[Fairy Tale Dreamer]

Samantha Harper was a typical tomboy that preferred being called Sam or Sammy.She was starting a new school after moving in with her grandparent because of her parents had passed away in a tragic car accident when she was in the 5th grade. For years her grandmother tried to turn Sammy into a girly girl that she should be and tried to keep Sam away from soccer. But all it caused Sammy to do one day was just run away from her grandmother. Sam's grandfather had soon got things where Sammy could come home and be who she want to be, since her grand father was okay with Sammy being a tomboy for that was just who she was. But once She returned home her grandmother pretty much gave Sammy the cold shoulder, not treating her like a grandchild but like an orphan they took in.
Her grandmother made Sammy's life hard for the past few years until they moved to a new house for they could no longer live in the area where her parents used to live. So now Sammy is starting a new school in the new school year and she was thinking it was a good fresh start in life at a new school. For she hated her old school where everyone knew that her parents had died in an accident and they always showed pity on their faces and kept asking her if she needs a shoulder to cry on or if she needed anything. It only made Sammy sick for they were people that never really noticed her until her parents died. So to her it was a new start on life and she was glad to start a new beginning even though her grandmother was just making it hard on her but she know she can concur anything in her path.
Sammy was standing in front of her knew high school and students looked at her like she was a freak almost. Sammy had parts of her hair dyed green,a green tank top with a black jacked over it, and a pair of baggy jeans with old sneakers. "Well this school is better then nothing I guess." Was all she said as she put her headphones on and started to make her way to the doorway of the school.

Andre was already waiting for first hour, his headphones on, playing music. He sang quietly along: "We're running with the shadows of the night, so, baby, take my hand, it'll be all right..."
His teacher, Mrs. Cihak, tapped him on the shoulder, and he paused the music, adjusting his glasses.
"Andre, they want you down at the office," she informed him. Andre nodded.
"In trouble already and school hasn't even started," he muttered lightheartedly.
"Didn't seem that way," said Mrs. Cihak.
"Well, it's usually because of something I did." He put his headphones back on and headed to the main office. Unbeknownst to him, the PA system announced, "Samantha Harper, please report to the office. Samantha Harper, please report to the office. Thank you."

Sammy had just walked into the school and was looking through the papers she had gotten from the school in advance before starting the school year. "That is odd I must have left my class schedule at home." She said to herself as she took her headphones off trying to figure out where her locker was so she could put her stuff away. Her bag was just getting to heavy to carry now with all the stuff she had to pack for school. "Man this school map makes no sense at all they really need to put that compass symbol on here to help people find their way." Sam said but soon finally found it and was relieved as she opened it and started to put her extra stuff that was in her bag in the locker. But as she was doing that she heard the PA system call for her and she groaned. "Ok its the first day of school what did I do and I thought grandpa told them I hate being called Samantha.......Grandmother must have called and said something again." She said as she put the last of her things in the locker before closing it and making her way to the office.
Sam looked at the map again to find the office and she was glad her bag was lighter now for it was easier on her shoulder now. "Oh here it is the office." Sammy said as she finally found it and walked in to the room and up to the desk. "Um Hi I am Samantha Harper and can you please not call me Samantha I prefer being called Sam or Sammy." She told the lady at the desk and all she did was nodded and asked her to sit and wait for a bit and Sam groaned for she felt like her time was being wasted now and she did not want to be late on her first day of school.

Andre made it to the office, whispering lyrics. "I'm always working, slaving every day. Gotta get away from that same old same old. I need a chance just to get away..." He paused his music and addressed the woman behind the desk. "Morning, Lisa," he said. "So, what'd I do?"
"It's more what we need you to do," she answered. "Mr. Whitmore's expecting you. You too, Sam." Andre looked at the girl sitting down. She was... different from the prissy, girly-girl princesses here. He nodded in greeting and knocked on the principal's door.

