If you're not trying to romance the Pokemon, what's the fucking point?

Can't help but read 'woah' as a regular 'wuh', but 'whoa' as a deep, masculine 'HOO-AH!'

That's patently untrue. I planted some potassium the other day, and no matter how much I watered it, all I got was explosions.

IVIasterJay said Sorry AT, but if it's any consolation, Xir'ain is a whole lot of fun to write.

No one has had to wait too long for their blueprints to be done so far, but we've only gotten up to five posts, which is easy enough to hit just by waiting for the others to post. If it does begin to slow your keeper down, just post for something other then your keeper while you wait. Constructs are perfect for perspective shifts, and if you don't have one of those just use a common minion.

Cyclone said I recall in a previous DK roleplay that I got a level 7 creature and 5 constructs, and I'm pretty sure somebody else made it to level 8 creatures and 6 constructs. I don't even remember the 40+ post waits, so I doubt it was that bad.

Ah shoot, disease was going to be a part of my rogue being as well. Well, I guess I'll let you have that theme and just tweak my guy a little bit. My planned backstory was that he created a plague for humans but stirred the cauldron too much and accidentally got some in one of his eyes. That withered and corrupted eye can melt the flesh off of anything it stares at.

I guess I could just be more vague and say that he was conjured up a curse. Actually, that works perfectly.

Alright, that clears things up. Looks like I've been misreading the post wait idea, I thought it would involve the players own posts, which didn't make much sense. Thanks.

I haven't really planned anything yet for a Construct. So far I like the idea of flying around by night in the form of a demon moth, spreading suffering and sickness wherever the dust falls from my decaying wings (don't we all). Just roaming around and making life worse for everyone I come across, basically. Your idea seems more thought out, so feel free to make that first in whatever way you like and I'll find another niche.

As for a Keeper, though, I'm thinking of a general 'cleric'-type race, that heals, repairs or enervates the other Keeper armies/dungeons on a massive scale, or at least those it finds favour with. Aquatic things are still fun, so I might go for a coral reef dungeon, with delicate floating jellyfish minions. While I'm at it, my Keeper could also convince humans to become their servants by healing and soothing their pain to appear as a benevolent god-figure (to the humans they like, again. The rest can get eaten by ogres). Whatever I do, though, I'm going to think through my character ideas a while longer before I hop in.

E: An idea for the construct. Perhaps in the former realm, the ones the first Keepers destroyed, there was a construct (or similar being) that attempted to bring peace by supporting the human effort as a healing force (like my prototype Keeper), taking the form of a sacred butterfly. The old Keeper that defeated the construct hated the butterfly, and decided to refrain from destroying it completely in favour of sending it into the new dimension in a demented moth form of its old body. The new body, which the healer could not control but was imprisoned within, would feel nothing but malice and hatred for all life and would unknowingly torment the old soul within by going against everything the butterfly had believed in. Or something like that. Still thinking about all of this. We obviously already have an insect faction, for one, but the general idea could still work with different aesthetics.
This interests me considerably... I wonder if I could make a blind aquatic Keeper whose powers revolve around sensory enhancement/reduction and lives in the deep dark ocean with demented lamprey serven-

IVIasterJay said Ooh, such a great first OOC post. If we're doing dibs, I'm thinking about a fluid darkness theme, like with black oil / ink / dark water. And eels. A terrifying army of evil eels.

~Excessive profanity~

Anyway, early idea formulation aside, I'd love to join this but I'm a bit worried that the amount of posts it takes to develop a new species could slow the course of events down unnecessarily. How's the idea been working so far? What have players been doing while blueprinting their minions?

I'm definitely playing a Rogue Construct at least, though. Hopefully something that spreads disease, sort of an embodiment of the real influence of disease in wars and civilisations and stuff.

...we have wagons now?Seriously though; I've NEVER played the PMD series, so I'm not exactly sure if they're present or not.

If they have buildings and roads and tunnels, I doubt a simple practical wagon is not beyond them. Although I think a cart might be a better noun. Oh well.
That is who he chose. The Guild, its levels far from towering but by no means small, was the most visible structure of the town. To none more so than Kiera Shannon, whose lofty gaze stared far over most of Allure's residents and even some of its buildings. The Aurorus had wisdom enough to know that the building would become even more distinct in her vision now that her youngest son had chosen to make it his home. For a few seconds she simply stood in the sun, the wagon and masonry forgotten, attempting to divine the future. Yes, perhaps he may have chosen a teacher less worthy. Or a goal less noble. That's not why I am discontent. The wagon lurched, and Kiera was on her way again.

