Michael is quite average-looking. He is average-size, being both just a little bit stockier than normal and entirely unremarkable in height. His slightly untameable hair is a nothing-y sort of brown colour, and his watery eyes a bluey grey. He tends to just wear muggle clothes in neutral colours.

Personality: Michael is a bit of a weird one. He is, in many ways, a typical Hufflepuff. He works hard and generally tries to be a decent person. He is gutsy without being aggressive and offers a shoulder to cry on where it is necessary – essentially great support to have on your side. However, he is not the strongest person ever; while he may, if pushed to it, try to challenge somebody's behaviour, he doesn't really have the confidence to force them to do anything, and certainly not the physical or magical ability. He is often a bluffer, and calling him on it will generally expose him as one. As a prefect, he always had a higher authority to go to and isn't used to having to sort out issues by himself.

He is frequently seen to be displaying what appears to be great displays of intelligence, and was frequently asked at school why he had not been sorted to Ravenclaw. The answer is that he is no more intelligent than the standard person and learns at quite a slow rate; however, he puts time and effort into what interests him, and he naturally works incredibly methodically and efficiently, ensuring he always understands the basics, then working through the complexities. Since he generally comes across as a genius, it can sometimes be frustrating to see how tediously and slowly he will pick a subject apart before proceeding.

Essentially, he is a cautious being, and academia is no different; he will not commit to any one school of thinking, and is in fact working on his own personal 'project' as an understanding of magic. This he calls Holistic Magical Theory, and it essentially boils down to the notion that magic is a universal force, and there is no distinct difference between schools of magic, beyond the pigeon-holes by which they have been labelled. Perceiving magic this way, he believes, enables it to be understood at a higher level, and so analysed more effectively. In particular he believes that the theory will enable the reverse-engineering of most spells, and so to find ways of breaking current boundaries of magic (resurrection, undoing the dark arts, conjuring food, etc). This research does require and involve the understanding of the dark arts, which he has been studying secretly since his sixth year.

While he spends most of his time being serious and dedicated to his studies, even outside the classroom and the context of exams, he is ironically quite strict about making sure he has some goalless downtime, which he will intentionally spend smoking like a chimney and doing absolutely nothing else.

History: Michael was born to a muggle-born witch and a muggle father, making him as slimly a half-blood as is possible to be. His mother, however, never passed any OWLs: she had the misfortune of being to sit them during Snape's tenure as Headmaster of Hogwarts. Instead of going into magical hiding, she, quite creatively, had a memory charm used on herself to simply reintegrate into the muggle community as the ultimate deep cover. As a muggle again, she met Samuel Adams, a muggle surgeon, with whom she would later get married and give birth to Michael. The notion that she was herself a witch only came when Michael's Hogwarts letter began to reemerge her deleted memories.
Michael attended Hogwarts and quickly learned about the magical world from his mother (while his father continued hyperventilating) but, of course, the information he received both overwhelmed him, and was several years out-of-date. To all intents and purposes, Michael considers himself basically another muggle-born. While at school, he worked hard as any good Hufflepuff does and got himself reasonably noticed as a all-round decent student among the teachers, and, when he hit the 5th year, he was appointed prefect. Around this time, he became more and more interested in the exact nature of magic and began his personal studies into magic itself. When, following his NEWTs (in Transfiguration, Arithmancy, Charms, Potions and Ancient Runes), he had the opportunity to experience the wide and varied types of magic from all over the world, he leapt at the chance.

Michael's slow precision really comes out in his magic. His wandwork is flawless and almost always achieves the required result. The thing is that he will be tediously slow in order to achieve his high level of precision, and will rarely attempt spells he does not know well in any practical scenario. It's with that in mind that he is excellent at theoretical magic, particularly Transfiguration, Potions and Arithmancy, but, while he is, in theory, a strong duellist, any competent duellist will simply be faster than him. He also has a highly-advanced knowledge of healing, especially for his age, due to some guidance from the resident healer at Hogwarts and lots of self-study. Self-study has also given him the basics of theoretical and practical dark arts, something he doesn't exactly shout about.
He is a very average but competent Chaser, but only really tried out to give the captain more people to choose amongst, never realising he might get chosen. He considers himself the weak link though, and assumes his positive attitude and general supportiveness to be what he really brings to the table.

