Lord Coake The Man Who Sold the World

Member Seen 8 yrs ago

Athas, a harsh desert world, ravaged by the damaging magic of the arcane Defilers, who now rule as the Sorcerer-Monarchs. Few natural lands remain, such as the Forest Ridge or the Last Sea, with much of the land having been turned into a barren wasteland. You and others like you have heard rumors of a subterranean land, filled with such things as clean water, and living nature, with the entrance hidden somewhere in the Tablelands. You have joined forces with a band of others, to search for this hidden world, and secure its resources, whether it be for the greater good, or your own personal gain.

So this is my 3.5e Dark Sun campaign. Rulebooks for running and playing Dark Sun in the 3.5e system can be found here. Sheets are to be made using the generator found at myth-weavers.com. Classes and Races from most aspects of 3.5e will be allowed, though anything outside the Dark Sun books will have to be approved on the basis of matching the theme of the setting. For rolls, I will have you either post your bonuses in the post in which you make your check, and use a diceroller to tell you if you've succeeded or failed, or have you roll yourself, and post the final total to determine success or failure. Character creation is ECL 3 start, use a 40 point buy system for stats. If you have any questions, feel free to post them here!

I was thinking some variant of Dwarven Monk, or maybe a Pterran Totemist (from Magic of Incarnum).

That or a Human Necropolitan Gladiator, cursed by a Defiler to forever wander the earth for losing a fight he had a lot of money riding on.

Welcome to Athas. It's kind of a shithole. In other news, the ocean is wet, the surface of the sun is slightly warm this time of year, and Godzilla's above the average height for a Japanese citizen.

Never played this setting before but I'm definitely interested. I'm thinking about making a sorcerer.

EDIT:

Just looked through the DS 3 handbook and sorcerer wasn't listed as a class option. Is it alright to proceed?

@Izaka SazakaSorcerer would need some refluffing to work. The draconic heritage doesn't work here, due to the lack of dragons. You'd also be under the effects of the Preserving vs. Defiling magic that Wizards have to choose from.

Having heard no objections, I'm going with the Necropolitan. The idea being he was created as an undead for gladiatorial combat that got the hell out of dodge.

Necropolitan Psyrogue it is!

Edit: thinking about it, an undead with no way to heal is a bad idea. I'll think of something later.

Understood. I'll begin figuring out how to make this work lore-wise.

So the best healing options seem to be Black Sand, Troll-Blooded, or being a Dread Necromancer.

Due to my lack of familiarity with the setting I've probably botched up something so just let me know what it is (if it exists) so I can correct it.

@Izaka SazakaThe only issues are that the dagger won't be made of metal, and that money is actually different types of ceramic coins, due to the lack of metal on Athas.
