In these times, they had called it the Black Age. This was due to the death of Black Beard, leader of the largest known pirate brigade. Despite them being pirates, they managed to maintain peace throughout Waterborne… However, that peace was based on a structure. A structure that easily broke upon the death of the top. With Black Beard’s death, his seven warlords began to fight each other over the rule.

This battle involved every corner of the sea, even those that seemed unreachable. For whatever reason, even the most unlikely of people have managed to get themselves mixed in the bloodshed. During the ensuing battle, six people wound up washed up on an island, each within walking distance of each other. Upon waking up, they would see each other. Not only that, but they would also see a wounded person wearing some significant silver armor with a moon crescent crest on the chest.

Totally fail my history check.

Pushing herself upright, the paladin made her way towards the injured person, paying little attention to the five relatively intact people that had washed up alongside her. If she had any say in the matter, they wouldn't be wounded for long.

With a grunt, the minotaur on the beach leaps to his feet, carefully surveying the area around him. Taking out a miniature brass trident from his pack, he kissed it.

"Yar, bless yer mercy, Poseidon, for I am safe on shore after a trying voyage."

With a stretch, he began making his way over to the armored woman. Thankfully, he remembered his journey with perfect clarity... up to the point he passed out. Hopefully someone had paper, a book, or a map.

"OI! I need a map. Or paper. Or something. Got to figure out where we are."

A bout of intense coughing and some spitting of salt water followed Selenis awakening on the island... her slender body curling into a tight position for a moment as she tried to get air to her lungs before she then laid on her back, blue eyes looking up at the sky in a light, uncomfortable daze "Uhhg... what a terrible battle... uhh... my back hurts..."

Rolling onto her belly and slowly making her way to a kneeling position she looks at a piece of driftwood at her side, the memories of what happened before slowly coming back "Ram them... he said... This girl can take it, he said... your kraken-spit, fourth rate, Reigan made, piece of spit, wood and rope ain't Strong Bertha you freaking short eared, son of a fat nobleman, imbecile hasty human!" Says the elven fencer in an increasingly angry tone of voice as she grabs hold of the piece of wood "Well guess what? She couldn't take it! She crumbled faster than fine pottery in a Minotaur revel dance!" she yells throwing the plank of wood away, taking deep breaths to try and calm herself as she unsteadily rises to her feet.

"Unng... my head is hurting worse than being hung over..." she complains, passing one hand through her face and then setting back her hair "Such a bad captain... he better not crawl out of the ocean or I'll be pushing him back in Poseidon's salt mines... a man like that deserves to sink with his ship"

Then, noticing that she isn't exactly alone at the moment... One hand moves to her belt where she can feel her weapons in place, which brings a sigh of relief to her lips and a little smile as she next checks her satchel to see it is indeed full with her belongings. When seeing the stupidity of her captain, Selenis had thought it wise to secure her possessions.

"Uh... hey there swimmers. Ain't it a lovely day to be stranded on an island. Say what, don't ask me what ship I was serving on and we won't have to run each other through with sharp things once we find out we don't like what the other says. Save hostilities for when we're picking who of us we'll have to eat first" she says with a grin and a disarming smile.

Then however, she noticed a particular member of the group of castaways moving towards an armored lady and a silver armored corpse to be "Oh boy, ain't this golden... I thought I had seen a familiar pair of horns coming through that screaming guys' chest in the battle... Angus "Big Bison" Longhorn! You haven't gotten yourself killed yet? Great to see you've been saving yourself for my blades in the arena" says Selenis taking a few steps in his direction... enough at least to get a good look at the wounded person in the armor.

Coughing up water Tzarvik opened his eyes as the sun burned as he opened his sand and salt covered eyes. Pushing himself to his feet he wipes his eyes with his hands. brushing the wet sand off his pants and picking up his pack he saw the others lying on the beach. His eyes catching the bright silver armor of the wounded person were the two other castaways gathered around. making his way through the sand as the hot sediment burned his bare feet.
"Oi! What in hell happened!"
The past days were a blur only remembering he and his crew previously raiding the ship carrying a boatload of porter and rum.He took a seat on the sand next to the wounded woman. looking over her armor impressed by the worksmanship of the piece.

Allegra healed the soldier as the wound closed up. The soldier slowly wakes up and sees Allegra. He gets up and coughs up some water. "Thank you! I'm grateful for your help, fellow Paladin..." He said. As the Minotaur got up and asked for questions, he checked his armor. He smiled as he pulled out a dry piece of paper and handed it to Angus. It was a map of the seas past the coasts of Zeist. While it showed the islands of Zeist, the Land of the Lost, and Minalibuscri, it also showed an island that no one would be familiar with in the far left corner of the map, far from all the other islands.

It is circled in red ink and text above the circle written in the same color: Krete.

"If I have sailed correctly... before I came across that war... We would be here." He points to Krete. He looks around. "Well, I think we might actually have found it... Krete!" He said. He turned behind him. The island was full of nothing but sand. Not even a single piece of shrubbery graced the ground of Krete. All that it had other than sand was a large stone wall with ten foot bronze door in front of it. "That's... odd..." The paladin said. "No plant life... or any life for that matter... just that building..." He noticed that the wall extends to a large building. They could see that the building was so long, it ran out of land and the building essentially hovered over the water.