Johann Wolf

Johann is basically a tank made of flesh. He clocks in at six foot four and sixteen stone, being both taller and bigger than your average man, exacerbated by his perfect posture. His blonde hair is generally left alone, and then shaved when it gets too long; the same too goes for his facial hair. He dresses more like a wizard than many younger people tend to nowadays, rarely seen outside a robe or cape and tending to wear vaguely formal clothes, though he is nowhere near as dressy as wizard attire has a reputation for being.

Personality: if Johann's body is tank-like, his personality is not too far different. He is a forceful young man who operates basically like a bulldozer and it seems almost impossible to tire him; he can and will work without rest until whatever task is completed, and it's almost medically impossible to change his mind once he has decided upon something. While his general brutish demeanour and appearance would suggest an alpha male personality, this is not strictly true; he will happily defer responsibility for the pack to a more suitable candidate for leader and will remain loyal to them for as long as he has faith in them. Respect is very important to Johann. It is hard-won but also hard-lost, and he will fight to defend his reputation and the good reputations of others. However, those unfortunate souls that have not earned his respect should not expect anything more than curt responses and grunts.

He is in many ways the product of his traditionalist pure-blood family, a family for whom convention and conservatism are of the utmost importance. While their take on wizarding culture did not rub off on Johann, he very much shares their political ideology; one that has much in common with the beliefs of the former death eaters. The only difference is perhaps in Johann's absence of actual venom; while he ultimately considers muggles as lesser beings than non-muggles, he does not resent them for it nor feel they should simply be slaughtered. Breeding with them is definitely a no-no, though, and he half-subscribes to the notion that magical blood can be 'diluted' by non-magical blood. Ultimately, it comes down to social order. That said, he is not entirely close-minded. He does not rule out the possibility that a muggle might not be a moron or that a muggle-born might be a competent wizard – he simply assumes that such examples are the exception and not the rule. Wizards and witches, according to Johann, have equal status in the social order, but he generally believes that men are better at 'manlier' arts such as duelling, flying, and the intricate sciences of magic, while women might find themselves more at home with the creative subjects of charms, potions, and those requiring 'alternative' skills such as divination. This makes it very easy for a competent witch to earn Johann's respect, but she should be very well-prepared to be (unwittingly) patronised. Johann, as with his family, generally approved of the Fudge regime and were particularly fond of Thicknesse's government, but they do not even remotely appreciate the hippy happy-clappy nothingy school of thought that seems to have overtaken the UK at the moment.

Johann is the third child (only son) of the Wolf family, a conservative but very well-regarded family from the South-East of Germany, Bavaria, which has been historically (and accurately) associated with Grindelwald's school of thought and with the murder of Ludwig II, though, naturally, the modern Wolfs are keen to disassociate themselves from either of those unfortunate realities. Johann's sisters attended Beauxbatons Academie in France, while he attended the Durmstrang Insitute, since Germany lacked its own (decent) education system. Needless to say, their educations differed, and the Wolf siblings took three divergent paths; the eldest, Gertrud, became a highly-regarded academic Numerologist who stayed on in a teaching capacity following her graduation; the middle-child, Beatrice, rebelled against the conservative family ways and was been all but cast out entirely; Johann, in Durmstrang, became an incredibly practical and powerful young man, with an eye for battle.

Very quickly it became apparent that his interests lay in competition and combat. He excelled in the Dark Arts taught at Durmstrang, but equally in defending himself from them and repairing the damage they could do with healing. In addition, he enjoyed the rearing and taming of magical creatures and plants. Outside the classroom, he also proved himself to be a great flyer, and put his emerging physical force to good use as Durmstrang's best beater of his generation. However, the academic side of things eluded him somewhat. When Transfiguration, Charms and Potions failed to come naturally to him, he didn't stop trying, but undermined his own efforts through a general lack of respect for the disciplines.

