Compaq I agree is cheap, HP's are generally fairly good so long as you don't buy the base models. I exclusively buy HPs and they last me years without problems. I would never ever consider buying an Acer though, Asus however I recommend. In the end, you get what you pay for with computers, so naturally something like an Alienware is going to be far superior. I also don't like Macs but I rely on my computer being able to do AutoCAD which Macs aren't the best suited for. If I was doing Audio and Visual media then I'd get a Mac.

I only recommend acers because when I was working at a computer shop, the computers I saw the least of were Acer, Dell, Toshiba. HPs and Compaqs though.... dear god did I see a crapton of those. and unlike a toshiba, those suckers have like 6 different types of screws, while a toshiba has 2.

Laptops... maybe, since uniform parts aren't commonplace with laptops yet. Desktops though, alienwares are just too overpriced. I can make you one better for 1/3rd the cost.

Just don't get an hp or compaq, any other is fine. It might work fine, but its not very well made is all I'm saying. good luck breaking a toshiba without a hammer, but HPs? they break easy.

If you get a new laptop, DO NOT get an HP or Compaq. They might be cheap, but they SUUUUUUUUUCK. Spend the extra 50 on a nice toshiba, dell, or Acer.

The reason they suck is the north bridge is defective, and it'll become deattached from the board after awhile. Only way to fix that is to reflow the board or get a new computer.

btw, I love taking apart Toshibas, unless they have a spiders nest in them.... yeesh.

Oh, from the sound of things I'd actually have to be there to take it apart and all that fun stuff then. Can you at least take the hard drive out?

And anything can be fixed, depending on how much you wanna spend to get it fixed. lol.

Its going to be a bit before I can post a finished hd model without textures. Ends up I need to make her cloths myself out of planes, and that takes awhile. Hoping to have a presentable model done by the end of the day though.
