Wyatt flinched as the bell rang, signifying the beginning of the year. Why did he have to go through this? He clutched the small poppet(voodoo doll) in his pocket, always keeping it on his person. The books were heavy as he lugged them down the hall to his locker. It was right next to the backdoor, which luckily that the building was so old, had no fire alarm on it. Spare papers from last year glided to the floor as he opened the locker and began to place his unneeded books inside. If these were the best years of his life, his life was going to suck. He sifted through his things before shutting his locker and heading to his first class, World History. He recognized a few of his past classmates, most of which he didn't remember their names. He knew that he should, but he was terrible with names. He pushed open the door of the classroom, arriving first. He sat in the back right corner, where he always sat if given the option. He waited for a few moments before standing up, leaving his stuff on his desk before returning to the hallway to try to find some of the other Gifted.

Joshua carried his backpack over one shoulder, walking along with a group of his friends. They were all describing their vacations, which all sounded like a blast. He had spent the summer overseas, in England. It had been a fairly enjoyable trip except the excessive amount of rain. There were a lot of cool people, but he was glad to be back home. He unlocked his locker, tossing his backback into the spotless locker. He had made sure to clean out his lock, as he didn't need any reminders of past classes. He smirked as he walked towards the World History classroom, waving to people as he passed.

Aisling was dropped off at the school and was told that she was to go to the main office while the driver took her belongings to her new home. She had the address tucked away in her purse/briefcase. She has a brand new extra special laptop inside that she was guarding. She walked to the office and was given a map, a class schedule as well as a book on school rules that looked ancient. She tucked it away as she glanced through the class schedule. She would need to get some books but where?
Suddenly a bell rang and she hurried off to the first class as she tried to read the map as she went. She finally found the room and sat down in a seat towards the back. She hated the seats in the back because most of those who sat in the back tended to be of the bad influence. Next time she would be here earlier for sure.

Phillip was in a terrible mood. Tracy could tell that even before they'd started talking. She walked over to him, and he scooted off to the side like he always did, in case of an unwanted hug. She could guess what was wrong, and it made it worse that the bell made him raise his long-fingered hands to his ears. It was louder to him.
"They should make school all year. Or summer all year. I don't care which," grumbled Phillip, adjusting his glasses.
"You'll get used to it," said Tracy. "And not everything's different. The number of calories in your lunches are the same. You still get to see me every day," she continued, as they trudged into World History and took their seats next to each other. "And boy do I wish I had grades like yours."
He slouched in his seat, scowling. "I miss my old schedule."
"I know."
Phillip let out one more loud, long sigh to vent his frustration. "Make sure no one touches me," he mumbled, adjusting his glasses again.

"Right...."
An alarm shatters the silence of the room. Resisting the urge to crush the damn thing Xander opts to smash the off button with enough force to crack the digital display. Its not that he hates school, quite the contrary. He does however hate the waking for class, not to mention it was after that wonderful time of not needing to wake till well after noon...
Not one to care about appearances he tossed on some clothes from his floordrobe, smelling to ensure that they where "clean" the lucky winners where a pair of track pants, a sporty stripe on them, and a rather tight fitting black long sleeve shirt. Breathing in his hand left Xander repulsed, he accepts the fact that he is going to need to freshen up a tad. And outside of that, he went about his morning per the norm, hating every second of it.
Arriving on campus was more of a burden than he would have liked. A sandal strap broke on his hike, Meaning he walking about bare foot...

A rather chatty pair beat him to the classroom. A nerd and his firebrand it would seem. He didn't catch most of the conversation but the dude seem to have issues with folks touching him....Weird. He didn't exactly look like the type that would have problems, with wandering hands. Finding a seat towards the wall, he made sure that he could rest his head comfortably before getting his early morning time killer.Zzzzzz

Lilith instinctively fingered her headphones as the bell rang. She sat with her ‘friends’, who were currently talking about some random guy they found ‘hot’. Originally, she liked spending time with them. They made up for Lilith’s coldness with warm, friendly personalities. Lately, though they had started talking about things she hated, and they had the nerve to call her Lili. She hated it.

