if they'd fit here or not but he and I would like to continue the story.

My character is an enigmatic disavowed Enclave officer by the name of Fox, since he doesn't use his real name for fear of detection. He was imprisoned by Enclave officers (who had personal grudges against him) during the Battle for the Purifier in DC for trying to tend to a Brotherhood Knight's wounds - he wanted a prisoner alive but he also wanted to do the right thing and love thine enemy. He believed in the American ideals that the Enclave propaganda talked about and realized that the Enclave didn't embody those. He escaped from prison after murdering a guard (his friends were reluctant to help him escape so he did it on his own) and ran off to try and find a place that would truly be America. Along the way, he met a guy named Prizrak and they traveled together for sheer survival even if their ideals differed (particularly on slavery, which Fox despised but his partner viewed as a necessity to earn money.) They traveled for a while before they were separated at Paradise Falls (Fox was banging a stripper at a strip club and a bouncer tried to beat him up so Fox shot him and ran.) As he escaped, he headed through the metro tunnels to find an underground cult worshiping the Second Coming of Jesus (actually the crashing alien spaceship random event from FO3.)

After being promised safe passage out of DC in exchange for performing duties for the cult (they viewed Fox as the outsider warrior from their prophecies who would pave the final stretch of road to their enlightenment - calling Jesus back from Heaven for them to be Raptured), Fox headed back into the city to find and reestablish a communications outpost at a telecom building under siege by Raiders and met a man named Miguel along the way. They fought to the telecom building where Miguel revealed that he was one of the officers responsible for Fox's imprisonment in the Enclave (and was there to take him back to the shattered Enclave), whereupon Fox tore his throat out in a brutal hand-to-hand fight after learning that there would be others after him. During this, he learned about a civil war brewing within Enclave factions over leadership and ideals after their disastrous defeat in DC. After escaping, Fox found himself wandering back to the cult - and this is where his story ended when the forums blew up.

My friendo's gal is a Commonwealth android concubine named Sweet Gin who rolls on adventures in the Northeast heading down to New York after escaping from her abusive owner. I'll let him explain in depth when he gets around to it.

Eventually, the story was going to have us meet in an alien abduction and have us dropped off somewhere to go on adventures together with a doctor and a young girl from New York that Sweet Gin kind of adopts.

Meanwhile, two ancillary characters made mainly to combat a pair of Mary Sues who were annoying the shit out of us were NCR soldiers Rodney Lord (Aaron) and Andranik Kabardian (myself.) This takes place at the same time, after an FNV NCR ending. Lord is a Vertibird pilot in the NCR's Army while Kabardian is a younger tailgunner - they were friendos in the Boneyard while they lived at a Followers camp after Lord was abused by NCR MPs in what might be the most-thinly-veiled reference to Rodney King ever. Their action mainly consisted of hunting down and murdering the entire unrealistically-sized posse led by the Mary Sues (a Raider gang or some shit) who tried to conquer New Vegas with their super-OP powers. A realistic response to a violation of territorial integrity (a takeover of Primm and an instigated riot in Vegas) was a dispatch of airborne infantry to brutally gun down the Raider gang in conjunction with a harsh smackdown in the OOC thread to reduce the Mary Sues down in size so they couldn't have a huge army out of nowhere. I think they ended up being captured or something after aerial photographs started a manhunt, Kabardian came down with a severe case of shellshock during the events (starting in Primm and culminating in Vegas), eventually snapping and gunning down a crowd of rioters in Vegas to the point of melting his weapon and flooding the Strip with tear gas.

Those last two guys don't matter as much, so if there's a different ending or setting for Vegas than an NCR victory ten years after the events of the game (where the NCR is more powerful, explaining the Vertibirds) there could be changes made. On the other hand, Fox and Gin are our main characters but also disconnected. They survived a reboot that took it from the FO3 timeframe to the ten-years-post-Vegas timeframe simply because they were in their own world that wasn't affected by any of the other characters yet. They've survived setting changes before so they can roll with whatever you guys have set up here.

It's set in the far Northeast of Nevada, I should really remake the map BUT it's also located directly next to a NCR and Legion encampment posted near the eastern border, so the conflict is still going on.

In our Lord/Kabardian role, the Legion had collapsed (at least in Vegas) entirely to ragged leftover brigades fleeing back eastward. Not sure we said anything about east Legion.

And, IIRC, the NCR had gone all the way north to Washington and east in some parts (early colonization) to Utah.
