Current I have finished THREE projects in the last two weeks. Where did all this motivation come from? The light bill.

I feel so accomplished! Just set the bar for largest custom crochet project I've taken since I began crocheting for profit 3 years ago. They didn't even bat an eye at my quote!!

Bio

I'm an almost-30-year old yarn artist. Mother of two sweet daughters. Wife of an amazing Hubs who basically lets me do whatever I want.

I crochet little things like the owl in my thumbnail, and big things too like four foot long bears with heart shaped feet. ^-^

I do commissions for crochet, just send me a pic or an idea and I will make it work.

Jester whinnied in protest as Derra removed her from the stall. "Ca'mon ye mutt. Let's go. The kiddies will be by when we come back to bring you your snacks."

She was getting used to the way she was treated here, being the only pony a lot of the children came to play with her during the day. Derra didn't mind this, as it gave the pony something to do and the children something to keep their minds off of the recent tragedy. The little red pony was as sweet with children as she was vicious in protecting her rider, and she loved treats. She had noticed there were fewer and fewer children in town as the days wore on, many families were escaping the city and moving to places that were more inland and less accessible.

"Ho there, leaving so soon miss Derra?" this from the stable master, a tall man built for riding horses. "I thought you were to stay a while?"

"Not leaving for good yet, but things have changed. The healers no longer have a place for me, so I am finding a new way to acheive my clan's goal." Derra said. She looked up at the man over Jester's saddle -barely.

"Well good luck to you then. Don't see why the healers have no use for you, war's comin' and they'll need all they can get." the man nodded at her with an understanding smile and walked away.

It would help if those in power looked at me with the same attitude as a humble stable master. Derra thought as she climbed into Jester's saddle. She was used to being treated as if she was still contagious by those in higher stations, especially healers. They were afraid of the pox she had had as a child, as it was deadly and spared almost no one.

She trotted Jester out of the stable and began plotting her search route, looking for any sign of the woman from the guild board. She headed in the general direction of the docks, thinking that she was likely getting supplies. With any luck she would find her quickly and have an idea what her next move would be.
@Lucius Cypher Lol, well it's a good thing Derra knows how to fix people.
I'll get a post in in a few hours. Got stuffs to do round the house. Sylina has a day job, and it's taking care of two kids, lol.
Sorry guys, I'm not up for a post tonight. My brain is fried after a loong couple of days. I will make a post tomorrow though ^^
Thanks I'll edit. Dunno how I missed that.

I'm gonna be out the rest of tonight and probably a lot of tomorrow, just a heads up.
Derra was lost. Not physically, she knew where she was in the town. She was lost mentally. The healers had welcomed her at first, but once the steady flow of injured had stopped it seemed they had no use for- or interest in- a dwarf marked by pox. The man who had released her was kind, but firm in his suggestion that she find a place more welcoming to her.

'At least I learned a few things while I was there.' she thought to herself as she shifted her weight on the bench. She had seated herself on this bench outside the Guild to decide where she would take herself. There were a few people perusing the board looking for work, a few had taken their papers and trotted off, presumably to find compatriots to do the work with them. 'All this bustle... what I would give to be home around the smell of the forges and the mountain air.'

She hadn't been this homesick on her journey here. She was tasked with staying among the humans for two years to meet and learn from the healers. Now that the healer they had sent her to didn't want her she knew she had to find another place for herself. Returning so soon was not an option, and besides if there was war Derra would find a place she was needed. Healers, even pockmarked healers, were always needed.

She stood from her place and made her way towards the Inn, wanting to gather her things and get her little mountain pony from the stable. 'I'll find that woman who took the guild posting. Maybe she and her people will need a healer.'

For the first time she realized she had many more options than she had originally thought when the healer had told her to leave.
Works for me. It'll be a challenge for me to play a bad guy who believes she's doing good.
The land of Theros is large, covered mostly in forests and mountains. It is home to the magical creatures and races, and the human clans who do not tolerate violence. Recently, there have been sightings of strange deformed creatures attacking villages and travellers, though where they originate no one is sure.

The Gryphons have guarded Theros for centuries, partnered with and cared for by the various bipedal races they protect. Now, as a new threat seems to rise, they have begun sending out more scouts, generally in groups of four- two gryphons with their bi-pedal partners.

The humans who live there are peaceful, the gryphons don't tolerate violence for violences sake. But they themselves can be extremely dangerous when they are protecting themselves or the border.

Also, you aren't paired with them like some magical bond between dragon and rider in an Eragon-esque novel.

The way it will go is you have trained for years in gryphonic care and fighting in order to be paired with a gryphon scout. Your bi ped is essentially a veterinarian with some fighting skill in case you get in a pickle.

The Gryphons are sentient, most of them have magic of either mind or node power, and they are autonomous. They're basically held above the other races because they are benevolent protectors by their own choice. Every race is treated equally, but Gryphons are almost revered by the populace as a whole. An outsider who harms a Gryphon would be considered an enemy of every law abiding citizen.

In the pairs the Gryphons fly, scout, and fight if need be. The biped takes care of the Gryphon's needs and does things like set up camp and cook food etc. They should be well versed in hand to hand combat and probably a bow or short sword, but they are not typically going to be the main fighter. Def not skilled enough to take out more than one or two dumb mercs or monsters alone in melee.

I'm heavily influenced by Mercedes Lackey, if you know of her. So in my mind there are two kinds of magic- mind magic and ley line or node magic. Mind magic can be any number of things that rely on power within the mind (mind speaking, firestarting, fetching etc). Mages rely on nodes of power within the physical realm. Bad dudes tend to use death and torture to feed their nodes, while good guys generally use what is available naturally.

For the races I typically don't have a limited set, although certain things like demons/angels/orcs don't really fit.

I will work on a more detailed opening post, but I'm looking for at least one other person, possibly more depending on interest. You'll have two characters, your gryphon and your bi-ped. I do not have a hard plot progression, I would like to just allow it to develope on it's own, and I welcome ideas. :)
@Eviledd1984 Sorry I kinda jumped you. I'll bring him in in my next post. ^^

I'm not sure how y'all do your rotation, but I have a post ready so long as I'm not stopping anyone else?
@Ladypug Thanks! She's actually a revised version of a DnD character I recently had to stop using because I left the group. She was a druid, so I figure a medic type fits her well. I love her, she's been living in my head for about 6 weeks. Super glad I found a place to build her story cause I was super disappointed when drama in the group prevented me from continuing.
