The next morning, Liam got up early to go do some last minute training.

Shiranui did the same. The only clue to his party was the Aegislash on his back.

While doing his training, Liam heard footsteps approach. It was getting close to time for Liam to go to battle. He hastily recalled his Pokémon and turned around to see Ash standing there with his friends. They briefly talked. Ash noted that he didn't know what he would do next. So he like would be heading home after Serena is done with the Pokémon Showcases. Prof Oak had also arrived. He was looking for Liam to see why he hadn't come back yet. A metallic arm reached down to grab Pikachu off of Ash's head. Seeing it, Liam quickly shoved Ash out of the way and got grabbed in it instead. The arm retracted yanking Liam into the air.
"We missed." shrieked a female voice.
"I'll try again." said a male voice. Another pair of arms reached down and nabbed both Pikachu and Dedenee. Team Rocket then went on with their motto. They then made some clever remark about thanking Ash for Pikachu. They also said that by capturing such a power trainer as the 'other twerp' the boss would surely promote them.
"No you don't." Ash said as he readied a Pokéball.
"Not so fast!" Meowth cut in. he pressed a button on his control pad. A vacuum turned on and sucked up all of the Pokéballs belong to Oak, as well as Ash and co. They then cheered.
Meowth pressed another button on the control pad and jet engines attached to the Meowth Baloon ignited rocketing off in the opposite direction of the stadium.

Shiranui saw the Meowth Balloon and sent Honoh out. After mounting the Talonflame, the duo took off in pursuit of the balloon. The combination of Honoh's Gale Wings ability and the Tailwind move allowed the Talonflame to catch up. "Yoto, slice those arms with Sacred Sword!" The Aegislash drew itself out from Shiranui's back, changed to his Blade Forme and sliced the arms off. "Honoh, rescue the hostages with Quick Attack!" The Talonflame swooped down and rescued Liam, Pikachu and Dedenne. "Yoto, pop that balloon with Shadow Sneak!" The airborne Aegislash phased out of sight and a moment later, several rips, tears and slices appeared on the balloon, sending it falling. Yoto phased onto Shiranui's back as Honoh landed.

Liam caught a case all of the balls were put in. "Thanks man." Liam said. When Honoh was closer to the ground, Liam leapt off and opened the case. He retrieved the balls that held his pokémon. The others came and retrieved theirs. Liam turned to Shiranui. "We should get back."

"We'll let Ash and company deal with Team Rocket," replied Shiranui as Pikachu and Dedenne both leaped out of Shiranui's arms and ran off to their trainers, "Honoh here can get us back to the stadium lickety-split."

Gorgiest and Inkay emerged and began to attack.
"Dragonite! Hyper Beam!" Prof Oak called.
"Braixen! Fire Blast!" Serena called.
"Luxray! Thunderbolt!" Clemont called out
"Greninja! Hydro Pump!" Ash called.

Liam got back on Honoh to get to the stadium

"To the stadium!" Honoh nodded and took off with both Liam and Shiranui in tow. A short amount of time had passed before the Talonflame arrived and landed at the stadium.

Liam hurried to his spot as the timer had passed the 10 second mark. The audience had erupted into deafening applause.

Shiranui went over to his spot and quickly prepared himself for the battle.

The six slots for each trailer's Pokémon appeared on the screen. Liam readied one of his balls. "Good evening everyone and welcome to the Kalos League Finals!" The MC bellowed over the PA and to the audiences watching on TVs across the globe. "It has been a long a week filled with many battles, but we are now at the final match! In the red corner, we have the winner of the last Johto League Silver Conference, the newest Grand Duke at Kalos' own Battle Chateau, and the first champion of Johto's Dragon Cup! Hailing from Blackthorn City, It's Liam Coleman!" The audience erupted into applause. When it subsided, he introduced the other participant.

"In the green corner we have a winner of the Indigo League Conference, and the winner of last year's Whirl Cup. From Ecruteak City, it's Shiranui Tsukiko!" There was another eruption of applause. When it died down the MC explained this was a full six on six battle with no time limit. The official signaled for the two to start

"Vesuvius!" Liam called sending out Entei, much to the awe of the spectators.

"Diamanda, I choose you!" Shiranui sent out the legendary Diancie. A few squees were heard as the audience beheld the former ruler of the Diamond Domain.

"Diancie, the Jewel Pokémon. A sudden transformation of Carbink, its pink, glimmering body is said to be the loveliest sight in the whole world. It can instantly create many diamonds by compressing the carbon in the air between its hands."
"Interesting. Liam remarked.
"Bulldoze!" Liam called.

"Diamanda, Diamond Storm! Mega Ring activate!" Shiranui activated the keystone on his Mega Ring, causing an orb of energy to surround Diamanda. The orb shattered to reveal a Mega Diancie in all its radiance. Diamanda compressed the carbon in the surrounding air, causing a myriad of diamonds to appear. The diamonds flew towards Vesuvius as the Entei sent a tremor at Diamanda. The tremor struck home and Diamanda was slowed down as a result.

Vesuvius was hurt by the move. "So, it has Mega Evelution huh?" Liam thought. "Vesuvius, Iron Head!"

"Protect!" Diamanda conjured a crystalline green shield that repelled Vesuvius' attack.

"Roar!" Liam ordered.

Shiranui smirked as Diamanda's Magic Bounce ability reflected Vesuvius' Roar right back, scaring the Entei back into its ball instead.

Hydro the Blastoise was dragged out. Liam activated his Mega Ring and made Hydro Mega Evolve. "Water Pulse!"

"Diamanda, return; Numeru, I choose you!" Shiranui switched his Mega Diancie out and sent Numeru in to take Hydro's attack. The attack did not have much effect on the Goodra. "Numeru, Power Whip!" Numeru charged towards Hydro with her horns ready to deliver a whipping.
