It all began sometime in the mid-2000s.

We donโ€™t know what the start of it was. Natural mutations in our DNA, some crazy science experiment, or straight up sorceryโ€ฆ doesnโ€™t matter. We stopped asking that question a long time ago. Earth, for a while, was home to both us normal humans, and beings who wereโ€ฆ different. More powerful. More dangerous. Youโ€™ve heard plenty enough about it already, surely. Folks with godlike powers, some who transform into beasts and the like. Itโ€™s easy to imagine, so letโ€™s not dwell on the details.

Now what do you think happened next? In the stories youโ€™ve read, the movies youโ€™ve seen, things always work out, donโ€™t they? Humans and mutants, supers, whatever you want to call them, always end up coexisting to an extent? That didnโ€™t happen here. You give a kid pyrokinesis and heโ€™ll always end up starting fires. As soon as it started, it became a problem. There were mass murders. There were entire cities brought to ruin. Whatever conflict there was between nations was quickly diverted towards handling โ€œthe nonhuman problemโ€. The most common enemy, you could say.

Now admittedly, a good number of nonhumans werenโ€™t the all-powerful monsters so described here. A lot of them were decent people just trying to live their lives normally, or even help with the situation. But the bad outweighed the good. The animosity was too prevalent. Things just kept going further and further downhill. Camps were set up to detain any and all confirmed and even potential nonhumans, from old folks to newborn kids. There was a joint effort between several technologically-focused companies to design a state-of-the-art system to keep track of them all. And that came in the form of a certain artificial intelligence. Weโ€™ll focus on her later.

Eventually, humans reached their limit. Despite their success in protecting their people and preserving their technologies, the planet was still being constantly ravaged by rogue parties of nonhumans, and even lone individuals who were powerful enough to take on armies. Earth, as far as they were concerned, was doomed. Every day, humans were being slaughtered and driven away from their homes the world over.

And so they left.

Operation Exodus. The epitome of spaceflight technology, ships designed and produced by every major company around the globe, all launched in a single day, carrying the tools to build the future of mankind. They brought as many humans off the planet as they could with plans of colonizing Mars, Europa, and if need be, further expansion to other areas of the solar system. The remainder of Earthโ€™s entire online connectivity and technological canon were either destroyed or shut down once they departed. Everything else was left to the nonhumans. Any normal folks who didnโ€™t make it to the ships in time either got killed, or did themselves in. Whatever the case, before long there were no humans left on planet Earth. It was all nonhumans the world over.

They didnโ€™t completely destroy the planet like many thought they would. But they certainly changed it. Lingering satellites showed the far-gone colonies what the nonhumans left on Earth were doing. They were still fighting amongst themselves for the worst reasons, leaving entire nations in ruin. But a lot left over ended up building their own societies, even constructing their own cities and technologies using their myriad powers. So in the end, it did work out for both sides. Humans managed to live on in the further reaches of the solar system, and nonhumans got to keep their playground.

It didnโ€™t last.

The year is now 2104. Eighteen years after Operation Exodus was launched. The nonhuman occupants of Earth have, to an extent, settled down. Their cities are still running and their numbers are slowly increasing. There are still many who roam the globe causing problems for the rest, but they get dealt with. Eventually, it settled into a routine. Until some humans decided to come back.

World Patriots. A splinter organization that was founded on Mars, shortly after the newly formed Systems Government began colonization. They started with the goal of one day returning to and retaking Earth, eradicating all nonhuman life. Saving the cradle of mankind, as they would put it. But they knew going up against the enemy themselves would be plain suicide. Thus, against the best wishes of SysGov, the World Patriots poured countless resources harvested from the colonies into constructing leagues upon leagues of proxy forces. Automated drones, tanks, mobile platforms, any line and model they had the designs for. Everything was gathered up into one massive fleet. A single command vessel, and several dozen foundry ships.

And they set a course for Earth.

SETTING AND INFORMATION

Down to brass tacks. For over eighteen years, Earth has been in the hands of superhumans. They have acted on both sides of the spectrum, using their myriad varieties of powers to either form their own communities, or destroy what remains. Folks both wander on their lonesome or in groups, or settle down somewhere. To put it plainly, itโ€™s wasteland rules. No more global establishments, no more internment camps, no more waning oppression from humankindโ€ฆ and no more Internet. Thatโ€™s a big one for a lot of folks.

One such example of a nonhuman effort to rebuild society is the city of Providence. Built on the ruins of Boston, Massachusetts, Providence is a sanctuary amidst the veritable wasteland that is now the United States. The buildings and city systems have all be reactivated and improved after the influence of a certain technopath came about, and with the help of one clairvoyant leader, Providence is now home to a plethora of nonhumans, all pitching in to protect and sustain their new home.