Sam looked up when she heard someone softly singing and son saw it was a guy that pretty much did the same thing as her when she had her headphones on when she listen to music. She watched him talk to the clerk like he had been there a lot and asking he he did, which made her think he gets in trouble a lot.
When he looked at her, she just did not look phased when he stared at her a little for she already looked different from a typical girly girl and she was not afraid to show. "Man what does the principle want with me its my first day in this new school and already sent to the principles office." She said as she followed Andre after she nodded back at him with a greeting but she was still wondering why the principle wanted to see them both.

Mr. Whitmore closed the door when they sat down. He was in his late fifties, balding slightly. He sat down.
"I can tell you're both wondering why I called you two down here," he said.
"I was kinda wondering that, yeah," said Andre. He seemed comfortable.
"Well, Andre," the principal said, "Sam is a new student here, and by some quirk in scheduling, you both have the same classes together. So I want you to help Sam get on her feet. Show her around, introduce her to people, the works." He looked at Sammy. "Is that okay, Ms. Harper?"

Sammy sat next to Andre once they were in the principles office though she did not understand why she was in the office with someone she has zero knowledge about. But she remained quiet as the two talked for she was just not in the mood to talk but she freaked when the principle said that he wanted Andre to show her around school and introduce her to people and people just stare at her.
"Um Mr. Whitmore no offense but do you see how I am dress who wants to meet me I mean when I walked to the entrance of the school all the students can do is stare at me weird wondering why I am dressed like this." Sammy said to him and was not comfortable with this idea at all. "Sorry I am more of a loaner so I don't know if this would really work out Mr. Whitmore." Sammy said with her same blank look n her face.

"It's just for today," said Whitmore.
"Besides," added Andre, "you can make friends later. Anyway, it'll probably go back to normal for me after that." He looked down at his feet. "It happened before, it'll happen again."

"Mr. Whitmore I am sure my grandfather told you that people don't really like me because how different I am." Sammy said with her arms crossed and blew some of her hair out of her face. "Besides I don't get along with people after my grandparents to me in and my grandmother decided to be evil to me." sam said not saying that her parents had died but she was sure that the principle was already informed on that.
She then looked at Andre. "And by normal you mean no on really talking to you, ignoring you, while you listen to your music and sing to it.....sounds like what will happen to me." She said as she stretched a little and sighed before standing up. "Might as well do this I don't want to be late for class and I doubt Andre wants to be late either." She explained for she just did not want to give her grandmother another reason to yell her ear off.

"Of course," said Whitmore. "First hour is with Mrs. Cihak, computers. Best get going." Andre nodded and led the way. As they walked down the hallway, he glanced at Sam. She didn't wear designer clothes, or a lot of makeup like the other girls. In fact, he kind of liked how she'd dyed her hair.
"You were right on the mark," he said quietly. "Just so you know." He paused. "What's on your playlist?"

Sammy followed Andre as she messed with her iPod trying to pick a song that was good and she looked up at Andre when he asked what was on her play list. "Just a few random bands basically songs that I like for there is Within Temptation is my favorite band, I listen to J-pop, some rock, soundtracks, and even game sound tracks." Sammy said not mentioning she had a few Disney in her play list for she liked the movie Frozen. "What is on your playlist since you asked what was on mine." Sammy asked back as she kept on fiddling with her iPod trying to find a song she wanted to listen to at the moment. "And its not hard to figure you out you are acting just like me when it comes to being a loaner I spend most of my time alone to sing while listening to music, playing video games, soccer, and skateboarding." Sammy explained.

"Mostly 80's rock," said Andre. "Poison, Foreigner, Journey, Pat Benatar, Heart, AC/DC... but I'll really listen to a lot more. Some pop, some modern, some country, some rap. Just so long as it's not classical. But, truth be told, I really enjoy music from the Halo series. Like the MJOLNIR Mix." He paused to listen to Sam. "Video games and music are pretty much how I get away from it all. You'll either hear music or me playing video games at home."

