Name:
She goes by Raven.

Age:

Avien Years - 20
Human Years - 40

Gender:
Female

Race:
Avien
The Avien are a race of bird-people who come in many, many different sizes, shapes, colors, and breeds. Though each greatly differ from one another, they all have generally the same form - a body covered in either feathers or oddly shaded skin, digitigrade legs, claws and fangs, tails of some shape or form, triangular ears in different sizes, and normal-looking heads, hair, and faces {for the most part}. Their appearances differ as you go from each creatures' breed of bird. They are generally a neutral race towards any others, only retorting when provoked, and variate depending on their bird breed - some can be very cowardly and fly off at the first sign of danger, while others are aggressive and prefer battling it out with more courage. It's like comparing a harpy eagle to a pigeon. This also gives them some personality traits gained through blood. Their native tongue is of a language too complicated to be replicated or even translated by humankind correctly. Although, they are very fast to learn, and can quickly become fluent in a different language if necessary. They age differently than humans; it takes two human years for a year in Avien age to pass, and therefore makes Raven still as young as a twenty year old would look, despite the fact that she's forty in human years.

Appearance:

Raven was born as what her name represents - a raven. Or, at least, that is her second breed besides her humanoid genes. Her skin is a midnight black color, and her digitigrade legs are rather thin with slender, four-toed feet, each with sharp claws. The backsides of her calves are fringed with black feathers. Her deft-fingered hands each hold their own long claws on them. She holds long, black-feathered wings on her back. Her neck attains the color of the rest of her skin, up until you reach her chin, which shifts into a very pale, white-ish gray. Her irises are maroon-colored, and are surrounded in a natural shade of pitch black in the hollows of her eye sockets. Her hair is messy and thick, going to her shoulder blades and colored a black similar to her skin color. Her ears are long, narrow, and triangular, usually drooped down, covered in small black feathers and normally hidden underneath her hair. She has a rather long tail with a tuft of soft black hair on the end at her tailbone.

Years aboard Precipice:
Born on the Precipice, but did not originate directly from the Precipice.

Apocalyptic Scenario:
Raven's story is a very unique one that took an immense amount of luck to ever really come to be. She was being carried in an egg by her Avien mother, who was infected by a virus that was turning the population into 'zombies' of sorts - death would come, the virus would reanimate the body, and they'd become mindless killers within hours or even minutes. The mother flew to the highest point she could, and called up to the skies in desperation, pleading for something to save her baby, if not her. Luckily, Precipice heard her pleads, and carried both the mother and the egg that Raven was still inside into the ship. The crew had to restrain her mother and immediately get her into a contained area, where unfortunately, the mother was left to die. Though she went in peace knowing her child was safe. They had to release the body from the ship to eliminate the risk of infection of the strange virus.
Raven was raised on the ship, and eventually hatched, turning out to have none of the symptoms of the virus that took her home planet. She was raised and taught English, raised with technology, and is therefore very familiar with Precipice himself, the crew, and the main commander. She was given a special area where she could fly about and perch on not-completely-natural trees, but she doesn't mind if they aren't natural. They're something.

Abilities:
She has no supernatural abilities, except for one that seems more naturally attained than anything - infection immunity. She seems to be completely immune to any sort of sickness that would normally befall other species easily.

Skills:
She can, of course, fly with the wings on her back. She's a fantastic climber, has great balance, and although she isn't the strongest at all, she's probably the swiftest creature you'll ever come to meet. She's also pretty good at singing and is a great liar.

Short Bio:
She didn't have much of a life on her home planet - she was born and nurtured there for only a few months before the infection broke out. After she was saved by Precipice and born on the ship, she was actually taken in very fondly, and managed to be one of the few who grew a rather friendly relationship with the ship itself, with Precipice. She tries to push aside her bashfulness in front of strangers to welcome them, but usually just lets them approach her if they have a question or something rather than approaching them first-hand.

Personality:
She's generally a curious creature who has a love for learning. She becomes very friendly in a savvy way to those who develop a close relationship with her, and has a se3nse of enjoyment in delving deep into a person's life and just a person's personage in general. She can be rather sly when she needs to be, collecting information while seeming completely innocent in the process, but she rarely, if not ever brings that talent out to use. She's rather quiet in front of strangers, since they've always had a tendency to intimidate her, and isn't courageous in any aspect, flying off whenever she detects the tiniest hint of danger.

Few questions and comments.

1. The Precipice Medical Bay is not just state of the art, it's probably supernatural in some way. No disease can't be cured. Unless it's already killed the patient. I'm guessing that to facilitate that, Raven's mother was probably almost a zombie when she was brought on board. The crew is heavily trained in dealing against zombies (they encounter a zombie world every now and then), so they would deal with the zombie with complete efficiency.
2. What's Raven's role on the ship? Is she going to be part of the crew? (She can probably be one of the Chiefs if given the right expertises. Or a Senior 'insert department here' Officer.
3. Oh come on, Precipice has friends! Quite a few!
4. Other than that, it should be okay.

