Within the very hour, the new year would be official…the thousandth year. Veronika observed the festivities down below from the balcony of the repaired theater, her nose scrunching up ever so slightly in undisguised disgust. Ironically, how human the majority of them below made her hate her own grade of human, Too Human. Bodies that moved like they actually danced, android and gynoid standing side by side talking about the grand event like they were going to actually be happy about this, holding and downing coloured—even flavoured beverage like they were humans. Mere imitations, everything down there.
Eyes scanning the crowd, she picked up a certain machine straight away by his movements. Too smooth for a human, Fennec may have been in his very caste for moving too well and keeping his AI distinctly under upgraded…and yet he was quite the attention grabber. Like back with the humans, back when he was less human, he could make even the most inexperienced look expert on the dance floor. Whether it had been a human who knew nothing of dance, or a gynoid who hadn’t wirelessly downloaded the dancing algorithms, he moved and moved them.
Enough distractions. Focusing back at the task at hand, it was only a few minutes before the final preparations. Like planned, the gynoid on the main stage activated the large holoscreen as the lights of the theater turned down to the darkness, and the life feed of the laboratory with the cryostasis equipment appeared. The scientific machines and lab technicians either didn’t look happy, or tried to look professional for the live feed. The beautiful, very human like gynoid on stage smile and gestured to the scene shown on the hologram, “In, like, a few minutes, our special guest will be waking up in the laboratory in the adjoining building~!” The crowd applauded at this, the gynoid continued in the valley girl accent, and Veronika was distinctly unhappy about all this.

On the other side of the same city, a holoscreen appeared in the middle of the street, giving a certain café the chance to take in the live event. Seeing the cryopod centered in the feed, the café had to wonder if the human would be sore from her rest in the same position for a thousand years…did she like coffee? Decafe? Or maybe she’d like tea or hot chocolate? This was…the first human in centuries, and very well the last.
