The fast movers roared over the ruined city of Philadelphia, their deadly delta shaped forms cutting through the air, the sonic booms of their engines echoing across the battered and blasted landscape. A few minutes later a solitary bog hammer came in, low and fast, making towards a relatively rubble free area. Onboard the crew scanned the horizon and their equipment for any hostiles in the area as they drove forward in the ashtray, what the army called the “dust”, which seemed to choke the life out of everything that entered it.

Philadelphia had been a cluster fuck from the jump; humint had mistakenly portrayed the city as a stronghold for the Angar-Ryllians. The collateral damage was horrendous, the realization that the city had tried to stay out of the war, had tried to stay neutral, had tried to be a safe zone for refugees, came too late as sadly the hopes of the city leaders had been met with one hellacious hammering from orbit. It had been a decapitating attack, one designed to kill the leaders in one overwhelming move and instill fear in the population. The roads leading out of the city were clogged with bodies strewn about like so much debris and trash. The mud movers called it death row highway; the aliens hammered the fleeing civilians mercilessly, both human and alien forces fighting over the fleeing civilians and dropping ordinance on them, killing them where they stood. Once the human leaders discovered that the Angar-Ryllians used the civvies as shields to protect their movements in the city; they deemed it best to drop in operators to hunt down and take out the sick fucks that had hunkered down among the civvies, who were not above condemning a city to death to continue their war effort against Earth.

The pilot looked back and shouted to General Freedom, “We're coming in fast, so far so good." The blue clad hero nodded and glanced out the open door, the gunner kept scanning the rubble and rooftops for any activity, the business end of his mini-gun swaying easily. They were two minutes out, and no matter how many insertions he did, General Freedom always felt queasy. That was a good thing as it kept him alive, better to be queasy than cocky. Checking his suit then his gear, General Freedom was startled when the jumpmaster clapped him on the shoulder, "Hey Sir! Get ready!" the woman yelled, her face grim, and her eyes hidden by the opaque eye shields. Nodding General Freedom concentrated slowly as the craft slowed and began to hover. With a loud click, the side door popped then slid open, hearing her yell, "GO! GO! GO!" General Freedom formed some blue energy around his muscular body. Once the pale light embraced his body, he swung out and dropped out of the aircraft. The sudden jolt as he touched boots to earth caused the ground to ripple as spiral cracks formed everywhere, radiating away from him. As he touched down, the fast bog hammer whipped around and lit a fire as it roared out of the city.

The boom and rattle from the acceleration caused the ground to vibrate. As it did General Freedom was moving, a swirl of energy surrounding his massive from as he vacated the LZ seeking cover, he may be one of the world’s mightiest heroes, but the weapons of the alien Angar-Rylla had taken nearly a dozen of the other heroes out of action, killing them before they could fathom what happened.

Finding a still standing brick wall, he hunkered down and checked his time. Marking it, he tapped the ear bud, the chatter flooded him as a single voice cut through, "Bolo what's your status? Over."

Peering over the wall again, General Freedom chinned the mic, "Six this is Bolo, I am reading you five by five. Over."

"Roger that Bolo. You have some reported soft targets a klick south of the LZ. Over."

Scanning south, he could see what looked like a wide expanse of rubble. Licking his lips he nodded, "Roger six- soft targets south, one klick. I'll service the target. Over. Out."

Standing General Freedom cracked his neck and began making his way towards the reported movement. Covering the kilometer in short order as he hovered a scant few inches above the ground, he came to a small rise; lying flat, he stretched out and scanned the area with wary eyes. After a once over he didn't see anything, preparing to move he stopped as a tall armored Angar-Ryllan wandered into view. After a moment of studying the figure this was probably the detected movement, the figure looked dangerous enough, after all he was wearing the heavy powered armor of the Imperial Knights of the Angar-Ryallian. Probably a scout, if not, well it didn’t really matter did it, he was going to be meeting whatever god they worshipped in a damn hurry. Scanning the area for any other movement, once he was satisfied they were alone, the blue-clad hero crawled down and made use of cover to reach a position nearly a hundred yards away. Pausing as he scanned the area again, and again seeing nothing but the knight, who now sat nonchalantly as if he were enjoying a day out on the town.