She had spotted some other Gifted and gave a nod of acknowledgement to them. She looked back to her ‘friends’ and internally sighed. They were wearing pastel, skirts, shorts, and sparkly flip-flops. F*** my life. She had just thrown on whatever was clean. A black top with a gold Triforce on it, light blue jeans, and an electric blue hoodie with black sleeves. A far cry from the clothes next to her.

Lilith could hear them whispering, about how she’s such a loser and she shouldn’t be in their group. She didn’t pay them any mind. Getting up, she groaned. She hated her schedule. Goddamn World History first thing. Abandoning them and heading towards the classroom, she pulled her back pack up before it slipped off her shoulders. She quickly took a seat in the back, got out a pencil, eraser, and paper, and immediately started drawing.

Aisling noticed a girl who sat down next to her. She was getting ready to draw.
~Someone who draws can't be all that bad.......~ She thought to herself as she watched for a bit. She wondered then what kind of music the girl listened to and wished that she had bought an IPod and some music. She loved piano music and she worked hard to learn new pieces. When she sees her new guardian- which is all she could think of calling Ms. Galeyard- she would ask if she could continue taking piano lesson or not. It was her only refuge now that she didn't have her grandmother to talk to. And speaking of talking to someone, perhaps she should say hi to the girl next to her and get to know her a bit. Perhaps they could be friends....

"Hello and excuse me but I was admiring how well you draw. My name is Aisling. I am new to Haleton." she spoke as she watched her draw. The sun went behind some clouds and it was hard not to chase the clouds away. She loved sunshine alomost as much as she loved playing the piano.

Lilith started sketching out the basic shape of a phoenix hunched over, its wing curled around itself and starting to turn to ash. It would be so epic. She had done the basic outline and features, and was about to start the wings when she heard a voice say politely,

“Hello and excuse me but I was admiring how well you draw. My name is Aisling. I am new to Haleton." The sentence shook her out of the trance she was always in when she drew, and she looked up to see a girl long, red, slightly messy curly hair that framed her deep green eyes and freckled cheeks. She was slightly shorter than Lilith herself.

The words took a few seconds for Lilith, who was still recovering from her trance, to process. She offered the other girl a small smile. She seemed nice enough.

“Hi, Aisling, I’m Lilith. Thanks for the compliment; it means a lot to me. Haleton is a pretty cool town. I hope you enjoy it here.” Realizing she probably sounded like those creepy robotic hotel employees, she added. “Since you’re new, you can sit with me at lunch and I’ll introduce you to my friends.” Lilith hoped that she would. Then she’d have someone to talk to about actual important stuff, like art and music.

Wyatt entered the room again, sitting down next to his belongings. He gave a small wave to Lilith. Wyatt saw Joshua enter a few moments later. Josh have him a smile before taking a seat in te front of the class. The bell rung, signifying that students had a short period of time to get to their class. He pulled out his notebook and sat it on his desk, along with the poppet. It was about the size of his hand, so it was strange to those who didn't know him. He glanced around, wondering where the others were.

Tracy let out a long sigh and got out her notebook, whispering at Phillip that he should do the same.
"But I'm not going to take notes," he complained softly. "The teacher talks too fast."
"Pretend to take notes," hissed Tracy. "Like last year. Write gibberish, I don't care. Just look like you're going to be working." She leaned back tiredly when she was satisfied that Phillip had gotten the message. Sometimes she had to repeat things to him.
Phillip looked warily around the classroom, not keeping his eyes on anyone for more than a second; he certainly didn't want to risk making eye contact with anyone. It made him feel vulnerable. He looked back at his blank paper and started writing a recap of every major thing that happened on the Apollo 13 mission.

Aisling smiled happily when Lilith spoke '“Hi, Aisling, I’m Lilith. Thanks for the compliment; it means a lot to me. Haleton is a pretty cool town. It made her feel much better for it meant that she could make friends here. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad afterall!

"Thanks for the invite. I'd be happy to sit with you at lunch. I dan't draw very well but I do play the piano well enough. I hope to find a new piano teacher so I can continue my lessons. I even have my own piano. I hope that where I am staying at wil let me have it in the house. My grandmother is very ill and she sent me here for a while." Ailsling spoke warmly as she took out a recording flash drive which she turned on.