All that is now about to be disrupted with the arrival of the World Patriotsโ€™ fleet. A crew of a few thousand aboard one vessel, the Horizon of Reclamation, and several dozen automated foundry ships following alongside, where countless drone units, tanks, mobile platforms, and much more are all stored, until Operation Homecoming officially begins. Whatโ€™s more, many of the World Patriots involved are, in fact, experienced remote unit operators. Utilizing control stations first issued by the Systems Government to aid in colonization efforts, any World Patriot can take control of any active unit in one quick sequence. However, many operators donโ€™t settle for default units, and thus, they have designed their own.

Customs, as they were nicknamed. Units modified or built from scratch to better suit the preferences of each individual operator. With the advancements in technology booming long before Operation Exodus, it wasnโ€™t difficult to outfit them with weaponry and equipment capable of going up against many of the powers that nonhumans possess. Kinetic deflection shields, laser-based weaponry, synthetic healing fibers, all the good things. One Custom canโ€™t take on every kind of nonhuman, but they vary enough to be capable opponents when working together. The World Patriots plan on gradually deploying drone units from orbit and coordinating them from the Horizon of Reclamation. They donโ€™t plan on stopping until every last nonhuman on Earthโ€™s surface is good and dead.

So, itโ€™s your call who to fight for. Either as one of the drone operators for the World Patriots, or as a nonhuman down on Earth. Whichever you fight for, maybe even both, youโ€™ll have freedom of design for both powers and Customs.

The fight is on.

RULES AND CHARACTERS

First of all, please not that @Horrid, @Maxx, @UrbanEvolution, and @Mr Allen J are all my trusted co-GMs. Not enough room on the official roster for all of them. Just for clarification.

These are the game-specific rules you have to abide by, split between the World Patriots and nonhumans.
WORLD PATRIOTS

 • All World Patriots are normal humans. No exceptions.
 • There are no human survivors left on Earth. Plenty of malicious nonhumans were very thorough in their pursuit to kill every remainder of them. If you're human, you're a World Patriot, and you're on their ship.
 • World Patriots donโ€™t have one specific uniform style, but they are keen on the colors maroon, gray, black, and white.
 • All World Patriots live aboard the same vessel, the Horizon of Reclamation. They do not leave the ship under any circumstances, not even to board the unmanned foundry ships that hold all the proxy forces. Everything in the foundries is either automated or controlled from the main vessel.
 • Customs come in countless shapes, sizes, and forms. Humanoid, quadrupedal, flight-based, etcetera. They can be built from older or newer bases of technology; rough and segmented or sleek and shiny. The size limit is pretty substantial, but I am not allowing anything along the lines of this or this.

NONHUMANS

 • No reality benders. Period.
 • Understand that there is a difference between super powers and straight up magic. The ability to, say, make portals? That's fine, it's a mental projection thing. Very utilitarian. But spells and sigils and hexes and curses, whatever, simply don't belong here.
 • "Shadow powers" come in many iterations. The general consensus among myself and my co-GMs are that they are usually very unsavory, being that they have little to do with actual shadows. If a nonhuman can generate orbs of dark purple energy or radiate an aura of fear, that's not a shadow-based power. So, if you wanted to veer that way, heed these words.
 • Time control is just too meta. Heightened reflexes are one thing, but temporal manipulation is just asking to be shot down.
 • "Death manipulation" is right out.
 • "Blood manipulation" and mind control are both just really, really difficult powers to justify. Even if a character with such an ability is meant to be evil, they have a habit of causing problems for the whole of most games in the long run. So both are no-nos.

And here's your character sheet. Once you fill it out, send it to me in a private message for approval.
NAME:
AGE:
GENDER:

APPEARANCE: (Picture and/or description are all fine.)

PERSONALITY: (Optional, if youโ€™d rather develop it through your writing.)

POWER(S)/CUSTOM(S): (Not asking for severe limitations/weaknesses but be wary of how you word this section.)

HISTORY: (Also optional, if you want to keep it a secret or gradually reveal it.)

OTHER: (Once again, optional.)
And that's everything. Any further questions on topics I didn't cover, feel free to ask me about them.

SO I'm planning at least one more major Coroner. There will be a few NPC ones too, but their powers will be useless against machines, so they'll die quickly (a blood manipulator and a disease manipulator). I'm not writing a whole sheet for a one-post cameo.

We can pretty much nix biological warfare as a usable tactic completely.
