After a screening process that was unbelievable for where you came form, be it scientist or military you find yourself in a dark room in the Pentagon. On the wall there is a sign that reads Homeworld command and you begin to wonder what you have gotten yourself into. It has to be some kind of big joke, right?
A small white haired man walks into the room, his uniform reading a Chief Master Sergeant in the U.S.A.F, his name tag reads "Harriman". He walks up and a blank TV screen changes to a picture of a room with a strange grey ring in it. "Welcome ladies and gentleman to Homeworld command." He pointed at the screen. "This here, is the Stargate. It is a device created by a race we know as the Ancients. These devices are scattered all across the galaxy and can transport matter from one planet to another instantaneously. If you don't believe me, you'll see soon enough-"
For several minutes the video continued, he moved from one topic to another. Hyperspace, Spaceships and general interstellar travel and a lot of Sci-Fi mumbo jumbo that a lot of the military types didn't understand. The scientists however did, a lot of theoretical stuff that seemed utterly unbelievable. Though given a couple of days researching the necessary material you find yourself in a grey room with a window behind you, in the Cheyenne mountain complex. Before you one of the Stargate Devices, you watch as it dials and then an unstable vortex appears and then settles into the event horizon. A voice comes on through the intercom. "Good luck to you all, the Captain of the Catherine Langford-" You briefly think back to why the ship (After once again thinking how you are being stationed on a spaceship) was named as it was. "-is expecting you. We wish you the best off luck and god speed."
Stargate Alliances is a roleplay set in the current world setting, in the universe of Stargate. Atlantis has returned back to Pegasus and the crew from Destiny is still in stasis if all has gone to plan. The main issue is however that the war with the Lucian Alliance has escalated, with the people of Earth uniting with their allies and beginning to form a fledgling of a federation to combat the Alliance which is managing to take over the Galaxy in a way that the Goa'uld were never able to as they are able to understand the population and corrupt them to do as they wish.
The Langford is a ship under the direct control of the IOA and is tasked to investigate planets whose gates cannot be dialed and react to any immediate threats to Earths allies from the Lucian Alliance.
What can you play? Anything. Scientist, Doctor, Medic, Soldier, Linguist, Pilot, Officer, Cook, Computer Technician. Anything you want to play, you can play it.