Upon graduation, it has been Johann's aim to join the German Ministry of Magic in the International Defence departments, but he has received the advice from the Ministry that he would do well to show 'continued interest and development in those fields in which his academic record was slightly sub-par' and to 'experience the world in a more pro-active environment'. With that in mind, he has been looking for possibilities to travel the world and to meet foreign students. His research made him aware of the group from Hogwarts on their Sabbatical, and he has arranged to join them when they reach the continent.

Appearance and Personality:

• Appearance: Standing at a diminutive four foot eleven, Eoghan has ofttimes been mistaken for a child at first glance due to the oversized clothes and distinct lack of presence, though no one repeats the mistake after seeing his bearded face and rather athletic frame. Truly, Logan's years of Quidditch and Dueling have left him with a sleek physique that often causes second glances from those not aware of his Half-Breed nature. Eoghan's eyes have been remarked as troublesome, the veil of green doesn't laugh when his mouth does, and gives most a distinct feeling he's up to something. Most of Logan's fashion consists of oversized robes and hats. This extends to his "Muggle" Attire where it is more commonplace to wear baggy hoodies and loose fit jeans with extraordinarily plain, hand-made sneakers.


• Personality: Those who've had the pleasure to call Eoghan their classmate or Hufflepuff housemate usually have a lot to say about the Half -Leprechaun, whether it be his apparent ability to shake off any form of insult to the cheeky grin that signals something is amiss. In actuality, Logan is at heart sensitive about his Half-Breed status and parental situation, having deep-seated issues of abandonment. Although he has done a masterful job of masking his emotions behind quick wit and sarcasm. To combat this, Logan has turned his sensitivity into determination, shattering his peers' expectations by becoming Hufflepuff's Starting Seeker in only his third year. Fiercely loyal to those who show him genuine affection and coldly distant to those he feels have insulted him, Logan can be quite the useful little man to have at one's side.

History: Born out of what many would consider rape, Eoghan O'Lynch might never have known of his Leprechaun nature were it not for his Pure-Blooded Grandparents., who scoured the forests of Ireland before locating one Aidan O'Lynch. Eoghan was essentially raised as a Leprechaun would be, learning magics of the forest and how to scam wizards and muggles alike, rarely, if ever, making trips into the more civilized portions of Wizarding Culture. His parents frequently bickered with each other, Aidan wanting to take Eoghan and raise him in the Faerie Kingdom, and his mother demanding he get an education from Hogwarts and become a regular member of society. Eventually, his letter came, and his father subsequently left, feeling his obligation to raise the boy over, though he did give his son a parting gift, a Kneazle Kitten. Upon arrival at the castle, Eoghan, who'd by that time just told others to call him Logan, was a near Hatstall, while the sorting hat had debated with itself between Gryffindor and Slytherin, the Half-Breed child pleaded to be put in Hufflepuff, fearing ostracization if placed in the other two houses. The Hat obliged, and thus began Logan's Hogwarts career.

Logan eventually found a home in the Hufflepuff Basement, and earned quite a few galleons for himself by running scams amongst the student populace, using Taggart as a sort of "lie detector" to validate his schemes to unsuspecting peers. While he was still ridiculed for his Half-breed status by the more venomous of Hogwarts' population, Logan always kept a smile on his face, and, partially as a joke at the time, took up Quidditch in his second year and dueling in his third to break certain stereotypes the more prejudiced of his classmates had set up for him. The boy proved a prodigious Seeker, and eventually joined the Hufflepuff House Team in his Third Year, devoting the majority of his time to the sport after finding a liking to it. His devotion paid off, as he was named Quidditch Captain in only his Fifth Year, leading his house to back-to-back House Cups in his Sixth and Seventh Year, garnering attention from several Irish Professional Quidditch teams in the process. He decided to keep the Golden Snitch from his final match as a personal memento, with permission from the Hogwarts gamekeeper, of course. Though he proved to excel at the more physical of Hogwarts' curriculum (take that, societal expectations!), Logan received only slightly above average grades in the more trivial of classes such as Muggle Studies and Transfiguration. Now facing another separation, this time due to graduation, Logan has informed the teams of his decision to undergo the traditional voyage around the world for one last hurrah with his friends, though admittedly the decision between whether to join the Kenmare Kestrels or Ballycastle Bats will more than likely be on his mind along the way.