"Probably feels safe, like he has not a care in the world, killing him won’t bring back any of the dead. But it will be something." He muttered as he rose to a half crouch and began running with increasing speed from cover to cover, reaching a point about fifty yards away. One last scan then he stood and leaped into the air with a tremendous burst of strength. The knight turned, rising slowly as if in shock, then the energy weapons began glowing. However, it was too late; the blue clad hero was on top of him, a tremendous fist smashing into the body, crushing the armor with enough force to shatter granite. The man inside the armor shrieked once before all the oxygen in his chest burst out in a loud explosive woof then it was over.

General Freedom dropped the body then looked around, somewhere in the rubble of the city, the Angar-Ryllians had established a command post, and that was why he was here. If he could take out that center then the remnants of the American military and the few remaining heroes could begin serious operations against the alien invaders, begin taking back their world.

Fury sat to one side in the busy Angar-Ryllan outpost, nestled in the surviving bottom floor of a damaged high-rise. All around him shouts rang out among the alien invaders, and the faint sounds of open warfare aggravated the Fireen’s ears. He had no interest in murdering weakling humans, that was never what he was there for and their similar appearances unsettled him, he was sent with the intention of combatting humanities greatest individual warriors. The Angar-Ryllan had carefully observed the potential resistance they would be facing, and deemed their foot soldiers insufficient. As much of the planet had to be captured intact, and with an irony perhaps the Americans would appreciate they had deemed the destruction of a few key cities full of people necessary for a clean and relatively cheap victory. Once the terror missions were successful and the armies could be deployed the fall of Earth was inevitable.

The Fireen’s brow furrowed as an Angar-Ryllan, large and imposing, shouted in his general direction from a cautious distance away. Finally having enough of the man’s commanding nature the very human-looking alien burst from his chair and smashed him through the wall of the building, leaving a shocked silence around him. His body was donned in the ancient armour of his people, the Fireen, though it resembled the Angar-Ryllan in the traditional style it was obviously far superior for his particular energy-manipulating abilities. Hence why his entire form glowed an iridescent and terrifying blue, his signature appearance, as he walked out the door. Despite his obvious rejection of the Angar-Ryllan’s commanding authority, he had still listened to the orders, and deemed them worthy of his time.

Freedom? He would put the hero to the test.

Steve paused a moment as he glanced around, something was drawing his attention. A loud mechanical sound, followed by heavy thumps that caused the ground to reverberate forced the man known as General Freedom to square up, his eyes sweeping the area for the source.

Then it came into view, a giant mechanical beast, standing roughly forty-feet tall with thick heavy legs and a ponderous head/body that bristled with wicked armament. The head seemed to be searching for him, thus the swaying motion as the sensors swept the area.

Crouching low, the mighty hero laid a hand on a chuck of concrete, judging its weight with an exploratory heft; he guessed it to be around a ton.

Perfect.

As the mechanized walker came fully into the square, General Freedom stood up suddenly and spun on his heels, the chunk of concrete gripped with both hands as he building of torque. Then in an instant, he released the rebar infused chunk at the machine with astounding results.

Striking the legs with incredible force followed by an explosive crack the chunk bounced off the machine, but its purpose had been achieved. The machine protested as the legs buckled and collapsed, the heavy torso/head crashed onto the ground in a plume of dust as several weapons fired reflexively by the startled pilot.

Even as the machine was falling, the blue-clad hero was airborne, closing the distance between them in such fashion that as the machine touched the ground, General Freedom was bashing at the cockpit where the pilot struggled to bring weapons to bear. Too late, a heavy fist crashed through the metal cocoon, striking the pilot in the chest with such force that his heart and lungs ruptured from the impact.