Sammy listened to him tell her about the music he listens to and thought it w as pretty cool at all the music he listens too. She also listen to him on how all he does is listen to music and play video games and she stretched a little. "Believe it or not I want to join the soccer team since I hope to go pro one day and make it to the top like my dad wanted to but couldn't cus he knocked my mom up so he took a soccer teaching job instead so they could take care of me and raise me." She explained as she cracked her back before they finally made it to the classroom door so they could go to class. "So this is the first class of the day huh?" She asked looking at the door.

Andre nodded as he listened. "Yeah, first class," he said. "Well, I'm pullin' for ya to get on the team." He gave a tiny smile as he opened the door. Most of the students were late. Mrs. Cihak was a brunette woman in her mid-thirties, slim, except for a baby bump. She smiled warmly at the two.
"You must be Sam," she said. Andre nodded. "Well, I'm Mrs. Cihak, but most of the students just call me Jill."

"Thanks for rooting me on I can use all the rooting I can get since my grandmother is against me playing soccer." Sam said with a small smile as they entered the class room and saw the teacher smiling at her which made her feel weird since she was not used to the teachers smiling at her so nicely becuase of how she looked most teachers think she was a deliquent. "Nice to meet you Mrs. Cihak and thank you for not calling me by my full name I hate being called Samantha now." She said making sure to be polite towards the teacher before going to take an empty seat just wanting to get through her classes already and then do what she wanted to do for she was just not used to interesting with people. Especially teachers now these day for her old schools the teacher always treated her differntly after after they found out her parents had died but it was years ago and she no longer wanted to live in the past but the tachers kept making her live in the past so she did not like teachers who did that to her it only made her upset and mad at them.

"I talked with your grandpa," said Jill. "He's a good man."
Andre sat next to Sam. "I think people should do whay they wish," he said. "Surprisingly, I learned that from Optimus Prime: 'Freedom is the right of all sentient beings'." He got his folder and handed Sam hers.

"At least it was my grandfather that you talked to my grandmother will just say evil stuff about me." Sammy said as she relaxed in her seat. "You watched Transformers I had to sneak out to watch that movie cus my grandmother said its no appropriate for girls." Sammy said to him as she pulled out papers and a pencil to takes not with and noticed that he handed her a folder. "Um thanks." She said as she got her stuff situated and then started to take notes for the class even though she rather be skateboarding or playing video games, not sit in class and take notes all day.
She ended up doing doodles on the paper just because she was flat out bored with class already. She was pretty much a straight A student but she just got bored what to easily. After a while she started tapping a rhythm on her desk to a song not really noticing she was doing that for it was a little second nature for her to do that.

"Screw appropriateness," said Andre. "If it's entertaining, I'll enjoy it." He made a look of disgust as the other students filed in. "Ugh. The last thing I want is these primitive monkeys." He spoke softly, not wanting to get punched on the first day. Class went by slowly to him; he knew most of this from last year. But he sat, taking notes. There would be no assignment today, at least, just a PowerPoint on... well, PowerPoint presentations.

"One thing about my grandmother she is old fashion she thinks the way she was raised is the right way and that is how all girls should be raised even me while my parents were ok with how I am now." Sammy said as she want back to the presentation and soon pulled out some earphones and started to listen to music not caring about the class. She studied this a long time ago and she got A's on her reports about them so she knew she will do fine. She yawned a little for she did not get a lot of sleep for being up late playing games then her grandmother waking her up to early only because it was the time she was woken up, which she thought it was stupid because the only reason her grandmother got up at that time was because she was the first on her bust stop and she got adapted to it. But Sammy she hated it a lot and wished her grandmother would stopped and leave her be. Class felt like it was dragging on and she really hoped that the bell would ring really soon so they could leave.

Andre was up quickly, heading to the next class. "Biology with Tim," he said. "He prefers Tim because people usually can't pronounce his last name." Tim was a bald man in his mid-forties, muscular, with a slim layer of fat under his skin. "Beware of two things, Sam: bad jokes and pranks from him."
