Giogoula and Volodar waited in front of the embassy for hours, even when the Mittelander police showed up and spoke with one of the embassy guards. When the Ambassador finally showed up, Giogoula was disappointed to only see the stuffy looking man getting out of the vehicle and not someone familiar looking who may or may not be on death's door.

"Well, that was a couple of hours spent for nothing," she muttered. The policewoman turned to her elgafolk companion.

"I don't think there's anything for us to do at this point," she said, pointing her thumb at the street. "I'm heading back to the airship, let the local police nab the Mainer and send him to some prison. If you'd like to stay, go ahead but I'm leaving, maybe stop by a bakery and get a pastry while I'm at it."

Giogoula began her exit from the embassy entrance and into the streets with an annoyed look.

It was with little fanfare that the Hound made his way into the White’s headquarters. His horse exhausted and the the rider little better off. Liam Calvary uniform bore the hard miles of his sprint as he made his way past the gauntlet of guards, aides and officers that had seemingly increased in his absence. No doubt a consequence of the three thousand extra men that had arrived.

The Hound clutched the dispatch as he surmounted the final pair of guards for the war room.

Loan, Alberic and Vassos discussing something of the army that had sprung in Andronika’s absence.

“Sirs.” He started. To the uninformed; his calvary uniform and markings were that of the regular army. To those of the inner circle; he was clearly a Hound. Which meant his word could only have come from a few people as the majority of the inner circle was within walking distance. “Spymaster Broeke sends word. We have an alliance with the imperials in the west. The army is to march for Elvesland. We will meet the Lady and the western imperials on the road.

He passed over the dispatch. The simple seal of a dogs head on the parchment. The words within a more detailed instruction of Liam’s news. Though the dispatch, penned in Kreznik’s hand and bearing his signature, seemed to indicate this was Andronika’s wishes.

The arrival of the Hound and the news of the alliance being formed with the western Imperials was of good timing with Loan.

"Excellent," he said. "I'd say we should begin our trek west then to link up with the western forces." The Prince, however, was skeptical.

"Are we certain that this isn't a trap by the western Korrigan prince?" the Prince asked. Loan shook his head.

"This is Kreznik's handwriting and he is one of the Princess's closest associates," the knight replied. It is strange that he is batting for the boy who tried to kill the Princess months before but she trusts him enough to have him follow her and that would have to do for now. "Besides, the western Emperor wouldn't try and besmirch his honor by laying a trap after inviting us, especially since he would need allies himself to fight against his brother’s forces, currently the largest threat to his own throne.

“Joining up with the Western Imperials would also allow you to see Lady Andronika, a potential bride to be,” he added. Prince Edwin considered for a moment, this was the whole reason why the King wanted him to lead the troops in his stead; the possibility of forging a marriage pact with the Hasikos is a sweet reward especially as the Hasikos family is seeing a good chance of their name restored. “Just showing some respect to Emperor Orrion as a chance to help Lady Andronika reclaim her birthright is a bargain, if you ask me.” The Prince nodded at the prospect, clearing showing some interest in seeing the Princess for the first time.

“You’re right,” he said. “As soon as the men finish their break, we should be ready for the journey westward.”

The Inburian secret policewoman walked around the exteriors of the Commonwealth embassy building at the foreign quarter, taking note of any gates and doors that she passed by. Each of the possible entrances she passed by had guards on standby. She’s also pretty certain that the regular doors would be locked and may have marine guards behind or at close distance. If Carter tries to sneak into the embassy, he will have a difficult time.

When Giogoula reached the alleyway, the first thing she saw was the broken down truck with a driver speaking with a policeman.

“Poor guy,” she thought. The alley way being blocked does feel a bit convenient. However, it would be expected if local authorities are searching for Carter, she wouldn’t be the only one to expect the Ardellian embassy to be one of the places the greedy snake would try and head to, especially if Le Marinier explained what happened to the authorities. She thought of staying to see if the marine guards or maybe even the Ambassador would show up, but she should head back to Volodar.

Giogoula backed out of the alleyway out of sight of the people there and walked back to the front where Volodar should be. Already, she starts seeing local police arriving as soon as she got to where Volodar was standing.

“Guess the manhunt is on,” she said.

Giogoula finally made it to the Ardellian embassy after 30 minutes of walking and asking passerby’s for directions. She hopes that Volodar got her message and is either there or on his way. If he’s not there, then she would have to wait for him and Carter, whom she expects would smell like polluted water, if he’s not already dead.

She scanned around at the embassy exterior, eventually founding an elderly looking Elgavolk in a military jacket leaning against a pole while smoking a pipe. As she got closer, she noticed a scabbard barely visible underneath his coat.