Some measure of her discomfort was that of any parent watching her child moving away. She had seen the process happen four times already in her other sons, but Carrol was not the same. Carrol had started earlier, taking his time, using others as steps, from Kiera and Aiden to Aloais to Arnold. His father passed on not long after Carrol began catching the interest of Alaois, and Kiera had been too passive to take him further on her own. Alaois let himself die after Etna's tragedy. Now Arnold would become the new master/obsession, but Kiera did not know Arnold beyond hearsay. Knowing that she had no real power over Carrol's destiny anymore was deeply unsettling.

Then there was the question of whether Carrol would ever find his final stepping stone. The Shannon's assumption had been that Carrol would start behaving like a leader once he matured and Alaois passed on, but now, evil seeds of doubt had sprouted in Kiera. The elder's death had interrupted his development, of course, but he had made no sign of moving on by himself... Or wanting to. Perhaps they had been wrong about his abilities, and Carrol would refuse to ever move out of the shadow of others. Kiera had no response to that idea.

He'll find his way. The mother tried to feel the warmth of the day, the joy of community, but thoughts are not always comforting. Oh, Carrol. Find the right way. Please. Singing a quiet hymn to Articuno, Kiera continued to the build site praying for guidance.

Carrol Shannon had never winced from, nor had he ever reveled in sunlight. The sun was where Pokémon worked, played, argued, where the rituals of interaction were strongest. In a settlement like this, sunlight was a way of life. Shannon's experience did not tell him he had a love for it.

Carrol didn't tire on the road from the Shannon's home on the outskirts. Allure was not large enough for that yet, and Shannon was grateful. To approach with much poise and energy was the idea. Shannon did not pause and collect himself before he tapped on the guild's entrance with his forehead; There had been time enough for that earlier. "You said to come a later time." He held his head high, his voice even. "The sun is up and others left already. I shan't delay much longer." The door swung, and Shannon nodded, moving inside. The guild's interior, on this floor at least, was bustling. Bands of Explorers, some rather curiously composed, milled about what looked like glorified notice boards. Badges glinted and conversation was engaged. An active environment, yes, though likely not the final destination for a newcomer.

"Wait right here, uh... Shannon. With luck you'll get a chance to check the place out soon enough." Shannon nodded, looking around keenly nevertheless. The guild's levels were divided by a stairway, to his relief. To hear that Wally's guild relied on a ladder had not been pleasing to the Amaura. His awareness remained keen until Shannon's mind finally projected an image of Arnold, be the Audino intimidating, welcoming, or authoritative, onto the steps, coming to inspect the newbie. The reality of the impending meeting intensified his anticipation. Soon. Yes. Shannon was silent, expecting to be impressed.
Gentlemen.

I'll post today, hopefully in the next few hours.

E: Large amount of character exposition that would've done better in the character sheet, middling amount of mediocre roleplaying, dash of iambic rhythm and we're done. Arnold or Archie can meet Shannon now and do whatever it is the new meat needs done to them. I left Archie out deliberately because Shannon is so attached to the idea of Arnold showing up; Archie turning up instead would probably be more appropriate/anticlimatic. Anyway, in my mind the best option now is probably to just tell me what they told/gave/did to Shannon and then timeskip to him trying to catch up with a gang, but do whatever.

KaBling said Eh... I'm finding a problem with the app. I don't really think there's a gate at Arnold's guild. You know, I expected normal, wide wooden doors with plain walls and floors. Plus, I think only Arnold and Archie can accept members (as in, there seems to be something off about their tone of speech in your character's biography).

Recap:

I honestly didn't read through the IC to look for that kind of detail, so sure, I'll catch that (it comes to roughly the same thing, anyway- 'Let me in pls, I want join'). The 'watchman' unnamed was just meant to be someone at the door/gate/pentagram hellportal to prevent intruders and/or answer help requests, because that makes sense. The italicized section is drama for drama's sake, because it doesn't contribute to Shannon's actual history (cliche as that is) I don't mind fixing it up.

Anyway, thanks, recap is handy. I'll be able to post tonight, although I think I might have shot myself in the foot a bit with join time, because I'll be gone again over Friday and Saturday.

E: Alright, I rewrote the italicized part of the application. Hopefully it's not worse now.

I'm not sure which guild/town to join, since I presume both have about equal players involved, so I'll just stick with the arbitrary choice I made to go with Arnold's. Anyway, it looks like it's still morning, so a post now would probably move a bit like this: Italicized-application-drama happened, Shannon was turned away with instructions to come back after sunrise, roleplay him arriving, then being taken to do newbie stuff (cult initiation) with Arnold for the next two/three RL days while I'm gone, then next post being sent to catch up with what the rest of Arnold's group is doing. This good?

E: Considering the time gap, I don't think it's worth starting then leaving again for the weekend immediately. See you all on Sunday.
