The year is 1944. The alien menace known as the Neuroi has swept across continental Europe, leaving almost everything from Ostmark to the Gallian coast a scorched wasteland.

Sitting across the water lies Britannia, considered the key foothold in the battle to see Europe freed from this grave threat.

There’s just one problem. The Neuroi are almost impervious to conventional weaponry, with anything less powerful than naval artillery often failing to even scratch their skins.

However, it was soon discovered that there was something that would be effective: Witches. Young girls born aloft by the magic they channel through the engines of devices known as “Striker Units” who had the ability to take on the Neuroi in the air, and even destroy them.

This discovery led to the formation of the Joint Fighter Wings; units of Witches drawn from across the world banded together to fight the Neuroi.

While the story of the 501st’s key role in the liberation of Gallia from their base in the Strait of Dover is probably the most well known, they are far from the only JFW in Britannia.

The Needles Battery, on the Isle of Wight. This old Victorian coastal defence fort now stands as the home of the 514th Joint Fighter Wing, tasked with defending the country against Neuroi incursions from the Hive sitting over Cherbourg and the Channel Islands.

So yeah, it’s my attempt at running a Strike Witches RP. However, given my inexperience at being a GM I’m going to be making this mostly a player-driven RP, at least outside of the combat.

So, is anyone interested?

Hmm... Well, I never got into Strike Witches. I've heard about it and watched one or two episodes, but it never quite caught my interest, but I learned enough about the setting for this RP to interest me.

Would there be a possibility for me to play ground crew/infantry or something? The idea of men and other proper soldiers being shown up by young girls would obliviously cause some tension between Witches and your regular soldier, and it wasn't something that was ever really shown in the anime. Plus, I always did like playing the 'underdog' character so to speak.

I'm a little bit sketchy about that.

In general (by which I mean with a grand total of maybe one exception) regular soldiers, sailors and airmen seem to have no problems working with Witches on the rare occasions that they're seen.

That's kind of my point. They're never really shown in-depth, and I'm sure that there are going to be at least a few issues that crop up from it. For example, the regular soldiers are pretty much nothing but cannon fodder. They can barely hurt the Neuroi with conventional weapons, so they're stuck simply holding the line until the cavalry can swoop in and save the day. No one likes feeling useless, particularly when their own lives are on the line, and I'm sure if you compared number of deaths between Witches and soldiers, you'd have a lot of dead soldiers compared to Witches. There's also the fact that Witches can be as young as 13 years old, so adults, who can't do anything but throw themselves at an invincible enemy, are being saved by children, which is probably a massive hit to a person's ego, and there are probably a number of other reasons for there to be issues, such as a Witch's perception of war, which is possibly more lighthearted than a regular soldier's seeing as how Witches suffer much less losses and, in general, have an actual chance of winning their engagements.

I mean, yea, they wouldn't have any issues working in tandem with Witches, after all, they're one of the few things that can kill a Neuroi, but I'm sure they'll have gripes and tension that they don't say to a Witch's face. After all, do you really wanna badtalk a girl who can carry around machineguns one-handed?

I understand if this isn't something you want to do, I simply want to know if this is something I could play.

The reason they're not really shown in depth is because the SOP seems to be "hold the line until Witches arrive, then get the hell out ASAP". In fact the casualty rate is reasonably low as a result.

And like I said before, in canon the relationship between Witches and conventional forces is overwhelmingly positive.

Well, I suppose I'll just chalk this one up to differing opinions then. I won't try to put too much effort into changing your mind, so I'll just leave this topic alone.