“That’s him,” Giogoula said to herself, getting closer to Volodar while waving her left hand to get his attention. The elga nodded back, after a puff of his pipe and turned to approach Giogoula with an obvious scowl.

"Ms. Giorgiou," he answered once close enough. "So, I presume that the Ardellian's lack of good sense finally overruled any self-preservation left in the man, though he has not been here yet. "

He reached into his pocket and produced a pocket watch. He glanced at the dial before returning it to his vest. "It has been about a quarter of an hour since I arrived. I suspect he must have gotten waylaid. He would not have made it here that quickly without a horse or a car."

“Your presumption is correct, sir,” she answered and explained everything to the Elgavolk, including Carter being wounded by Malloy’s rifle, the failed apprehension by her, Private Robertson, and Le Marinier, and soldiers seeing a man matching his description jumping in the river.

“I figure that if he managed to survive getting shot and falling from an airship, evaded capture by the army, and doesn’t want to hide under bridges like a troll in a fairy tale for the rest of his life, he would probably held over to this embassy for assistance,” she said, looking around for any sign of the Mainer.

"What a damned fool," Volodar scoffed as he glanced down the other side of the street. He drew another puff from the pipe before continuing. "Would you would prefer we merely apprehend him? The embassy might have a complaint if we were to cut down one of their nationals mere yards from their sovereign soil."

“Likely apprehend him if we could handle the stench,” Giogoula agreed. “He attempted to steal from the Imperial treasury when the Empire needs them the most and I’m pretty certain he attacked a few Mittlelander soldiers along the way. He would have to face justice for this mess, even if the embassy complains.”

“That being said,” she added. “I have seen a column of Mittlelander soldiers on the direction to where the airship is docked while I was searcher for Carter. I don’t know what’s about to happen but I hope Arkadios or whoever is there can handle whatever is to come.”

"They shall handle it, I'm sure," Volodar replied. "And if the cur proves resistant, we can cripple the man then send for the shariq woman to keep him alive. Assuming, of course, that she hasn't spent her time working miracles at a hospital."

“We definitely need that Shariq girl if we want him alive since the Mainer is already wounded,” Giogoula said. She looked at the gate of the embassy. “I wonder if the gate is the only entrance to the embassy or if there are opportunities for the Mainer to sneak in.”

She turned to the elga. “There could be side or back gates to the embassy. Should I look around and check?”

"I'm sure there are other entrances, Ms. Giorgiou," he nodded. "But it would be wise to know where they are. I'll keep watch on the street."

“I’ll be right back,” she said and walked to the east of the building, soon away from Volodar’s view. If something happens, she would have to make a rush back to the front gate for help.

"Do what you must, I'm gonna search for him," Giogoula said to Aden and Le Marinier. Before the ramp closed, she went down the rope line and landed on the ground on her feet. She didn't really like sliding down the rope line but Carter is on the loose and she does not want to be far behind that man. Reaching the surface, she saw the mess likely made by Carter. She helped a soldier up who was rubbing his cheeks and was about to ask him if he had seen a bloodied man running but the mess and the sound of gunshots and screams sort of gave her a clue where Carter was.

While sprinting, she saw a couple of soldiers patrolling along the river embankment with their rifles unslung. They appear to be looking for something in the water.

"Excuse me, what is going on, did a bloodied man run through here?" She asked with some innocence in her voice. One of the soldiers turned to her.

"The bloodied man who jumped from the airship and caused a mess in this area? Sure, we think he fell into the river embankment though," he answered, pointing at the water. Giogoula stared at the river embankment and pinched her nose at the smell.

"The fool has either drowned or is getting all the stink mixed in with the blood," the soldier replied. "We'll find his body soon."

"Thank you sir," Giogoula replied and walked alongside the river, taking a glance at any sign of a body. Like the soldiers searching, she saw nothing but the currents. If Carter jumped into the river and hadn’t drowned yet or died from additional injuries, where would he be? He may try and lay low but he is in a foreign place. For a foreigner without a lot of resources, he may try to reach his country’s embassy. It would be a logical location based on her experience. Foreign nationals would seek assistance from their embassies many times. She also remembered when the city police were out tracking down a notorious counterfeiter from Kraine, caught him when he was trying to make a run for the Krainian embassy. If the soldiers at the river embankment already found Carter, that would be nice, but she will take her chances waiting at the embassy. The only time she might smell filth there would be an indicator of Carter’s arrival.

She would have to call someone, maybe Arkadios or Volodar to meet her at the location. She doesn't know where Arkadios is currently located but she remembered that Volodar is staying at a local hotel.