• Appearance: Unlike most breeds of Kneazle, who only slightly resemble Lions, Tigers, and the like, Taggart is almost an exact miniature replica of a Snow Leopard. Taggart was named such due to the rather ragged and disheveled tufts of his fur, and peculiar ability to get said fur on almost ever substance with which he comes in contact with, to the dismay of Hufflepuff students everywhere during Logan's time at Hogwarts. The most curious of Taggart's body parts would be his abnormally long whiskers, as long as a person's hand and almost always drooping downward, Logan eventually retrieved one of these whiskers for use in his Wand after the original Phoenix Feather core eviscerated.


• History:
Given to Logan upon his acceptance to Hogwarts, Taggart could be considered the forefront of the nature versus nurture debate. While Kneazles are generally hostile to untrustworthy wizards and witches, Taggart is utterly devoted to his Half-Leprechaun owner, who without a doubt has done some pretty dishonest things during his years at Hogwarts. Taggart almost seems to emulate the emotions of his owner, either hissing and generally being aggressive when Logan is offended, to falling asleep on top of Logan's head when the duo is bored. Taggart grew a reputation of his own on the grounds of Hogwarts for lurking anywhere and everywhere around the Castle during Logan's Quidditch Games or class periods, though with the latter the Kneazle often had to be shooed away from the classroom's door by a passing prefect or professor.

Rather short, and a little on the heavy side (she says she “uses it to hide her muscles”), with dark curly hair and equally dark, expressive eyes. She wears Muggle clothes in the Muggle world and robes among the magical, but doesn’t much care for fashion, as long as she can run around and be mobile and such. No matter what she’s wearing, though, there always seems to be a faint mix of strange smells following her around (not particularly bad smells, just weird incense, herbs, that kind of thing.)

History:
Probably placed in Gryffindor because of her tendency even at eleven to trailblaze her way through life, conventions be damned, Emma Robinson nonetheless had to grow into herself, and is currently very different from the quiet little girl who first stepped into the Great Hall to be sorted. Her parents, both descended from powerful Kenyan wizarding clans (distantly, in her father's case), considered her a prodigy (though they probably thought too much of her natural talent), and taught her as much African and Western magic as she could handle even before her Hogwarts letter arrived, taking her to get her wand at eight, but starting the wandless training even before that. As a result, when the young witch actually went off to “real school” a few years later, she was accustomed to their impromptu lessons and enthusiastic encouragement of individual research and discovery, and found it difficult to fit into the more rigidly structured Hogwarts system. This landed her in detention many many times in her first few years, as she would try to develop her own spells and potions, mostly to disastrous effect, or sneak into the Forbidden Forest in the middle of the night to talk to the centaurs. If it isn’t obvious, this is when her classmates started calling her “Dilemma”, as she always seemed to have detention for something or other. To this day, the name has stuck (mostly because it's fun to say).

Emma took it in stride, laughing at her mistakes and failed experiments with everyone else, and truly came into her own in her third year, when she discovered the Dueling Club. From that point on, she focused a majority of her excess energy and passion into dueling, having never done something quite so fun, and trained as much as she could for her matches, thus cutting down on the experiments and detentions. It took her longer than she would have liked, but two years later she had become the dueling queen of Hogwarts, captain of the club and feared by every member for her inventive jinxing and powerful curses. On the academic side, however, Emma’s scores seemed quite weak. She barely got through classes like Astronomy, Divination and History, where she couldn’t use much or any “practical” magic, but on the other hand, those classes that DID focus on magic (Charms, Transfiguration and DADA) she excelled in, up to and through the N.E.W.T. level. The only non-practical studies she ever did well with were Alchemy, due to its usefulness in “Hedge” magic, and Artification, because of the same. Her non-traditional studies got her interested, and once she was hooked, as usual, there was no way she couldn’t learn everything possible.

