"Will-O-Wisp!" Saisei's fingers ignited with a ghostly blue flame and the Mega Mewtwo Y flung the flames at Mew, intending to burn it.

Mew was burned. "Facade!"

The Iron Tail had connected and so had the Façade. "Shadow Ball!" Saisei conjured an orb of shadow energy and threw it at Mew.

Mew was hit by the Shadow Ball and was hurt by the burn. "Dark Pulse!"

[James Davy]

"Protect!" Saisei conjured the green protection shield and the Dark Pulse bounced right off.

"Dazzling Gleam!" Liam ordered.

[James Davy]

"Swift!" Saisei fired stars at Mew before getting blinded by the flash.

Mew was pelted by the stars and injured by the burn. "Recover!"

"You too, Saisei!" The Mega Mewtwo Y recovered its health as well.

"Signal Beam!" Liam called.

[James Davy]

"Counter with Shadow Ball!" Saisei fired a Shadow Ball at the incoming beam, intending to overpower it.

The attacks collided and made an explosion. Liam ordered Mew to use Shadow Ball.

"Saisei, Double Team!" The Mega Mewtwo Y made several copies and the Shadow Ball made one of them vanish.

"Metronome!" Liam called. This time the attack turned into Draco Meteor. a ball of energy fired up into the air and scattered into multiple ribbons that crashed down onto the stadium floor.

All the copies vanished and Saisei was hit. Shiranui knew how much of a toll the attack had on Mew's power. "Saisei, Fire Blast!" The Mega Mewtwo Y conjured a bright purple flame and fired it at Mew. The flamed formed into a 大 shape as it headed for Mew.

Mew was hit. After it and the burn, Mew was looking worse for ware. Liam ordered another Metronome. This time Mew floated closer to Saisei and began to glow. Liam realized what was happening, and quietly muttered an expletive under his breath. He then braced himself as Mew used explosion. There was a huge cloud of dust. Mew had been KO'd, but if the explosion took Mewtwo out as well, it would count as a win for Liam.

The dust gradually cleared and it was revealed that Saisei used Protect to dodge the explosion. "Mew is unable to battle!" ruled the official, "The winner of the Kanto Pokémon League Championship is Shiranui Tsukiko of Ecruteak City!"

The screen showed Shiranui's image with the likeness of all six Pokemon used in the battle with the word: "Congratulations!" written in a fancy golden script. Below it unbold green capital letters it read "CHAMPION". Fireworks went off in the sky as the stadium erupted with cheers. Liam recalled Mew, parsing it for the hard work. Liam walked over to congratulate Shiranui and Saisei on the battle.

"You put up a good fight yourself, Liam," replied Shiranui as he recalled a smiling Saisei and prepared for the downside of reaching the top: being mobbed.

Liam's dad ran up with his Alakazam. "Teleport now!" The Alakazam teleported the group away just as the mob was starting to reach them. They were dropped off in the room Liam's father was renting during the completion.