Dropping off the smoking machine, General Freedom flashed a quick grin, “Two down, a shit ton more to go.”

Turning he cast a quick glance around trying to spot any Angar-Ryllians that might be in the area. Satisfied there was none, glancing down the alley the way the machine had come; he decided that it was his best option. With a grunt, the man known as General Freedom began walking down the alley.

Which was when Fury decided to make an appearance.

The pilot had relayed the hero’s presence almost the moment he entered sensor range, having given his last moments over to the task the Fireen was loathe to let his sacrifice go to complete waste. Even if he gave not a single damn for the Angar-Ryllan’s plights, for there was ultimately only one reason he fought, Fury would still see the hero brought down. Hence why he exerted himself, hence why only a few moments after the pilot was stricken down the energy-manipulating warrior crashed into the end of the alley-way scattering bins and debris in every direction.

He had righted himself after landing almost instantaneously, and locked General Freedom with a piercing gaze. He strode towards him, breaking out into a run as his right hand trailed across the wall, energy leaking into the brickwork of whatever building it happened to be. Such observations were unimportant to Fury.

Words weren’t necessary for such a serious conflict, this was no time for arrogant boasting, only clinical killing. At naught but forty feet from his target the Fireen lashed out and flung his right hand forward, the energy tightening along the wall behind him and ripping a long line of bricks from the wall, sending them hurtling down the alley-way like a whip directly at the General. Such a minor display of his power had turned the masonry into a deadly projectile the like of which could shear through an entire battalion with ease, or sever a car in two. Time would tell if the General could deal with it, or the rapidly approaching Fireen. Fury would of course be acting upon the results, but time was short for both of them, Fury was fast.

The cacophony of sound and fury where detritus exploded at the end of the alleyway, amid the chaos stood a solitary figure. Locking eyes for a moment both men stared at each other. Then the alien was moving, slowly at first then in a run. The right hand touching the wall, energy streaming from it until with a sudden devastating move the hand shot forward. Tons of brick and mortar flew towards General Freedom from a scant forty feet, a crude but highly effective attack considering the confines of the alley way.

However, the once shining symbol of Americana was not idle, he was facing the hero killer, the destroyer who murdered and butchered many heroes, some who had barely mastered their powers when they faced him.

A snarl escaped his lips, a sound that was drowned by the roar of collapsing building and racing debris as General Freedom straightened every sinew taut then at the last moment he launched himself skyward. A tremendous sonic boom filled the ruined alleyway as the hero rockets skyward. The roiling air pressure met the bricks and for an instant they hovered, suspended before they tumbled onward in a haphazard way, their direction no longer a focused path but a chaotic one splattering into the burned husk of the walker, ripping metal away from the frame, pulverizing the protesting structure under the sheer impact force.

A thin blue sheen surrounded the hero escaping the onslaught, and he was moving incredibly fast, but so was the Furian and while the hero was sure he would clear the uppermost portion of the ruined buildings he had no doubt that the alien might match his vertical assent or otherwise knock him off his trajectory.

Swirling streamers of blue energy trailed after him, General Freedom would attempt, if able to swing around once he had gained enough height to assess the situation. Never one to give up an advantage, he hoped he had one in his ability to fly.

Fury watched his opponent burst skyward as he stopped dead-still in the alley-way. Bricks and mortar dropped all around him, seemingly missing the Fireen, but more importantly the Hero was making his escape. Fury had not expected him to flee so soon.

Presuming it pointless to hide his ability to fly after so obviously presenting it at the beginning of their conflict, the Fireen opted to float upwards so that he had risen to maybe fifteen meters in the air and then adjusted his flight so that he was always directly below the hero, watching him intently to deduce what he planned to do. The Fireen had obliged in providing the first course of the battle, it was in his mind now Freedom’s turn to serve.