Near the end of her seventh year, she got together with a few of her friends and helped to put together a grand adventure, a Pilgrimage around the world just like the famous old wizards and witches of the past. There was no doubt, it was a perfect opportunity to learn about the Muggle world, to learn magic she had never even dreamed of… and to find herself some treasure!

Small Expansion

Strengths:
Dueling, and practical magic in general, be it enchanting an object, performing a ritual or just casting spells with her wand. She is quite a contender, with a knowledge of offensive and defensive spells almost unmatched by her schoolmates, and has been the Captain of the Dueling Club since her fifth year. The emotions she feels as she duels, especially when overcoming a difficult opponent, can only be described as “unbridled joy”, and accordingly it’s one of her favorite pastimes. Somewhat following as a result of the above, Emma is in good physical shape, tempered by continuous dodging, side-stepping, running, and tumbling during her duels, and the general fitness training that she does. For fun, she has even learned some Muggle martial-arts, something that often surprises people when she tells them, and especially surprises people she duels against, as she sometimes applies their techniques.

While working with the more academic side of magic, she resonates well with her wand, giving her an edge in Transfiguration, and she does well in both DADA and Charms. Finally, because of (among other things) her family heritage and a natural love of adventure, Emma has developed a powerful interest in non-traditional, non-Western and even non-human magic, studying that of the Caribbean islands, her ancestor’s homelands in East Africa, centaurs, elves and goblins. This more ritualistic, often wandless magic is usually frowned upon (and never taught) at Hogwarts, and magical Britain in general, as they much prefer the precision of wands and spells, but obviously she doesn’t share the same prejudice.

Weaknesses:
All of the less-practical classes were very difficult for Emma to stay interested in, if just for the fact that she loves using magic, and in these classes, magic is supplementary instead of being the main focus (Astronomy, Divination, History of Magic, Ancient Runes, Arithmancy and the like). Also, though good at dueling, the other main British wizarding sport, Quidditch, is a big step in the opposite direction. When pushed, she can use a broom in some capacity, but because she gets vertigo very easily while suspended in the air like that, she tries to avoid them as best she can, preferring to keep her feet securely on the ground and Apparate to travel quickly. Finally, some people that she has attempted to befriend have been put off by the rumors that used to travel around the school that she’s a Dark Voodoo witch, not to mention her often troublesome nature (hence the nickname).

Because of excellent balancing, it is light and mobile in the hand. Described by Ollivander as “very good for transfiguration, and, in the wrong hands, dangerous,” due to the relatively chaotic Paduak wood (the wood's natural connection to entropy facilitates the shifting and destruction of forms). Since then, with Emma, the Padauk wand has absorbed her intense passions, even further enhancing its combative tendencies.

-Quite intelligent and social, but with obvious power (physical in the animal's case, magical in the girl's). Neither Emma nor an elephant will take your shit for very long, and if they get mad, you better believe someone or something is going to end up crushed. Furthermore, if someone they love is threatened, the only thing to do is run, because you do not want to get in their way. Brushes, clothes, perfume, and passion. Amelia Capello certainly takes her appearance seriously. Her fashion includes influences from famous muggle designers and magazines. Petite and small, she certainly doesn't appear threatening. Her hair is always neatly organized in various buns and a light bit of make-up adorns her face. Sweet (or harsh depending on who it is) smells lightly emit from her, mainly due to any number of perfumes she likes to use. With all the care she gives to her appearance, she certainly does not overdo it and instead has adopted a certain muggle sophistication seen in richer folk.

Personality: Amelia has the base attributes of being lax, outgoing, and friendly. She normally doesn't shy away from a conversation or meeting someone, unless she is rather preoccupied, externally or internally. She'll try her best to satisfy others as long as it doesn't conflict with her own interests and if it does, she'll tell you politely. Persist or threaten her? She'll stand up for herself and fight if it ever came to it. Naturally excited and optimistic, she'll provide warmer feelings in the darkest of moments. Meanwhile some quirks about her personality are minor things but mainly deal with her privileged background. She is a little more emotional on a regular basis, but with a little reassurance, she can keep a lid on it. She also has a taste for finer things and is a bit stuck up in minor ways.

