He moved among the shadows of the the night as if he were one of them. His steps were quiet as he went through the alleys. So quiet that he might have been a ghost. As he walked his mind mulled over the recent pattern of events and their mysterious lack of explaination.

And then the scent of blood grew thick on the air. And as he looked he saw her body with it's flesh ripped off, he figured that the scent of rot would soon follow.

"Wolves, no doubt..." he whispered absently. He inspected the body out of a sort of morbid curiosity, and found her still alive. He furrowed a brow in reaction. Strange. She seemed entirely mortal. After a moment of consideration, he lifted her body and retreated into the shadows.

Once within his appartment he took her into the bedroom and laid her on the bed. He placed his hands over the wounded part of her body and spoke with a strange voice in a language that could scarcely be described. After that he dashed into the kitchen and began rummaging around.

He set a huge pot of water to boil on the stove and threw in several large chunks of raw meat from the freezer. He began to incant similarly over the pot as he had just done over the woman's body. With any luck she wouldn't die while he was in here doing this.

Ever so slowly the darkness edged away - leaving her with a feeling that she didn't experience too often. She could feel her body reconstruct itself, patching her back together. Adrenaline ran through her veins keeping the pain at bay for at least short while. Kristina blinked once and then again as the world came back into view. However, it was not a scene she would have expected.

She glanced around at the bedroom in which she resided. A hospital room she could expect, perhaps even the lab table at the morgue, and if she had been lucky she would have woken up on the streets where her heart had been stopped. The details of the attack were vague to her - and she had no desire to retrieve them in more detail. If shock or trauma would keep them at bay... well maybe she wouldn't have to recall the pain.

Still that didn't explain where she was. Sitting up, she ran her hand through her hair as she glanced at her blood that stained the cloth beneath her. Quietly she sat, feeling a bit better each second that ticked by. Swinging her feet off the bed, she moved to stand. However her legs weren't ready to support her weigh. In panic she reached for something and only managed to drag a lamp down with her. Kris swore as the noise echoed around her. So much for attempting to quietly leave.

The sound jarred him from the trance he was in and he flew back into the bedroom.  Seeing her on the floor, he went over to lift her back up, But then he saw the healing that had taken place. Seeing this, he looked at her. He looked into her spirit but was amazed to find that she was no supernatural creature. This was a mystery in and of itself. But he had no time to dwell on it. He helped the girl back up to the bed and sat there beside her.

He payed no attention to the downed lamp at the moment. That was far away from his present thoughts and concerns.

"You're healing." He observed flatly. His voice was deep and it seemed to bare a slight hint of an accent, but not enough to figure out where it was from. His confusion ov her body's natural restoration was further made clear when he added "On your own."

He was staring into her eyes now. Trying to read within them what her secret might be. But her eyes were giving up no secrets as he sat on the bed next to her, looking into them. Finally he added a question to his observations to be a clear as he could. "Why?"

There was nothing much she could do besides return to the bed. Her eyes darted to the doorway for a second, before settling back to the man who had come to aid her. Deciding to turn her attention to the wall before her, she tried her best to try and formulate an idea. How had he found her? From the looks of the blood, she hadn’t been in the best of condition. Finding herself turning back to face him, she found it difficult to look away.

Kris nervously ran her fingers through her hair as she tried to come up with an explanation that may be suitable. But his single word question haunted her. She glanced down at her arm, noticing that scars from the wounds were ever slowly seeming to vanish. Her shoulders lifted as she shrugged, “It looked worse than it was.”

Lifting her eyes, she realized that her explanation was not going to cut it. She was still healing on her own and much quicker than expected. It wasn’t normal. “In all honesty, I don’t know why. It’s just a fact of life…” her voice trailed off before she tried to divert the conversation. “Where am I?”

The long haired man just looked at her for a moment. He was gauging her honesty. It was incredibly hard to believe that she didn't have any more of any explaination than that. Still, if she was mortal, it was entirely plausible that she had no idea why she could heal this. And that did appear to be the case.

"You're in my bedroom. On the twentieth floor of an apartment building. Downtown." He replied simply, before standing and walking over the bedroom window. He looked out at the street. "And you're safe, as long as you stay here."

It was strange. She might well be the clue he'd been looking for. But he couldn't be sure. Sighing from the frustration that comes when you keep getting glimpses but fail to see the whole of an image, he turned back to her. "Do you recall what attacked you?"

She debated how much she was going to trust him. For whatever, he had brought her to the safety of his apartment rather than a hospital. She was unsure whether or not to be thankful for that. There was also the debate that he was now well aware of her secret - or at least had an idea of what it was. The fact that she was unable to give more details of her ability seemed to stump him for a moment.

At first she ignored his question, deciding to avoid his gaze as she glanced down at her hands. But the memories slowly seemed to draw themselves to the surface - leaving hr with a feeling that the world she knew was going to crumble underneath her. "Why do you ask?" she wondered as she lifted her gaze to him. She was unsure what a normal person would have thought. Would they try to dismiss her wounds as being attacked by a gang, or would they say it was some wild stray dog? Either case, his question of what exactly was the cause seemed abnormal.

"It... they weren't human, that's for sure," Kris answered after some thought. "There were two of them - demons or I even want to claim they were werewolves. But perhaps that's just the shock of the experience."

There could be no doubting it then. Two werewolves. And it seemed rather easy for her to grasp that concept, even if she were struggling to deny it.

But what were they doing within the city? Normally they kept to the woods and state parks. Perhaps they were having another war with the undead. Azazel might be making a mistake attempting to explain these things to her. But the girl seemed to have some experience with spiritual phenomenae.

Besides, what harm could it do that would be worse than the transgression for which he had become bound to the earth?

So, he looked the girl in the eyes. Dead serious as his own eyes seemed to conceal a celestial fire behind them. And then the fire flared and burst forth. And for the briefest instant, his eyes became starlight. After that display, he smirked and offered a simpler explaination. "Or perhaps they were werewolves."

He was, indeed, abnormal.

What she had seen was indescribable. If it wasn't for the he smiled she may have thought she had been hallucinating. But that was not the case. Werewolves. Was it possible they were real. Yes. She had already come to this conclusion. She just hadn't expected to find someone for believe. Not only believe her but he seemed to know without a fact that that is what happened to him.

"Who are you?"

The man before her was in no way normal. And all she could conclude was that he wasn't human. A chill ran down her spin.

"What are you?"