Second history check is much better.

"Then if there is to be any hope of our leaving this island by some means other than swimming, it lies beyond yonder door," the black-armoured paladin stated, looking round the minotaur's arm at the map. Indeed, if the distances themselves were accurate, swimming would be a truly herculean task--hoping to leave would mean having to abandon any of your other equipment. There was also the possibility of sitting and waiting for someone from the nearby battles to sail this way, but Allegra was far from content to simply sit around and hope for the best.

Even though the island was apparently abandoned, she kept one hand on the hilt of her sword; the strangers were far from inherently trustworthy and an apparently floating building was a poor omen.

The young miko groaned quietly as they came around, with no real idea where they were, or indeed how they got there. All they did know was that there was a group of people clustered around another, who seemed to be expositing about their situation.

And yet, there was something incredibly ominous about the bronze door. Like there was something about it that said to stay as far away as possible.

"So... So we're going in?"

"Looks to be a member of the of the Preservation's crew! I bet his people would pay a pretty penny for his return." Tzarvik said standing over the Knight. Almost instantly his eyes were drawn to the bronze door as the young human mentioned it. Waltzing over to the door he began to inspect it for any sorts of markings or identification as to the makers of the door. "Gods Know what we are about to get ourselves into by going in here. He yelled to the group as he pondered over the door.
"Well lets have a listen." Tzarvik pressed his ear against the metal in attempt to hopefully hear if anything was moving within.

The paladin put his hand to the hilt. "Hah! Go ahead and try to hold me hostage, Dwarf! Thanks to my fellow paladin, I'm healed and at my prime condition. It'd be hell for you to try and overcome me..." He sighed and looked at the door. "Alas, I'm not gonna fight any of you right now. My mission... Well, it was my legion's mission to go explore the island of Krete... Unfortunately, when the big battle started, my group got caught in the crossfire. I'm the only survivor as far as I can tell." He said. He looks over to Allegra, who concludes that the only way off is going into the building.

"Aye. I think it might be a good idea to check if there's some way to get off the island in the building. Can't just be there for show, right?" As soon as he said that, Tzarvik pressed his ear at the door and it flung open. The door revealed a dark corridor, with the light from the sun shining in to reveal that the floor is metallic. Copper. "Well look at that!" He said.

"Does anyone have a torch?" the paladin asked, drawing her blade from its sheath and resolving to keep an eye on the dwarf--someone whose thoughts so quickly turned to ransom was an unreliable accomplice at best, and a traitor in waiting at worst.

"Aye, aye!" Goes Selenis, smiling again after pouting for a little while at how the minotaur gladiator seemed to be a bit too absorbed in his maps to even greet a fellow fighter of the arena.

Still, the elf was more than a bit interested in what lied before them... sure, the boat fight had been a fiasco and this island seemed quite unwilling to support the least bit of life. However now... ruins of bronze whose doors open on their own? Now THAT is adventure. And the young, daring elven duelist was all about that.

With a smile she fetched a torch from her pack and handed it to the human paladin, walking a bit closer to the portal... taking a good scent of the air within before taking a single step in. As an elf she could see even in total darkness... thus she peered inside, using her prodigious senses to try and catch anything else about the inside of this ruin "Well then... seems like just one direction to go on, right?"

Selenis and Allegra can see a bit further into the corridor, as they were closer to the entry. There's a room, about twenty feet by twenty feet, rather sparse save for a dusty cupboard and what looked like a scrap of paper on it.

Selenis being ever bold only turns back to say "It looks clear... at least the first room" before she moves carefully inside the place, letting her eyes adjust to the darkness and keeping close watch all around her as she approaches the scrap of paper to see if there's anything on it.

As she enters, Selenis could see two doors on opposite sides, one to the left, another to the right. There's writing on the piece of paper large enough for her to read from that far:

ABANDON ALL HOPE, YE WHO ENTER.

"Abandon all hope, ye who enter... Now ain't that reassuring. You all! There's two doors here, left and right. If anyone is following me in here, wanna split or will you follow me to the left?" asks Selenis putting her hands on her hips.

"I feel that the one in the lead should be the one more resilient against sudden injury," the paladin replied, not being entirely pleased with her torch-bearing duties: her sword needed two hands to wield, after all, and nobody seemed inclined to take the brand off her at the moment, "And I feel that splitting up would hardly be in our best interests."

With nothing other than altruism to hold the group together at this stage, there was no guarantee that if they split, the others would share the way off the island. Strength in numbers was a valid point, as well.

"Hmmm I seee... heh, then everyone do follow after my lead. I agree someone big and armored should take point... of the obvious group. However, there is some value in recognizance and subtlety... I can dip in shadows, run far ahead to see in the dark with my elven eyes and tell you what problems may be in the distance. Worry not, for I'll be sure to keep on my toes and keep eyes peeled for traps and the like" says Selenis, full of confidence as she usually is. Then again, she IS an incredible sneak... once she's down on the shadows it should be difficult for her to be seen.