Prior History: The eldest daughter of four, Amelia is shining role model for her brothers and sisters. At home, Amelia grew up with a wealthy muggleborn father, but a mother who was a full-blooded witch. Things tended to be more elegant and expensive but Amelia did her best not to brag about it. At school, she was an excellent student, albeit a bit of a smart arse on occasion. She exceeded in all of her classes and was a very popular person at Hogwarts. Her success in school got her promoted to a Prefect during her fifth year and for her seventh, she was recognized as the Head Girl. Due to success in school and her admiration for those students in the Order of the Phoenix, Amelia had always set her out on becoming an Auror but her parents must have been even wanting it more than she ever did. When her final year rolled around, Amelia hesitated as talk of a Wizard's Pilgrimage started circling around her class. A chance to see the world freely was a thrilling prospect that not even an Auror could boast of. Pan is a female house elf in servitude to the Capello family for about fifteen years now. She is not mistreated or abused, but that is about as far as courtesies go for Pan. She is surprisingly tough for a house elf so she doesn't let it get to her. She just appreciates the quality food and sleeping quarters under the stairs. By far the worst the worst Capello is Amelia's brother, William, who is just a few years behind Amelia in age. Second worst is Amelia's father. Pan receives good treatment from Amelia's mother, though.

Alexandra is something of a tomboy. Despite the rather curvy curves nature gave her, nurture has not given her any inclinations to be particularly feminine. She wears little to no makeup (and certainly will not be wearing any on the pilgrimage) and does not try to top up her unimpressive five feet of height with heels. What she does believe in, to some degree, is being presentable, and so she will make sure she is clean and nicely turned-out even if not overtly feminine.

Personality: Leck goes almost out of her way to not be what her parents want her to be. The product of an old Slytherin family she rails violently against their interest in academia, wealth, status and, yes, blood-purity, she can't think of anything worse than being somebody's wife and baby-maker in a nice, neat little mansion somewhere. She is relaxed, chilled-out, and truthful, even when the truth hurts. Nothing sounds better to her than to be around a few friends and having a bit of a drink. She's inherently a little bit masculine, and often doesn't have time for what she considers to be female duplicity or superficiality, though woe betide any man that should bemoan the same traits. Leck carries a bit of a temper around with her, and her outbursts, though few and far between, have been absolutely legendary. As a result, her compassionate nature and general laid-back attitude tend to take people by surprise.

She does take a little getting used to, and can be quite intense. Her unflinching, slightly brazen exterior is mostly for show, as a means of off-setting her family background and the general societal expectations of purebloods, the wealthy, and women. It's not unheard of for her to make inappropriate jokes with people she doesn't know, or generally been a little overbearing. The fact that she is a firm believer in cutting the crap can also make uninformed small-talk almost entirely impossible. Though she dropped most practical (and dangerously so) subjects as soon as she could, her bravado would occasionally have her throw herself into situations to show her carefree nature, only to find herself ill-equipped to deal with them, and need, to her supreme annoyance, to be helped.

The Bellowes are a new wizarding family, whose name was changed about a decade and half ago for reasons they say they don't remember. They were previously well-respected in the wizarding community, but were perhaps too sympathetic to the wrong circles at the wrong time, and now, even if their wealth is intact, they have cut themselves off from those less savoury faces on their family tree and decided to start afresh. It's the one thing Leck isn't honest about and she has intentionally not pried into the Bellowes' history too much. She has suspicions that the men in the family, including her father, have done things she would not be able to forgive them for, and she puts in a lot of effort to suspend her disbelief; she isn't sure that the imperius curse her father was found at his trial to have been under was real. Counter-intuitively, she does enjoy her family's company, even if they are politically poles-apart, and so they have a don't-ask-don't-tell policy that goes both ways; she leaves their family history alone; and they, in turn, give her space to be a bloodtraiter rebellious teen. With that in mind, she goes out of her way to do bloodtraitery things, avoiding academic excellence and wizarding conventions at all costs.

