[OOC] Kingsmen - New Generation

The movie is completely worth the ticket price people. It is a wonderful melding of Austin Powers and Jason Borne. I just went and saw it, and like all new fanboys I now want to role play about it! This role play will take the world the movie/comic created, and does not require you to have seen the movie. The overall goal of this role play will be to have the team come together under a single banner to stop a world dominating plot by a evil villain. I will give you a short look at the plot.

Since its creation shortly after the end of World War 1 the Kingsmen have banded under the banner of protecting world peace. They are completely independent of country, creed, or kin other than those who have been tested in the fires of combat and espionage. The other rule is that each generation of Kingsmen is the only one. Because of how difficult it is to keep the Kingsmen a secret the knights are the only field agents. Instead of replacing as they fall during their service, and they always do, it is the duty of the final remaining Kingsmen to remove himself from the field and become the rank of Arthur who oversees the new knights.

Congratulations on making it into the most deadly job interview of your lives. Welcome to the first step towards becoming a Kingsman. Personality: Quiet, serious, and observant Tristam is the sterotype for the strong silent type. He makes friends, albeit very slowly as he watches everyone closely. He takes learning and education very seriously and tends to always try his best. However Tristam is also a very broken person inside and he is constantly battling himself and his demons but he does a spectacular job of not letting anyone else see, preferring to keep his pain inside the castle walls of his mind rather than spill them all out. His acting skills are second to none and he has a rare gift for being able to jump into a different persona.

History: Tristam was born a Harkwell, a rather prestigious family that was in line for a possible Viscount position within the British royalty. His father, Ryan Harkwell was a well respected special forces commander while his mother, Kaitlyn Harkwell was a equally respected and loved actress. Tristam had it all growing up not really ever wanting for anything, but something was just off, Trist preferred to be in the library reading instead of playing with the plentiful supply of toys or video games. He took a passion to martial arts and started Judo training at the age of 6 while the other boys of royalty used that time for play dates and excursions with their parents.

When Trist turned ten his world was thrown into a happiness sucking loop when his father and mother were killed in a plane crash over the Swiss Alps returning from a military conference there. Trist who had strained his relationship with both parents was absolutely devastated when he heard the news knowing that last thing he had said to each of them was that he hated them and to go to the stupid party. He entered a dark depression and started blaming himself for every little thing that happened to anyone he knew about.

He threw those emotions into his martial arts training and by the time he was 18 he had black belts in Tae Kwon Doe, Judo, Jiu-jitsu, Kung Fu, and Hapkido.

Extra: Excellent actor, superb possible prodigy in martial arts.

A recluse by nature, Oskar does not often associate with his peers. At social events he is withdrawn and quiet, although if approached by an acquaintance, he will open up considerably. Whilst he isn’t a malicious nor particularly cruel individual, Oskar has a tendency to adopt a patronising or cold demeanour because it is expected of him.

Very bright and astute, Oskar’s sense of humor tends to be dry and sardonic. He often takes the role of the “sidekick” in interpersonal relationships; it must be noted that he does not subconsciously yearn to be in the spotlight, but instead is comfortable in a supporting role. While Oskar is for the most part reserved, his temper is his biggest downfall. Anything can agitate him when he’s in a mood, and when it gets bad enough, he lashes out in violence that can do quite a number on the people around him. These ‘episodes’ are short-lived though, and he always feels guilty about it afterwards. He keeps mostly to himself, having few friends over the years.

Not one to open up right away, Oskar prefers to keep everyone at arms length until he has no other choice but to let them get close. He’s hard to like, much less to love but to those he considers friend, he’s the person you want at your side when times get rough.

History

Oskar grew up in Manchester, an only child to a wealthy businessman and his beautiful wife. The Blackbournes, as the main meat-packing magnate in the UK, were, and continue to be, one of the richest families in the continent. From the day he was born, Oskar seemed to have everything handed to him on a silver platter. To outsiders, his life was enviable. But behind closed doors, things were quite different.

Oskar’s parents were far too busy to deal with a child, and so tended to leave him in the care of a nanny. This detachment between parent and child, perhaps, was why Oskar’s unusual behaviour went undetected. He had found endless entertainment in toying with people, constantly lying in order to get what he wanted. People never seemed to like staying around Oskar for long; his carers had a curious habit of never lasting more than a month at a time. Shrugging it off as the unreliability of the working class, Oskar’s parents turned a blind eye to his various oddities.

