Strange World: Recruiting Page

Hello Everyone,

I started an RP a couple days ago and am currently still looking for players. I'm only looking to have 5 people involved. Right now, there is myself and one other that have made a character. I also have one person that has claimed to be making a character as well. So there are currently 2 perhaps 3 spots still left.

Instead of writing random posts in the thread to bump it up, I'm creating this thread specifically for recruiting purposes. Here is a little info about the RP:

This RP is an original concept. Basically, humans from across history are being abducted and placed in a strange new world. Here you don't get hungry or tired, money is no object, and all injuries heal in a matter of minutes. As the story progresses, your character can become endowed with great super powers; so if you like super power type RPs, this is right up your alley.

The point of this RP revolves around the question, "Why are we here?" More than just the typical existential question of life, you will literally be trying to figure out 'why you are here'. In fact, "where is here?" is just as valid of a question. I currently have many plot twists and possibilities in mind that can change depending on what we all write as a team.

Strange World

I have done a few minor updates to the opening OOC post, most notably to the Characters section. Please take a look at these changes, as they may clear up some questions. Other minor changes were made in order to cut back on redundant coding.

Are all the NPC's and big characters such as Mad Merman free range? Or are they controlled exclusively by you?

I was assuming that NPC's are free range while those founding members are your personal characters. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ricardo blinked in disbelief as he stood on the sidewalk. How did he get here and- What the hell? Was that a flying car? At first he believed he was dreaming. He even tried the classical "pinch yourself" technique and damn did it hurt. Even then though, he was not completely convinced that he wasn't dreaming. The alternative would be that he had mysteriously landed smack in the middle of some futuristic world.

Taking in his surroundings a little more, something strange caught his attention. A couple blocks away he swore that he could see clay buildings that would be common in some older Mexican cities. As he walked toward this section of the city, he noticed that even the roads in the area were more rustic. Despite the elderly charm of the neighborhood, hover cars and floating holograms still filled the air.

"Well hello!" A street barterer seemed to be calling out to Ricardo from the confines of his stall, surrounded by distinctly Mexican artifacts and clothing. "Yes! You! Come on over! I got some things you might like!"

Ricardo walked toward the barterer hesitantly, "Um hi. I don't have any money."

"That's okay new boy! Everything is free here. If you see anything you like, please take it."

"What? Free? Wait, why did you just call me 'new boy'?"

"You did just arrive here didn't you? You're still wearing your grey garbs."

The reflection of an antique mirror provided Ricardo with confirmation. He was wearing a plain grey suit. Unfortunately, none of the classical Mexican clothing that the street vendor was offering peaked his interest.

"Oh, no worries my friend! It doesn't hurt my feelings at all. Tell me about your fashion sense, I'll point you in the right direction."

"Umm... okay. I like to wear black casual clothing."

After a bit more probing, the street vendor understood what Ricardo was looking for and pointed him down a street. All Ricardo had to do was walk six city blocks through a couple other neighborhoods and he would be in a place more his style. He tried to ask the vendor about where he was but the only response he received was, "Does it matter? You are here. Have fun!". Ricardo tried to push the subject but the vendor easily evaded the question by starting to shout out to others walking the street. Strange, the man seemed far to happy to be just giving things away.

Ricardo decided to take the man's advice and go where he suggested. What was going on? No money necessary, really? Was everything free in this city, or was that man just a lunatic?

I'm going to go ahead and start on my first IC post. I'll have my character wander around the city confused and such. Perhaps find a clothing store and get some new clothes, being that we all start off with an ugly gray track suit. You can wait for me to post if you want to build off mine. Or you can just work on it independently and our characters can meet later. The choice is yours.

I like your character a lot. A little girl from the past, lost in a strange new world, perfect. First erase my little parenthesed (3 to 5 paragraph description). Then go ahead and copy that into the character section.

Just one question; what do you mean by main character & side character? Sorry if that's a silly question :0c

Awesome! There are no bad questions. Your main character will be the person that you build all the way from the moment they find themself in this world. Through that character, you will go on diverse adventures and obtain new powers.

Side characters are more like static support characters. They are there to help drive the plot and give the main characters more people to interact with. But you will not be character building these guys and gals.