Having cleared the alley, General Freedom roared upward to an altitude of 1,500 feet before he stopped. Moving slowly in a drift towards his left, General Freedom watched intently, below him, the Fireen rose slowly, always directly beneath the blue clad hero. Continuing to drift, the hero snarled, wanting to see if the man was indeed mirroring his position, and he was.

Narrowing eyes, General Freedom sparked the ZPE, allowing the sheen of blue energy to wash over his body in a shimmering display. The energy display would alert the aliens, and a thought raced through his mind, would they come or would they allow their hero killer to fight alone. It was something that gave him pause. It was too late now, the die was cast, he was here and they knew it, he was flying and they knew it. It seemed he had to get through the man below him before he could focus on his mission, to locate and destroy the alien command center.

Since the alien had thrown the first energy blow, Steve felt it only right to return it, at least to feel out the abilities of the man. Forming a swirling mass of blue energy around his left fist, the hero paused; inhaling a deeply then discharged the energy, a fraction of the power available to General Freedom at the figure directly below him.

Would the energy streaking towards the man hit him, if he were as good as the intelligence reports indicated, probably not. If it did hit would it damage the alien? Perhaps, but possibly not at the limited scope that was released. Without waiting to see the results, he dove towards a small building’s roof after releasing the energy. Landing with a solid thump, he glanced around to get a lay for the rooftop. It was a forty-foot square with broken and ruined electric equipment, a bashed H/VAC system, maybe two tons of condenser and machinery, and tucked into a niche, a headless doll in a tattered dress.

A swirl of blue surrounded him as he waited to see if the alien rose to meet him, to see if the energy had any affect, to see if earth would survive this invasion.

It had been Fury’s intention to make any assault on him more difficult as he floated far below the hero, and his stratagem proved near immediately effective as he neatly swooped to one side, far slower than the projectile but for the fair distance it had to travel to reach him. Even so, the strange attacked burned against his shielding, showing that even from distance it had some impressive power behind it. The Fireen shrugged internally, and looked down at the crater below.

“Destructive.” He remarked drily, hovering higher to keep track of the hero as he landed on the roof of a fairly small building. The Fireen zipped over to him, showing incredibly impressive control of his energy manipulation, considering the actual concepts of flying using kinetic energy alone. His unusual pairing with the Void gave him such ability, a fact not lost on him as he sensed its ever increasing desire to drain the hero of his credible supply of power.

“Shutup.” He told it, aloud for some reason, as he approached the roof, incredibly cautious for any attack launched on his person. Provided he made it within one hundred feet unmolested he would have the opportunity to make his own move. All the while he had been flying he was also pretty incredibly multi-tasking the formation of two blazing blue energy discs, one in either hand. Due to not particularly needing to fly all that fast he was semi-standing in the air, his palms down to either side of his body, allowing them to grow to their maximum size.

He watched the hero upon the roof, and then gave a small nod as he flicked his right hand forward and launched the controllable projectile like a discus. The second remained blazing in his hand, condensing and growing with his considerable stores of power. It flew through the air quickly, though not so fast as the hero's own power, he could avoid it in terms of sheer speed, but it was Fury's ability to move it in mid-air that he relied upon as he sent it dead centre at the hero.

It would have been too easy if the exploratory attack had done any serious damage to the floating alien. Too easy by far, no this was a skilled warrior, not a rookie with a lot of power and no skill.

A slight smile fluttered on the lips of the blue clad hero as the alien maneuvered towards him, he was able to fly which negated an advantage that General Freedom had, but perhaps he had the advantage of speed, perhaps not.

As the flying man zipped towards him, General Freedom cast a glance at the h/vac condenser a scant few feet from him. In one fluid move, the hero stepped towards it, ripping it from its base, and then hurling the 12,000-pound block of battleship gray machinery at the floating alien.