I'll add a description of life aboard the Precipice sometime soon. And some important dimensions / planets.

Name: Kelly James Blanton

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Where have they come from?: An area embroiled in constant war, where peace was impossible. In this universe, each planet of the solar system contained it's own advanced civilization. Each planet's civilization went to war, seeking resources, and this lead to horrifying devastation. Most worlds were devastated by nuclear weapons, and all inhabitants of these worlds fight every day to save their own lives, while the privileged few living on the only intact world, Eden, lived in paradise. The new conditions spawned a unique evolution of humans, who were immensely low in number compared to the "originals" but whose strength, speed, stamina, and creativity were higher than an average human, and fighting seemed to come naturally to them. However, they also had an almost un-controllable urge to fight whenever one of them met another. These individuals were known as the Marked because of their trademark violet eyes, and were heavily discriminated against, leading to many being killed.
Years aboard Precipice: 2

Apocalyptic Scenario: His, already thoroughly nuked out planet, was again condemned to Nuclear Fire.
Abilities: Stronger, faster, and more agile than an average human.
Skills: Very Talented with his pistols and his rifle.
Sexuality: Straight

Height: 5'11

Hair Colour: Brown

Eye Colour: Violet

General Appearance:

Tall and Athletic, with hair going down to the middle of his eyes and past his ears, he doesn't keep a well-groomed appearence. He doesn't have a beard or moustache, as they'd be too attention grabbing. Kelly's skin is tanned from long exposure to the wasteland sun. His body has a myriad assortment of scars, from bullet wounds to knife wounds, and is rather heavily damaged for such a young man.

Personality: Due to the heavy discrimination he faced, his trust is awarded only after very extenuating circumstances ex. Saving his life. He is generally willing to sacrifice anything, including his safety and that of others, for those who do earn his trust. When he is not actively fighting for his life, he is actually very lethargic. Wearing comfortable clothing, he lounges and recovers.
Abilities: Kelly is stronger, faster, and more agile than any human. He is also capable of learning much quicker than the average person.

Skills: Kelly is very talented with pistols, particularly with the high-caliber pistols that he’s used for all his life. He is also talented with his rifle to a lesser extent. He is slightly
acrobatic, however not to the point that he actively employs things like backflips in combat, he’s just very flexible.

History: Born in a small town on the shattered world of Tyranis VI, it was immediately noted that the baby was one of the Marked. He was immediately cast out, but a nearby caravan of 15 people picked him up. He was raised by this caravan, as they were one of few groups of people who didn't discriminate against the Marked. He was brought up by this caravan, and was taught many different fighting styles by the 5 guards of this caravan. However, by the time he was 14 he had surpassed them all in sheer fighting ability.

Fighting with a pair of high-calibre pistols and a rifle, Kelly defended this caravan with his life on multiple occasions. Kelly's combat abilities advanced, however his people skills did not. Many times, he completely destroyed rival groups simply because they made a threat in a negotiation. For this reason, Kelly was eventually cast out at the age of 17.
Kelly drifted around for the following year, doing mercenary work to survive. However, one day he encountered the Caravan that had thrown him out. Ultimately, his former family were no match for the fighter. After killing them all, down to the last man, Kelly returned to a nearby city. However, when he arrived, he found that the governments of Eden had again condemned the planet to nuclear fire. Standing at the top of a tall building, with both pistols on hand, he’d waited for the end that never came.

Other: Carries a deep fondness for pistols due to his upbringing.

Took an old bio and revised it slightly, is it all good?

Okay, here's one of my OC species. It's about as nonhuman as you can get, so I stuck it inside a human because I heard you like humans.

Name: Aryan / Flora

Age: Aryan is 10 / Flora are ageless

Gender: Aryan is male / Flora are genderless

Race: Aryan was human / Flora are Flora
Flora info: Flora are a hive mind species, man-made by an incredibly advanced species that was driven to extinction by their own technology. One such technology was the Flora. The flora are individual nano-machines, each the same size and having the same general structure as an organic cell. Each Flora cell absorbs heat and organic matter to power themselves and multiply. The default shape of a Flora colony is many, long, nearly-invisible, string-like tendrils extending out from a host.

Appearance: Aryan is a small child, with clouded, pale gray eyes and wispy gray hair. His skin is cold and gray as well. Coupled with the fact that he rarely wears anything, Aryan's physical appearance is frighteningly similar to that of a dead child, which isn't completely wrong. The Flora can make him appear as almost anything however, of any size or shape. The Flora are able to change color in an individual cell basis, so they can literally appear as anything.