History

Born to Pure-Blood Nora Byrd and Muggle Jonathan Primrose, Janine was their second child. Their first son, Jonathan Jr, was unfortunately stillborn and when her parents had found that they were pregnant once more, were very hesitant to get their hopes up. Time passed and worry melted away as their little girl began to grow and wander the world around her. Janine led a simple life in Salem, Massachusetts for the entirety of her childhood, indulging in farm life in the great outdoors. She remembers spending most of her free time coming home from the first years of her education, running into her mothers arm and sneaking into the shed out back to help care to her numerous Kneazles. Nora taught her only child how to properly care for the creatures, telling her "Every person, creature and being should be treated with care. This is how the world needs to work for you to enjoy life." And Janine clung to the words, hearing them nearly everyday, like some sort of mantra.

As she spent more time with the magical 'cats', Janine would end up with numerous scratches on her arms. Nora would hum to her while running the tip of her wand along the scratches. Janines jaw never failed to fall open as she watched her skin heal. Days and weeks passed and Janine would stumble behind her mother, chasing the cats on several occasions. It was always of 'utmost' importance to keep the existence of the cats a secret. This confused Janine until she grew older and begun to show an affinity for magic, humming to herself between sobs over a scraped knee. Jonathan had been home and seen it himself, running to call Nora immediately.

The next few days were a blur as school was looming over her head, talk of the Salem Witch Institute looming above her. Nora gave her Sadie to accompany her, being that she wouldn't be far from home and, therefore, did not require the traditional owl for relay in communication. A week later, she stood dressed in her new uniform, complete with the optional blazer as her mother and father put her on a normal style bus, white in color instead of the traditional yellow. It bumped down the street to an overgrown forest off of the main road. Janine sat forward and watched as an overweight man in a pair of overalls and nothing else walked over to the bus doors and spoke to the driver. "The trials have begun" he spoke in such a low tone, she was sure only she had heard it. "The trials are over and in our favor." the scrawny bus driver responded. With a small smirk that Janine swore she had to have imagined, the image of the forest melted away, revealing a stone road leading up to the massive building that was her new school.

It was exactly as her mother had told her, pouring the information into her since she'd shown her magical ability shortly before the school year began. "The Salem Witches’ Institute was founded in 1700, the direct result of the Salem Witch Trials." she could hear her mothers voice in her head as she watched the magical foliage peel away as the ventured further down the stone path. "The witches and wizards of the time needed a safe place for their children to teach them all they needed to know to survive and thrive. Though, it is considerably younger than any other magical institute, it is no less prestigious, having produced some of the greatest witches and wizards of our time."

"The campus is several thousand acres just on the outskirts of town. Hidden in plain sight, a disillusionment charm has been placed on the grounds to conceal it from Muggles and enemies of the school, appearing simply as an overgrown forest. The school itself consists of several buildings surrounding a large courtyard. Rather than houses, as at Hogwarts, students are separated by year. Each dormitory pod is completed with a common room. "

"While SWI is committed to upholding the traditions of the Wizarding world, they have been known to be more progressive than the other magical institutes. Their uniforms are simple and similar to Hogwarts. Consisting of black, white, and navy to represent the school’s chosen colors. The curriculum is much the same as the other schools in an effort to insure that all witches and wizards are held to the same educational standards."

And as her mothers voice spoke the words in her memory, it was as if the school itself unfolded in time with the words, having been ushered into the main hall and into the front center with the other first years. While, the room was filled with 98% females, it was told to her by the Head Mistress Savanah Drittle that while the school was named for Witches, that it was open to boys as well. There just happened to be a shortage of them in Salem and those that had graduated from SWI, had originally been transfers.

And so, Janine spent the first five years of her education in her hometown, immersing herself in her school work in her third, fourth and fifth year as her father grew progressively ill. He passed at the end of her fifth year and her mother, Nora, withdrew her from the school to transfer her to Hogwarts, where they could be closer to her wizard family. She had adjusted well, studying intensely in potions (specifically of the healing sort) and always spending her free time with any animal the school would allow her to volunteer with. Janine performed well in her exams and graduated shortly after with the proud colors of Ravenclaw.