The bulky condenser left his hands, spinning in a relatively flat trajectory as the alien closed. General Freedom was no fool and fully expected the alien to otherwise avoid it, or go through it. He was still unsure of the aliens powers, other than he was responsible for the deaths of some of the hero’s friends. That he could fly was evident, he wielded energy and had a good deal of control over it. Judging by the bulk and heft of the armor, the man that filled it was no slouch in the physical department, perhaps matching even General Freedom’s own fearsome strength.

Then he spied it, the alien was glowing, something was in his hands, more than likely his energy powers. It was blue, with a frown General Freedom felt the ZPE that was surging around him flare a little. Was this alien a mirror image of his own powers? That would be interesting and painful for both no matter who won.

The streaks of energy racing around his form illuminated a few degrees of brightness more. He had a moment more of consideration before the heavy condenser would reach the Fireen. Whoever this alien was, he was no amateur. He was here to kill Steve and that thought caused a chill to rush down his spine. A coldness settled in his stomach as the realization settled. A grim smile crossed his lips briefly.

The Fireen had in fact made it only part of the way to his opponent before he was stopped, though to his eyes the interruption was a blessing in disguise. He watched the large chunk of metal flying towards him with apparent disinterest, though swiftly he calculated that the strength required for such a feat was far beyond his own physical capabilities right then. Surprisingly, it was also significantly above what he had believed his opponent capable of as well, though the briefing had been a little sketchy.

The large chunk of metal hurtled towards him, covering the significant distance with speed, and all the while he closed on it with energy burning in his hands. At the last moment he sent a jolt of his own shield forward, with some difficulty, and slowed its progress while pushing off it, sending him flying backwards at a comparative speed to it. Still, to the hero’s far away gaze it should seem as if the metal had collided with Fury, and for a moment that was all he could summarise.

Until suddenly two blazing blue discs cut through the metallic object and hurtled straight at the hero, benefiting from their extra moments of power in terms of sheer speed. They arced past each other in the air, approaching from either side to make it particular difficult for the hero of earth to escape his fate, that of being sliced to pieces by blazing energy.

Fury himself flew up and over the sheared metal, actually using it to boost forward like a swimmer bouncing off the wall of a pool. He wasn’t holding back on his speed now, ramping up to a cool 200mph as he sped straight forward towards his foe. Though this time he dipped up and down, making no easy target for projectile fire as he rapidly approached the General.

General Freedom grimaced when the condenser struck the floating alien. The intelligence reports stated that this alien was crafty and skilled. It was hard to believe a simple object like a condens…

General Freedom didn’t finish that thought as two brilliant discs of energy sliced through the metal like a hot knife through butter. This could indeed be painful if those nasty looking objects struck him.

As the ZPE shield formed on his left arm, General Freedom saw the alien pop up and over the split condenser. This was not good, there seemed no way to avoid being cut by the discs of whirling blue energy. The intelligence was right, this was a dangerous man.

Dropping into a half-crouch the approach of the two speeding discs dictated he had no time for anything other than a purely defensive move for survival. Mind made up the Hero of Earth acted.

Now a 12,000 lb. condenser is not a light thing, it is heavy and bolted down to ensure stability. However when it is ripped from its foundation a hole appears, and one appeared here. Not an enormous hole, no but one that gave him a glimpse out of the corner of his eye of the flimsy air ducts below.

From his crouch he hurled himself to his right, the shield offering some protection from the disc on his left, however as he hit the hole and subsequent aluminum ductwork the disc on his right cut across his calf, a superficial wound spewing a crimson spray across the roof top.

Grunting in pain as he hit the ducting, a loud thumped echoed around followed by a protestation of metal as the bolts ripped either from the wall or popped through the thin metal, causing the entire thing to fall through to the floor beneath the roof.

This small building had struggled to stand, had fought against all odds to remain upright, however that ended when the weight of General Freedom hit the floor. A loud scream of protest as joists gave way and a sheering of load bearing walls as they split and buckled under the impact.

The pain in his calf stung, burned and caused him to wince, but all that was forgotten as gravity took hold and the building collapsed in on itself. A cacophony of sound and detritus filled the air as the four story building simply seemed too disintegrated as the supports gave way and the bricks tumbled inward.