Years aboard Precipice: Newcomer

Apocalyptic Scenario: The Flora reached critical mass in the planet's biosphere, completely overwhelming the human race that had previously had a population of over thirteen billion individuals, and moved onto the next phase in their migration cycle: the planet's core. The Flora rip the planet apart, consuming the magma core as fuel for their long hibernation until they reach the next doomed planet. Aryan was one of the human hosts that the Flora had initially used to multiply inside of when they had just arrived on the planet. Later on, once the Flora made themselves known, they simply killed all the other humans. Though Aryan had long since been dead on his own, the Flora inside his body kept him alive until the very end.

Abilities: Aryan is a normal human, albeit with an incredibly high pain tolerance. The Flora are able to shape themselves into anything they (or Aryan should he be in control) desire. They are also able to heal any and all injury, cure any disease, and destroy any virus in their host. Heat, even that of the hottest sun, is absorbed by the Flora with a 100% efficiency rate. Should they have enough matter stored or readily available, heat will fuel rapid multiplication of the Flora.

Skills: Aryan was good at checkers. So long as Aryan remains dominant, he can command the Flora to take any shape he desires.

Short Bio: Aryan wasn't his original name. It was Christopher, Christopher Maltese. He was ten years old, with light blonde hair and shining blue eyes. The media named him Aryan when he started showing up in cities right before they were completely consumed by the Flora. Aryan had lived in a large research facility where his father had worked. His dad had been investigating a strange type of cell found in an ice core. The singular cell seemed to have both organic and inorganic qualities. Unfortunately, no one could have predicted that simple heat would have reactivated the cell, and it had access to plenty of matter just using what was floating in the filtered air of the containment chamber. For a containment chamber, it did very little containing. Christopher's father was the first casualty of the Flora outbreak, and Christopher himself was the first vehicle for their rapid spread.

Personality: None, considering the Flora are generally puppeting Aryan's dead body. Aryan used to be loud and happy, like any other kid his age. Now though, he's a lot more reserved and somber but still attempts to act reasonably upbeat for the benefit of those around him. Seeing everyone he knew and loved die, killing those people with his own two hands, all while being dead himself, well, it changed him. Underneath Aryan's good-natured facade, he just wants to break down and cry out at the unfairness of it all.

Role: Anything. That could be fighting or defending others, or healing the wounded. Since Aryan requires no oxygen and doesn't feel heat, he could be used to scout stars, exploding planets, or simply work outside the ship. He'd be total overkill for security, but that's never a bad thing. The Flora would fit any situation equally well, since they were created to be the perfect biotechnological weapon of mass destruction, and Aryan would simply want to serve a purpose. The only role I don't think he would be able to do would be research.

Other: So as not to have a self-replicating mechanized monster of death aboard the ship, how about the initial abduction/healing process makes Aryan's the dominant mind? It would be a simple matter for the Precicpice to recode the Flora to recognize Aryan's will as the overriding command.

Looking at the other CSs, I seem to have misinterpreted what OP meant in context of any-race-imaginable. *shrugs* No regrets!

Edit:
A How-To Guide to Dealing With Those Pesky Flora:
The Flora start to shut down and go into a dormant state to conserve energy when kept in temperatures below freezing for too long. An EMP would stop them for a few seconds before they absorb more heat and reactivate themselves. Individual cells can be destroyed by just about anything, but the heat most forms of destruction release is usually enough to fuel the creation of new cells. Extreme cold and black holes are really the only way to be sure. Containment would be the more realistic option, and that could be followed up with extreme cold.

@MasterJay That's interesting, though not something I haven't seen before. Well, not really. I mean.... uh... nihil sub sole novum.

It is possible that the Precipice and the medical staff aboard the Precipice could reprogram the Flora / Human hybrid to make Aryan the dominant mind, and make the Flora unable to cause a mass outbreak aboard the ship. The medical tech onboard here cannot revive the living or cure the symptoms and end results of old age. That's the only limit I put here.

Other than that, nice stuff. No real weaknesses, though. I don't want to imagine what happens if everyone gets into a character power arms race. The Flora should have a weakness, I think. Something that's real and dangerous, but unable to be utilised by the poor people who died to it quickly enough.

(Hell, I even considered allowing individuals that caught the zombie plague and turned to regain their sentience if they were brought on board, but it seems like it would be illogical with Crank's CS. Since Raven's mother was left to die.)

EDIT: Forgot something. Added it in.

I solemnly swear that the Flora will not seed their cells into other organisms.

I'm not that surprised that there's similar stuff out there. Nothing is completely unique anymore.

So, basically, you wish that whatever medical procedures the Precipice performs will not be able to make the Flora non-infectious, but you won't do anything drastic with it.

Well, that's okay with me, personally. But it'd probably result in quite a few stringent procedures In-character wise.

EDIT: Do make the edits in your CS to include the weaknesses you mentioned. You're considered accepted.

Oh, it doesn't really matter if they are made sterile or not. If they're not actually made non-infectious by the Precipice then I'll write the reasoning behind why they aren't spreading and Aryan would do everything to ensure compliance. If they are changed so as not to automatically attempt to wipe out any and all life aboard the ship, then that's fine too but not sure how that would work out logistically.