Oskar had turned almost completely inward by the age of ten, spending more time with his books and the family pets than with other human beings. Like all children that didn’t quite fit in, Oskar had a lonely childhood. He blazed through the school curriculum all too quickly, driven to boredom and frustration by the lack of challenge that school presented. Oskar’s already chilly demeanour worsened, driving himself further into isolation by refusing to play nice - he’d never quite understood polite society, not even after all those years spent hopping from one elite boarding school to the next. But it was only a matter of time until he graduated, and the then 16 year-old Oskar enrolled in Oxford that same year. There, he threw himself into his coursework, desperate for something that would actually engage him. All that excess energy rushing through his veins needed somewhere to go, and Oskar soon discovered where that ‘somewhere’ was.

Apart from his studies in Engineering (he always finds machines to be better company than people), Oskar eventually found solace in the Pistol Club. There, he learnt the intricacies of various firearms - ranging from gallery rifles, to muzzle-loading pistols. Right from the start, Oskar showed an affinity for the sport. His innate focus lent him an uncanny skill in zoning in on his target, and he managed to win a regional competition just a few months into training.

• Oskar is asexual. The idea of two people sucking face just doesn’t seem all that appealing to him. ...It actually grosses him out a little.
• Oskar loves cats, he’s basically the male equivalent of a crazy cat lady. Much to the chagrin of the help, he has five furry felines wreaking havoc back home - it’s really the only sort of company he can stand.

Personality

First impressions are key, and Olivia will likely give off the wrong one. Mostly on purpose. Something about her screams guileless, and she has enough moments of genuine cluelessness that she could easily be written off as a ditz. Not that it's entirely off the mark. Olivia is naturally excitable and playful, and has a dangerous tendency to get swept up in the moment. She's prone to looking for trouble when in need of entertainment, and is flippant in the face of danger. Her loyalty is difficult to earn, but goes deep and far, so much so that it could be considered double-edged. She's willing to risk a lot for those that earned it, her own safety included.

It takes a while, but it should eventually be evident that she isn't all enthusiasm. With a brain wired for maths and tongue for sass, Olivia's simplemindedness belies a clever perfectionist, who has quips at the ready and thinks well on her feet. She also happens to be frustratingly stubborn and passionate, despite seeming carefree. The downside to being so driven is that she will never give up, even if you want her to. She takes failure hard, especially if her friends are among the casualties involved. The same drive prevents her from asking for help, even when she desperately needs it.

History

Born to a university maths professor and her one time teaching assistant, Olivia hasn't the most extraordinary of origins. She grew up into a simple household, neither lacking in resources nor swimming in luxury, in the middle of nowhere (better known as Haywards Heath). Her parents loved her, her friends adored her; it was all so painfully mundane, especially to a child itching for grand adventures. Every year on her birthday, she screws her eyes shut as she blow on her candle, desperately wishing for something, anything, exciting to happen, but nothing ever did.

Turned out her wishes had been piling up, and it took little over eight years for it to overflow. Her father, a decade younger than her mother, would realize belatedly that he had married and settled down a bit too soon. The commitment was too much for him, and so he strayed, once, twice, three times a week. His infidelity shouldn't have come as a surprise to her mother—he had been rather sloppy with the evidence—but it did, and surprise wasn't the only thing she felt. Suffice it to say, her mother didn't take it well. Hell hath no fury and all that. In a span of weeks, her wish did away with all the boring in her life: her mother was sent to jail for attempted assault; her father ran far, far away and never looked back; and as for her, she was taken to her uncle, a paranoid recluse who has lived through the adventures she yearned for.

Timothy Lockwood was a strange man, but Olivia learned to appreciate it. There was never a dull day with someone like him. He never talked about himself, but he did share a couple of things with her. First, someone was after him. There was a reason he kept to his home and never entertained guests until she had rudely barged in his life. Second, he was a cryptologist and he was hell-bent on teaching her what he knows. Olivia would find a practical application of this in hacking, two years into lessons. Third, he was preparing her for something. She didn't know what it was or when it was supposed to happen, but she knew it was coming. He insisted she stay fit, which she did through her continued ballet lessons, and stressed the importance of playing dumb. It's the best defense for someone like her, he'd said.

Olivia was mostly unsurprised when she woke up one day and found him gone.

• Alternates between singing Disney songs and pop songs when she's concentrating on something.
• Likes to Robin Hood people she doesn't like—mostly celebrities or government officials that annoy her—by hacking into their accounts and donating a fair sum to a charity.
