He shook his head as he didn't want Amy to worry about the fact he didn't have a birthday. He then thought of a way to change the subject before Amy got sad.
"So what place do you want to go to on your birthday? I can set up the music, or we can just have a nice quite dinner with everyone... Wait their them... It's not gonna be quite," Matt said laughing a little bit at the end as he rubbed the back of his head.

Amy nodded. "I think a quiet dinner with our friends will be good for me. I don't need anything special." She said. She had been saying that since Alleshia died because she didn't want to have anything extravagant without the person who raised her being there to enjoy it with her.

Lexie nodded at the direction Wes was pointing, noting that it led towards the middle of the 8th District. Despite her Meister's luck in these matters, she trusted his judgement was correct, at least in some way. She was certain he'd found an abnormal soul, just it might not be the one they were looking for. She had to follow orders though, because what kind of weapon would she be if she couldn't even trust him?

Curious about exactly what Wes had gone searching for, she asked as she walked, "Did you look for a group of Kishin eggs without a body, or just the one we're looking for?"

Nightwalker was all ready there at the top of the school waiting for me with a job with 16 souls and a possibly of a witch's soul on top of the 16 souls.

He thought a few before saying "actually I guess we can go over there and scout, I mean it's better than school." He slides Rhiannon into a sheath to have his hands free while carrying here to the location.

They arrived at the edge of death city, in the slums, about 3:00 o'clock. The sun was still pretty high in the sky and they can easy see all the run down houses. The only reason there still called slums is because a few people live there but most of them were able to afford new houses. Most of the houses were made of rotting oak, some house caved in some were knocked down, some of them were burned to the ground. Every so often you see a person or a small family in one that was in surprisingly good shape considering what all the other houses looked like. There was a eerie silence there even for a place most abandoned, as was scouted the place for good spots to hide it got darker and mist started to appear.

Actually, I just followed the shadiest looking one," Wes confessed, sheepishly rubbing the back of his head, "Just look for the greediest, most cowardly soul, and then I guess you got your destination right?" Wes shrugged casually. "Besides, I can just recalculate if I get it wrong, but I don't think I am."

"Sorry I brought up my birthday by the way." Amy said glancing at Matt her blue eyes filled with a bit of guilt. She didn't know when his birthday was and she always wanted celebrate it with him but she never knew what day it was on. "We don't have to celebrate my birthday anyways." She said looking ahead of her. It wasn't until almost five years ago that she was given her birthday. She wished she could remember when her real birthday was or who her parents were.

"it's fine Amy! I love celebrating your birthday. It makes me feel happy to see someone like me actually have a birthday," Matt said smiling.
She then pet Amy's head softly as he stood up.
"How about we go to our favorite Chinese restaurant. I've been pulling extra shifts at the shop so I have plenty of cash to get your favorites, and also maybe an order of that duck I've always wanted to try. It takes a day in advance to prepare it, so it must be good. Heh, sorry it's your birthday. where do you wanna go," Matt said chuckling as he rubbed the back of his head.

That was typical - she hoped he had the description down right. But Wes was correct, they could just look again if they needed it after all. The two headed further in, until Lexie stopped by a fork in the road. She glanced down both streets, unsure of exactly which way they could go. On the corner of the fork, there was what appeared to be a Cabaret club.

"Er, Wes?" She said, prompting her partner to direct her.

"The Chinesse resturant is fine." Amy said with a small smile. "I'm going to go see my mom after school." She said softly the smile falling from her face.

"I'll put in the order for the duck, and their large back room. I might even decide to rent out a small area where we can all party I'll be providing the music of course," Matt said smiling with a thumbs up.
He then pulled out his cell phone which had a really scratched up back because he didn't have a protective phone case for it.

Amy nodded and pushed her hair back behind her ears. She had a job also but it didn't pay much, barely enough to let her buy food and clothes. She was lucky, her apartment used to be Alleshia's and she got it when her foster mother died but Amy didn't like living there because of the memories she had there. She lived in a alleyway a few blocks away from her home. She never even told Matt that she didn't live there at her apartment. She only made it seem as if she did, only using the apartment to change and wash.

Matt walked away he was heading back to the boys dorms which was set up by lord death for him to stay, and have a weekly allowance along with a room to stay with other boys. He stretched himself out with a yawn he had a day job at a music store where he worked as the manager. Due to the fact he had such a great amount of skill when it came to instruments. No one was allowed to see him during this time due to the fact he had to wear a uniform.

It made a weird kind of sense to him, at least. If those stories about grandpa were true, then it seemed like anybody could sink a lot of time in one of these establishments. "Well I dunno about you, but I'm gonna have faith in my 20/20 vision!" he huffed before marching in.

Amy walked silently down to the cemetary her hair fluttering out behind her in the breeze. She knelt down in front of a beautifully designed grave. "Hey mom..." She said softly as she let all her guards down and let the tears fall down her face. Alleshia was the only mom she ever knew. She started to tell her mom about her year. She had a feeling that even in heaven Alleshia could hear Amy talking about her year.

Lexie glanced at the sign before following Wes in - apparently the place was called Chupa Cabra's. Upon entry, two women quickly bounded up to them, and promptly attached themselves to either one of Wes's arms.

"Hello young man!" One of them chimed. "I'm Risa."

"And I'm Arisa!" The other smiled. "Welcome to Chupa Carba's!"

The two continued to yabber onto him happily, so Lexie took the opportunity to look around. There was one other customer within the club, a man dressed in all black, who was being attended to by another one of the employees, who appeared to be a very young girl. Was this the guy who Wes had sensed?

Wes' facial expression could be described in a single word: 'wut.' Not 'what', but 'wut'. He doubted this situation could end well for him. At best, they were trying to use their abilities to slowly leech the money out of the wallet he just noticed that he didn't have on him, at worst they were probably Witches or something protecting his and Lex's designated target.

Fortunately there were very little people in the vicinity, which made the search rather painstakingly easy. Wes did his best to break from the two ladies' grip and muttered an apology, as well as an explanation of his and his partner's business in the area, before heading in the direction of the man in black and his attendant.

The young girl noticed the duo move towards her, and stood up in front of them. "Sir, Madam, if you wish for me to entertain you, please wait until I've finished with this customer. Let Risa and Arisa attend to your needs in the mean time."

Behind her, the man waved her to the side. "Nah Elizabeth, let me talk to 'em! They've gotta be kids, wonder why they've wandered over here? Looking for anything kiddies?"

Lexie fought the urge to recoil - the man's breath was terrible, and she was pretty sure that some of his teeth were more brown that white. This was the guy that was selling souls? To be honest, to her, it didn't seem that he was in good enough shape to go up against a Kishin egg and win. Plus, she was fairly sure he was heavily intoxicated - was he overconfident, or just plain stupid? Ah well, they'd find out eventually.
