Zel: A lot of us know that, which is why both the guild and the marketplace try their best tuh make sure this place is safe and defended.
<Snipped quote by Balance>
Zel: No problem. *Puts the stool I grabbed back where I found it.* :*The scrolls are made up of equal parts words and sketches/pictures. There are some myths and legends, but one stands out to you.*
It depicts the tale of some scavengers exploring a hidden ruin. A member wanders away from the others and stumbles upon a weird machine on reserve power. It housed four mid sized dust coated containers, only one of which seemed to have an unusual glow emanating from underneath the dust. As the man reached over and cleared away the dust the machine died, with the glow suddenly bursting out of the container and knocking the man out. He awakes to a small foxlike creature pawing his face and his buddies grouped up near a fire close by. As he makes his way over to his group he notices the creature following him. He goes to shoo it away, but instead it starts to glow and jumps into him without harm, vanishing. The man doesn't tell his buddies, but upon a thought of the creature appearing it jumps out of him and lands on his head. His buddies freak out until they see it just laying upon his head peacefully. He then tells them of the container and the glow, and they figure he has been given a guardian spirit for passing a test of some sort. The story summarizes that the group went on to scavange many ruins and safely return from them all due to the spirit.
Neil: *Watches Soren a bit surprised.* Why the rush my friend? Surely you at least plan on staying the night?
Heh, sorry. It's my study technique. I'll be sticking around; I'm just skimming for points of most interest and then I'll read properly over it later. Hey, what's the general belief around here about spirits?
Zel: Thanks, we've worked hard tuh try and keep some sense of order and civility here. *Puts the stool in front of the bookcase near Soren and climbs up on it to grab and check a few scrolls from where Soren grabbed the archives.*
<Snipped quote by Balance>
Neil: It would indeed, though you're still free to read through it at your leisure if you want. I believe Zel is grabbing what you were originally looking for right now. Zel: *After checking a few out, I put all but two scrolls back and hop off of the stool before handing them to you.* I think ya were lookin' fur these.
*Grins* Sorry. Thanks. *Takes the scrolls and reads them rapidly, again apparently taking notes*
Zel: I doubt we have as many as others like yurselves do, but they still happen every now and then. *Looks over at Soren and chuckles before grabbing a stool from a corner of the room.*
<Snipped quote by Balance>
Neil: *Looks up from the book and after seeing the books you've gathered laughs a little.* No disrespect my friend, but you're reading some of it, as those archives are about part of our town's history. I should have mentioned that we call most of our books here archives, as they simply aren't of the same quality as our ancestors were.
Whoops. That explains why there was so little of what I was searching for, other than the occasional reference.
Neil: No problem. *There seems to be cohierent info in the books you grabbed, but nothing about any myths.*
*Gathers as much information as I can about the world right after the fall and following it, apparently writing notes on a paper* How early in these past few hundred years does concrete history appear?
Neil: Not much concrete until now, mostly our modern myths and legends. I believe there is a scroll or two that has what I consider to be a reasonable chance of being somewhat accurate. They're likely three shelves down from the top and about a scroll or two to the right of the fifth tabbed archive on the shelf next to you. *Says this all without looking up from the book, still turning the pages.*
Thanks! *Goes over to the shelf to pull down the books and starts flipping through them*
@darkwolfx37 are you waiting for something I don’t mean to sound impatient; I’m just asking if there’s anything preventing you from posting atm. i can’t help but sound hopelessly hypocritical though oops
Neil: It is, but it's best to worry about what we can do. Zel: I'm agreein' with that last point. Besides, if it's all been discovered before, it can be discovered again given time. Neil: Indeed it can my friend.
<Snipped quote by Balance>
*Some of them have loose little tabs attached to the binding, but not much beyond that.* Neil: *Still leafing through the book carefully without looking up.* So is there anything you would like to know?
Oh, right. What’s the earliest information you have after the fall of your original civilisation?
*The room is mostly a study filled to the brim with papers, hand bound books, and writing utensils, though a bed in the corner also indicates that it's also a place of rest. Zel: They don't, but ya can use them tuh get one going. Neil: *Turns around surprised.* I didn't think you would tag along Zel, you usually aren't interested in stuff like this. Zel: Call it a gut feelin', but I think I might be this time.
<Snipped quote by Balance> Neil: *Takes it, and after walking over to my desk, opens it up carefully before gently leafing through it's contents and carefully reading them over at a decent pace.*
