"Shroomish are one of the easiest Pokémon to catch and they could be a nightmare to fight after they evolve," Shiranui replied to Lance's comment. He saw Liam catch a Treecko. "Great catch, Liam," he praised.

"Thanks" Liam replied. He put the ball on his belt and heard hurried footsteps approach. A bald man appeared from the bushes asking if the heroes had seen a man in a sailor suit carrying a Wingull.
"I haven't." Liam replied.

"Neither have I," answered Shiranui.

The man was looking worried. Liam called out Pidgey to search from the skies.

Lance called out taillow to assist.

Pudgy found them and circled back to get the trainers.

"Looks like they found him," stated Shiranui.

Pudgy led the heroes to the culprit.
"Release the Wingull now." Liam ordered. The man in the sailor suit scoffed as he sent out a Poochyena. Liam used Mudkip and made quick work of the man. The Wingull took advantage of the man's surprise and jabbed his arm with its break, getting free. The Man told Liam that he'd regret messing with Team Aqua and ran off.

"Looks like we just had a run-in with the local crime gang," Shiranui remarked with not a shred of fear in his voice.

"Do you have an idea of who they are" Lance asked

[James Davy]

"Like the other Teams Liam and I have faced, Team Aqua would probably use Pokémon for nefarious ends including going after legendary Pokémon," answered Shiranui, "Our research points to two most likely targets and with a name like Team Aqua, they're probably looking to use Kyogre's power. If you run into any more criminals, don't tell them what we know."

"No problem" lance said accepting this new information.

The man approached and called out "Peeko!" The Wingull flew into the man's arms as he hugged it. He thanked the heroes and introduced himself as Mr. Briney. He told them that he had a boat and he takes people to Dewford and a beach next to Mauvile. Liam said that they had to go to Rustborro for a badge and a contest, but then they would need to go to Dewford.

"Don't worry, we'll be back," added Shiranui.

"No problem" Lance said scratching his head, Taillow perched down on his shoulder.

Soon enough, the heroes exited the woods. "It's only a short walk to Rustborro now." Liam said looking at a map.

[James Davy]

"The Rustboro Gym is a Rock-type gym," stated Shiranui, "A fairly typical type for the first gym in a region."

Lance remembered that rock type were weak against grass, water, ice, and ground type pokemon. "Treecko is fairly strong so I should be fine"

"Yup, and I should be in good shape myself." Liam commented. "Should we head over to the gym now?"

"Why not" lance said it was his first gym battle but he felt prepared to fight. He had been studying strategies and training his Pokemon efficiently.