"Guess I'll call the Elgan," she thought to herself. A mass of troops were heading through the streets, to the direction of the airship port. Giogoula paused for a second at the sight of the soldiers before quickening her steps. There is no time to waste now, she should make the call as soon as she can.

The Inburian policewoman stopped at a nearby building with a receptionist inside with a telephone. After politely asking, the receptionist allowed her to make a call. Through the operator, she waited until someone from the hotel picked up.

"Hello, I would like to send a message to one of your guests, Volodar Naesandoral. Inform him to wait for Carter at the Commonwealth embassy," Giogoula said before hanging up the phone. Thanking the receptionist, she then asked for the location of the Ardellian embassy before heading out. She would have to wait for Volodar there and maybe intercept the Mainer before he arrives.

Giogoula was about to protest the soldier's command but stopped herself, it's likely not a good idea to try and pull ranks right now, not while she's still hiding about her affiliation with the Ministry. "Understood," she said, alternating glances between Urses and the diplomat. However, the Favisian medic was fast and fired a round at Carter.

"No wait-!" Giogoula cried as she was too late to stop Urses. She doesn't know if Urses's second bullet hit Carter but the Ardellian started sprinting. She chased after the Mainer, stopping herself from firing any rounds from her revolver to avoid the chance of her shots hitting Aden or anyone else who found their way in the cargo bay.

"Damn this thief," she muttered under her breath as Carter jumped out of the airship, she slowed down her run and turned to the others.

"We have to inform Captain Arkadios and the authorities of James's actions and search for him," Giogoula said. "He can't go far, not while the man is still bleeding."

The policewoman slightly lowered her pistol at the sight of the Favisian medic who explained about what just happened.

"Of course it's that Mainer who's causing trouble," Giogoula muttered under her breath. Who else but the Ardellian to be the one in this mess? Still, there is a chance that the medic is the one trying to get the gold and is framing James Carter.

"If what you say is true, then the Mainer is going to be in a lot of trouble with the authorities," she said. "But you should probably stay on the ground for your own safety, especially since the Mainer is probably still around and armed."

She then focused her attention at the cargo area, making sure to get behind cover in case Carter was feeling suicidal.

"Come out with your hands up, James," she shouted, pointing her revolver at the general direction. "Don't make this any more difficult for yourself!"

Giogoula was at the mess hall of the airship, drinking some coffee. She thought about the meeting she attended with the others and grimaced. She hoped for some good news coming from the frontlines but what Colonel Swaigers said didn't fill her with much confidence. Around 15,000 of the Imperial Army dead through the Morktree, the Calarians beating between the Quinian navy, the Imperial family captured, and Princess Philazoea unaccounted for. She doesn't want to believe that Princess Philazoea is dead but there just hasn't been any news to dispel the worry.

She took another sip from her cup. At least the line is holding strong at Grendell and Neapol with other kingdoms pledging support to the Empire during its darkest hour. How soon they will arrive would be another question. Would they arrive just in time to change the front or would it be too little too late by the time Synaxis forces arrived at the border? The policewoman finished the last of her coffee and placed the empty cup at the dishwasher, washing it before hanging the cup to dry. Giogoula then left the mess hall, taking a walk through the airship to think of what she should do for the time being.

Colonel Swaigers had mentioned that the vessel would likely be manned by an experienced crew from Grendell and used to support the war effort, the military men may continue to serve in the airship or be transferred to the front line. She wouldn't know what the civilians would be doing. Some might stay and continue the fight while others, particularly the foreigners and the women in the crossfire, may be given opportunities to go to a safe area. She would probably be given the option to be moved to a safe area, although she wonders if the military would let her put on a uniform and fight the communalists. She is still part of the Ministry of State Security, the Army might have use for her.

The sound of gunshot and the clattering of materials interrupted her thoughts.

"What the devil? Gunshots?" Giogoula thought, "Is there a spy in the airship?" The gunfire appeared to have came from the cargo area which she's near. The policewoman sighed. Of course the noise is coming from the cargo area. It could be of the people in the crew trying to steal from the Imperial treasury. She took out of revolver and made a beeline to the bay, her footsteps could be heard by anyone near the door. The policewoman went through the open door and the first thing she saw was the private, Aden Robertson with his revolver out, shouting at anyone to freeze. She doesn't expect that soldier to be the one who fired the shot, that small arm does not likely to match the gun shot from the cargo area. Raising her revolver, she stood behind the soldier at a diagonal side.

"Whoever fired that rifle, come out with your hands up!" She shouted while raising her revolver at the general area of the cargo area, her eyes darted around, looking at any possible movements or someone outside of the soldier.