“Oh Shit!”

Fury ramped up his speed as he saw the General make a narrow escape, with superficial wounds at best, but he was far too late. The discs ruptured above the building and exploded, aiding the destruction of the building. Pulling up at the last moment he stood there floating in the air, trying to calm himself enough to make use of some of his more passive abilities. This was a lot harder said than done however, considering the building just in front and below him seemed to crumbling to dust right in front of his eyes. He had no illusions that the General, someone he had seen pretty effortlessly launch an incredibly heavy metal object, could withstand a lot of pressure and damage, but the collapse of a building seemingly directly upon him gave the Fireen some doubts as to his ability to survive.

Still, Fury hadn’t survived this long by making quick assumptions. He gave the General the benefit of the doubt in this case, and using the gifts bestowed upon him by the Void itself he looked down at the rubble, his eyes highlighting points of unusual energy. It was only a matter of time before he saw the General, presuming he had survived, and in preparation for that moment another nasty looking ball of energy was forming in his right hand, which he held claw-like in front of his heart.

“Come on, give me a real fight.” He muttered to the air around him, peering at the building and surrounding area carefully for any sign of an unusual energy signature.

As he fell, General Freedom billowed out the ZPE around his body creating a bubble of blue energy around his muscular body. Hitting the ground with a tremendous crash, creating a small crater as the falling debris landed around the man known as Earth’s mightiest hero, had managed to twist enough so that he landed on his feet. Dropping to a knee, he weathered the detritus falling, grabbing a girder for stability, the man known as General Freedom grunted when the last of the heavy elements landed, however the large heavy cloud filled the air with lingering dust.

Leaping forward, General Freedom emerged from the cloud into a debris filled street, as he erupted into the hazy sunlight he spotted the alien above him. Still gripping the heavy girder in his right hand, he launched it as a spear at a dazzling speed at the floating man who was creating something with his own energies.

Even as the spear left his hand, General Freedom knew that the alien was capable of avoiding it if he wanted to, so the blue clad hero followed the spear upward by launching himself skyward in an explosive burst of speed and energy. The idea was that the alien might avoid the girder, but might be unable to avoid the rapidly rising missile known as General Freedom who was able to correct his flight to intercept the man.

Fury had been so intent on looking for energy signatures that when he found one he almost completely missed the flying projectile heading straight for him.

“Shi-“ he exclaimed, zipping to the left a short distance and shooting his right hand out, expelling his pent up energy in a messy blast that sent the steel girder bouncing away from him, though the weight of it turned his right side around as if he’d physically battered the powerfully thrown object out of his path.

His eyes had time to take in the hero, who was flying at a speed far faster than anything he was capable of, and it was in a glance that he realised there was no way of avoiding him. Resigned to the collision, Fury opened his hands wide like a bear about to crush some unlucky hunter, and blue energy zipped all around his body, preparing him for impact. It was unlikely that the hero could punch him considering the speed he was flying straight at him, though if a fist was extended Fury would manoeuvre around it as best he could and the results would likely be the same. The hero of earth collided with him, and when he did Fury’s hands crushed together, depending on if he had tried for a tackle or bear hug himself the results would be slightly different, but ultimately the force of the crash would sent them both flying up and backwards, higher into the air.

Steve grimaced as he realized the alien was not going to avoid the collision. Racing forward at such speeds, even with his ZPE shield wrapped around himself, depending on the muscularity and skeletal structure of the alien, this could hurt them both.

Slamming into the man, Steve tucked his head to the right of the man, trying to get his head under the Furian’s right arm while his shoulder slammed into the core of the alien.

What an impact, the immovable object meeting the irresistible force. The blow caused a shudder to race through General Freedom’s body as the two men collided and tumbled up and back, the speed that the blue clad hero impacted the Furian with had been blunted to less than the speed of sound, but still a significant speed of 550 miles per hour.