The ear-killing sound of the alarm forced Jacob out of his dream, the whiteness that was coloring his eyelids morphed into the warm beams of the sun that shone through his window. He let out a deep groan as he massaged his eyes with his hands, wishing so dearly that he didn’t have to get up this early. He truly hated school-mornings. Stumbling out of bed he quickly made it from his chilling room to the door a few meters away; his tiny bathroom. While his apartment wasn’t luxurious by any definitions of the word, there wasn’t anything better than getting the first wave of the hot water on his body in the morning. Using way longer in the shower than he was supposed to do, he got out and threw a pair of worn denim jeans and a green t-shirt on and made his way to the small kitchen where he grabbed a sandwich, threw another in his worn out school back - together with a green apple - and rushed out the door.
Looking at his watch he quickly realized that he was, once again, late for school.
“Crap…” he muttered before releasing a sigh. Looking around to make sure where he was he set off in a quick burst, quickly gaining speed as he sprinted towards the school-grounds - hoping that he wasn’t going to get into trouble with the teacher if he came too late.

It didn’t take him more than 5 minutes to reach the school-grounds - thank god for his apartment’s close proximity to the school! - and continued to dash through the now almost empty out areas of the school. As he reached the front door for the main building he checked his watch once again. He had made it. Barely, still 1 minute until the bell would notify the students of their next session trapped in the hellish prison called a ‘classroom’. Sighing once again, Jacob started to sprint once more, passing a few other students that were late as well and a few teachers - some of which would yell at him for running in the hallway. Finally he recognized the door to his classroom, as he burst through it he almost tore it off its hinges, and before it had slammed against the wall Jacob had scanned the room. He was lucky, he had barely made it: no teacher inside to punish him with some soul-killing task. Standing in the doorway, breathing heavily with sweat pouring down - hoping he wouldn't stink too much, he once again let out a huge sigh, running his right hand through his short hair as he let the relief flow out of him in that single whiff of air, before he started walking towards his seat - not giving much thought to the other students; he really didn’t know that many of them, even after all these years. Luckily for him his seat was placed at one of the windows, and as he laid his head down on his right arm, staring at the scenery painted on the window, he prepared himself to survive the next few hours of school.

Lilith noticed Wyatt, another of the Gifted, enter the classroom and wave. She nodded and smiled slightly in greeting, before switching her attention back to Aisling. The red-haired girl was smiling happily as she replied,

"Thanks for the invite. I'd be happy to sit with you at lunch. I can't draw very well but I do play the piano well enough. I hope to find a new piano teacher so I can continue my lessons. I even have my own piano. I hope that where I am staying at will let me have it in the house. My grandmother is very ill and she sent me here for a while."

“Oh. I’m sorry about your grandma. I think it’s cool you play piano, I love music. I think class is starting now, though, so I’ll talk to you later at lunch.” Lilith’s hands had gone into autopilot while she was talking, and the basic features of the phoenix were done. She began pouring detail into the wings, making sure to look obvious, an exaggerated rubbing of the eraser on the paper, and a sweep of the pencil that was too large to be words.

The teacher would come in and see Lilith drawing, but couldn’t do anything since class hadn’t started yet. Then, when it had started, they couldn’t take it away because she always hid it under a piece of paper. They couldn’t move things because that would be an invasion of privacy. They couldn’t accuse her because she was a masterful liar. This only infuriated them. She also got good grades, not a straight-A student, but not terrible either. She would draw every class they had sitting down, and Lilith reveled in it.

AIsling simply nodded as she opened her laptop and then booted up. She was not looking forward to class and saw that most used paper and pencil or pen for writting. She always used a laptop becaue it saved the trees from being used for paper and pencil. Her grandmother had taught her to be eco friendly and knew that while trees were renewal kind of resource too many factories did not replant as many trees as they took down. Also it took many years for trees to grow to maturity and be harvested, more than 10 or 15 years. That is the reason why she used a laptop to do her homework or classwork on. Besides the paper looked much better when printed out on paper if she had to use paper. Usually it took less paper as well.

Once the laptop was booted up, she opened the Microsoft Doc and put the date as well as the class at the top of the page. Now she was ready for class. She could have opened the internet but wasn't sure that she should. Back home Aisling used the thesaurus a lot. It was one of her favorite sites. She looked around at the other students while she waited for the class to begin.
