Sammy smiled at him with a goofy grin as he went to sit with him. "I took a few lessons in karate and boxing to learn how to defend myself so when this place was being robbed I was just the only insane one to do go against the drunk." Sammy said as she ate her hot dog happily. "I love this place the food is good and the atmosphere is awesome doesn't matter who you are or what you do for a living they all come here to have a good time and eat." She said with a smile as she ate and drank her soda.

Carter smiled. "It is a nice place," he said. A thought went through his head: Was this a date?

Sammy was having a good time and finished her hot dog fast and licked her lips. "Mike your food as good as usual." She yelled to him and Mike laughed. "Want the dessert dog?" he asked and she smiled. "You bet make that two of them cus I am starving." She said for she has a high metabolism so she always ate a lot of food and that her grandmother never really feeds her that much food. Mike nodded and got to work while Sammy smiled at Andre. "So you like the hot dog place?" She asked with a smile.

"Yeah," Andre said, nodding and smiling. "And the desert dog sounds good." He paused. "Can we hang out again? I've had more fun today than I have in a while."

"Yeah it is so good most people think it is gross but Mike knows how to make it good." Sammy said with a smile as she listen to him ask about hanging out again. "Sure sounds like fun and I had to admit I had a lot more fun then I normally do also." She said with a smile to him. Soon mike came out with the two dogs that had whipe cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles, and a cherry on top. "Yay these look awesome."

"One suggestion," said Andre, "use a Twinkie for the bun."

Mike thought about that. "That actually sounds a good idea I am going to experiment with that." he siad with a smilea s he left to go figure it out while Sammy ate her food. "I think you made his night." She said as she got whip cream on her face from eating. She loved eating the food there and it we better then her grandmothers cooking.

Andre wolfed down his desert dog and portion of the chili fries. "That was good," he sighed. He pointed to his cheek. "You got a little something right there."

Sam laughed at Andre as she watched him eat his desert dog with a smile."Told you its the best." She said with a smile but when he pointed out she had something on her face she got her napkin and cleaned up. "Sorry I tend to be a messy eater sometimes." She said and then she finished her food. "Now that was the best but by the looks of the time we better head home its 6pm." She said pointing at the clock.

"Right," said Andre. He finished and sighed. "I had a good time. Can I walk you home?"

"I had a great time also." Sammy siad as Mike waved bye to the two before getting ready to close up. "Nah its ok I don't want to keep you from getting home and I don't want your mom to get made for you being late for dinner." Sammy siad with a smile a she got her stuff all set and ready to go. "I will see you in school tomorrow thought." She said with a smile.

Andre waved good-bye and went home. It was a pleasant evening-- warm, with a cool breeze. When he arrived home, he was instantly greeted by Goliath. His mother was in the kitchen. "Soup's on!" she called.

Sammy waved bye to Andre as she rose her skateboard back to her grandparents knowing she was going to be yelled at her grandmother and say she can't have dinner. And she was right as soon asshe walked in the door her grandmother slapped her rght across the face. "You ungrateful hild coming home late not lettin us know you are getting no dinner." She said in an angry tone before walking away before her grandfather comforted his granddaughter. "Know you Sam you must have are already." He said and she nodded at him. Her grandfather smiles and let her head up to her room to go ahead and sleep so she be ready for school tomorrow.

Andre enjoyed supper, but his mind remained on Sam, even when he went to bed. It had been the longest time since he'd had anyone he could truly call a friend.

Andre woke the next morning to Goliath jumping on him. As soon as the young man gave a sign of activity, the little dog jumped for his feet, trying to bite his toes through the blanket. Andre smiled, playing with his dog for a few minutes before getting dressed. He was an interesting dog-- when he got excited, he whimpered and did a little dance, going in circles and looking back, jumping up and standing on his hind legs. It was cute.

Sammy woke up to the normal yelling of her grandparents about how to punish her and how her grandmother would call her a disaster waiting to happen. "I am telling you that girl along with her father should have died not my daughter who I raised right I still can't believe she married that man and gave birth to the child they claim that is my granddaughter." her grandmother yelled and Sammy had grown used to it for she knew her grandmother hated her a lot. Her grandmother had leafy to go be with her book club and her grandfather made her breakfast knowin he heard them for she was really quiet. Once she finished eating she got ready the rest of the way and headed to school without saying a word.

Andre went on his way to school, and saw Sammy. She looked like she was in a bad mood. "Hey, Sam!" he exclaimed, waving, running up. "You oka--" He stopped, noticing that she had a bruise on her cheek. "God, what happened?"

Sam heard Andrea call out her name so she stopped and looked at him. She laughed a little when he waved at her then rushed over but stopped when he noticed her cheek. "My grandmother got upset with me because I came bak late and I never called... Though she broke my cell and refused to buy me a new one so how am I suppose to call." She said with a small sigh. "My grandmother just really hates me and wants me gone."

"She sounds like a terrible woman," Andre commented. He checked his watch. "We have a half-hour before school starts. How about we get some coffee before we hit school? Sweet Fields has a back-to-school special on cappuccinos and other coffee drinks."

"She is she loves my mother but hates the man she married and hates how she gave birth to an illigement child like me all because I take after my dad more then my mother." She said with a small sigh for she was happy her grandfather was not like that at all. Sam then looked at ANdre when he suggested coffee and it actually sounds good at the moment. "Yeah coffee sounds good right now I need and boost to help me wake up for the rest of the day." She said with a smile towards him.

Andre led the way. Sweet Fields was a tiny coffee shop, actually built in the local secondhand store. "If you notice, the police station is right across the street there," he chuckled. "Coffee and donuts in one place."