Steve knew he was in a bad position, if they were grounded he wouldn’t be so bad off, but as they were barreling skyward, he had no leverage to grapple the alien with any real success, however he also had the momentum on his side and he focused his eyes on the horizon.

The battle was now joined and both men seemed equal and capable fighters, however Steve knew his limitations, it was time to test the aliens and see what his may be.

Fury should have been at a disadvantage, as it became quickly apparent after the crushing impact of the two fighters that the human was in fact stronger and faster in the air. However, as they flew skywards and Fury wrestled for position, his right arm instinctively clenching around the General’s head trying to force its way around his neck and crush the life from him, the hero would learn to his doom that he had made one critical misjudgement. All the while they remained in close proximity energy was leaking from his super-powered body, flowing from every pore directly into the Fireen, as the void eagerly absorbed Freedom’s spirit like a leech.

It was only a matter of time until he tried to correct his mistake though, as Fury rightly knew, and he was only just regaining his breath as they flew upwards. Technically breathing wasn’t necessary for him, but the biological response to the heavy impact to his torso had still had significant effect. It was possible that a few ribs were fractured, minor injuries to the Fireen, but still worrisome. His grip tightened as much as possible, though now the momentum was driving his body round into uncontrolled backflips in the air. It would be quite a sight from the ground, energy shooting from their writhing forms as the heroes of each respective faction battled it out, perhaps with further reaching consequences than they knew.

Fury would cling to Freedom as long as he could, relying on his skill with his preferred style of fighting to overcome the strength barrier, though it was likely that once Freedom realised his predicament there would be little the Fireen could do to stop him from applying himself and muscling his way out. Time would tell.

The muscled alien clenched around the bull-like neck of General Freedom. Gritting his teeth the blue and white clad hero redoubled his own efforts at trying to lock his massive arms on the lower back of the alien.

As the two men careened through the air, General Freedom spotted through the chaotic twists the remains of a concrete parking garage. Clenching his arms and burrowing his shoulder into the man’s body trying to hold him steady as he burst forward trying to gain enough stability to ram the man into a pillar or two.

The alien was incredibly dense, almost as dense as General Freedom, that being the case with a grunt, the hero tipped them over and accelerated towards the towering concrete structure, aiming for some exposed structural pillars. It was a move designed to inflict as much damage as possible and allow General Freedom to break free of the burly arms of the man trying to choke the life from him.

If they hit, the impact would be devastating, since General Freedom planned to drive them through the remaining 6 stories of concrete and into the pavement on the ground floor. The impact would be damaging, the chance of being knocked out was great even for the star-spangled hero, but if it worked then both men would be hurting and with that a chance for General Freedom to gain an upper hand.

Whatever happened after they hit would remain to be seen, but they would be approaching speeds nearing 900 miles per hour upon impact. Not his fastest but in the short space it would have to do.

Fury was unable to see their impending impact, but he had sensed that Freedom was attempting to re-direct them and there wasn’t a lot he could do about it. Still, he had the Hero by the neck now, and although the speed of them suggested he didn’t have much time to work with he could still take some quick precautions. Concentrating for a short moment an almost visible blue shield shimmered behind him, forming another protective layer to bolster that of the durability of his own body and armour.

Not a moment too soon for Fury his precautions saw almost immediate use. With a shattering impact the shield literally destroyed the outer layers of the building behind him, softening his collision and perhaps surprising the Hero as their momentum was swiftly cancelled out by the shield.

Fury was unwilling to be dragged through another collision such as that, and with their momentum destroyed by the impact with the pillar and the energy shield Fury had been able to manifest he had a few moments to do something. His feet touched down on the carpeted floor of the building’s empty interior, his arm still wrapped mightily around the Hero’s neck. If Freedom decided to take flight again Fury would have a hell of a job stopping him, but every second that passed was in the Fireen’s favour, energy leaked from the Hero through their contact.
