But just because it's located in Japan doesn't mean you can only use 'their' mythical creatures.
Go with what you and everyone else will easily understand.
Nothing worse than putting in something complicated and having to try repetitively explain it.
Also certain creatures will fit certain moods.

Right now I wouldn't be surprised to see the glowing light of a wisp or small fairy/pixie buzzing through the forest. Or at night hear the snarling of a large wolf like beast.

Even make up your own if your comfortable with it!
XD a giant talking centipede with hands and extra eyes working the library.
What I guess I'm saying is keep it fun and not too technical. ;)

@AvemelleI think so. If you were intending on going more Asian with your choices, you could probably see about adding in the Shi, although the Shi are Chinese and not Japanese. Kitsunes could be a thing.

Well, it is already Asian-oriented since we are in Japan so its most likely I'll have to be more 'Asian' in order to be realistic in a sense.

@Avemelle The academy is somewhere unknown, right? Excluding the village, the academy is surrounded by a forest... I think, according to the picture. Perhaps you could add in dryads or nymphs.

So many fantastic animal possibilities... but no love for Chupacabras. Nobody ever suggests Chupacabras. lol.

And I guess I'll have Saito use honorifics because he's gonna be super-proper.

@Yuuta I'd use them if everyone else wants to use them.

@Avemelle I would imagine you could add animal people (i.e. catgirls, dogboys... anything that can be spliced with a human, really). Harpies could be a possibility, and maybe centaurs. Or, alternatively, since this is a magic school, you could add magic creatures such as golems or elementals.

Sounds beautiful ^^ and I had already planned for a few magic creatures that the students would have to find and study. :P

But now for something substantive. Since this takes place in Japan, should we use honorifics and stuff? It's fine if nobody wants to, but it would be good to know if that'll be a thing in this RP.

Eh-- you can if your characters from Japan but the letters were sent out globally so-- it wouldn't really matter I guess .-.
