Phantom Leech

Powers:

Phantom Mode: Phantom Leech is basically just a raw collection of sentient energy. In his/her most energy saving state, he/she is very spread out, a barely conscious entity of raw particles. In this state, his/her only motivation is base survival. With concentration, he/she can pull together enough to create a ghost like image of his/her self. In this secondary state, the rest of his/her energy is still spread out and around the image he/she chooses to create for him/herself. Also in this secondary state, he/she is able to pass through walls, fly, and communicate with others. On rare occasions, Phantom Leech can even pull together enough to form an actual body with super human capabilities such as supreme intelligence and a typical super human physique. He/she can only hold this third form for a few minutes before running out of energy. Phantom Leech spends most time in the second state, as it allows him/her to have a fully conscious mind while not draining energy too quickly. It is also important to note that raw energies such as heat and electricity can charge Phantom Leech's life force very quickly while in Phantom Mode; this also means that his energy consumption is much less during the day time.

Leech Mode: Similar to a ghostly possession, Phantom Leech can merge into the body of any living creature. Once inside, the target will start to age at twice the rate that they normally would. This is another way Phantom Leech recharges his own life force. Once inside the body, Phantom Leech can attempt to control the nervous system. In less cognitively aware creatures such as animals, this means full control over all bodily functions. For regular humans or other sentient beings, Phantom Leech must fight for even the slightest control over the body. For psychically or magically enhanced minds, there is nothing he/she can do besides siphon life force and hide out.

Weaknesses:

Cognitive Instability: As previously mentioned, Phantom Leech's time is spent mostly in the second form. With only a partial amount of his/her consciousness brought together to create a translucent body; not all the lights are on. He/she can have serious mood swings and has difficulty coming up with strategies. Also, his/her memory in this state is sketchy at best. Furthermore, all his/her time in the body of others has planted memories that are not even his/her own, enough to confuse him/her at times.

Energy consumption: Phantom Leech's instability causes aging at an astonishing rate. His/her preferred secondary state alone uses up approximately 50 years worth of human life energy in just one year. To maintain his ultimate 3rd form for just 10 minutes, he must use up approximately 1,000 years worth human life energy.

Physical Description:

Phantom Leech no longer has any knowledge of what he/she used to look like when he/she was human. In fact, he/she doesn't even know for a fact that he/she has ever been a human. Because of this, the different forms he/she may take can change on any given day, but the following two pictures are forms that he/she takes more often than others:

Personality:

Phantom Leech has a severe case of multiple personality disorder, due to all memories that he/she has received from the bodies he/she has inhabited over time. The only thing he/she knows to be true is that in order to stay alive, he/she must feed.

Origin / Background:

Phantom Leech has no clue where he/she came from. In fact, remembering things that happened even a year ago is difficult. He/she simply lives in the moment, feeding to stay alive and killing for entertainment. Some say that he/she is a curse from the god(s) above that has been around since the dawn of time. Some speculate that he/she is just another terribly conflicted mutant. No one knows for sure.

Sorry everyone, I didn't mean to post in the IC tab early. I wish I could delete that post but all I can do is edit it now.

I'm working on my character right now. When I'm done, I'll edit that IC post to be an actual story related post.

Omega League

The car zoomed around the track hitting speeds up to 150 miles per hour. The driver had little warning when his hands suddenly jerked the steering wheel hard to the right. The car trying to pass him on the outside almost spun out of control but managed to keep a hold of the road.

"Oh! And Jeff Gordon side swipes Kyle Bush! I can't believe what I'm seeing folks! This is not like him!" The announcer was not the only one worried. All race Mr. Gordon had been making dangerous moves.

Even his pit-crew was trying to calm the man down. "What the hell was that man! Jeff! If you can't hold it together out there, you're going to need to pull into the pits and call it a day. We can't have you crashing out there."

"I didn't do that on purpose! My hand just slipped! I'm fine!" Jeff did not want to give up on this race. It was the last race of the season and he had to place first or second.

His pit-crew was less than pleased with his response, "Well, that makes the sixth time you've 'slipped' already, and we're not even halfway through the race! Maybe you should let us take a look at your power steering."

"No! I'm fine. I got this!" Why was he being so unreasonable? He couldn't understand it. It's like there was a tiny voice in his head pushing him forward, regardless of how reckless he was becoming.

Everything seemed to settle down for a while after that. The final lap was approaching and Jeff was having no more slip ups. Then the oppritunity presented itself, he could take first. He didn't even need to come in first to lift the grand trophy, not when first place was some low ranking driver. But the voice was returning.

Leech kept repeating the same thing over again. "If you're not first, you're last. If you're not first, you're last. If you're not first, YOU'RE LAST!" Little did Jeff realize that he had started chanting these words out loud. His crew was yelling at him to calm down, but it wasn't getting through. The voice in this head was all that mattered. He had to make this pass! He had to stop the man in front! He had to end this race! He had to see fire!

The front passenger side of Jeff's car hit the back end of the car in front, causing both drivers to loose control. Car after car smashed into what was becoming the biggest crash in NASCAR history, and Leech was loving every second of it.

Strange World

This RP is a reboot of a former RP. I think things will work better this time, with a smaller team of writers where each is able to control multiple characters. Since this is a reboot, it only feels fair to give a heads up to everyone that was writing on the original RP, False Paradise. I hope one or two of you are still interested! Thanks!

Ricardo wears mostly black and the occasional eyeliner. While not considering his style as goth, others tend to place that title upon him. Abducted in the dead of winter, he is paler than normal, considering his half Mexican heritage.

Personality:

Ricardo is a fairly quiet person most of the time, but having experience with stage acting, he can be lively when he wants to be. If you were to bump into him on the street he would be more likely to give you a polite head nod than actually say anything. Once you get to know him, he will open up, revealing his goofy care free side.

Biography:

Ricardo grew up in the state of Tennessee in the USA. He was raised by his Mexican mother and Tennessee native father and seven years elder sister. His home was located far away from any large city, atop a very rural mountain. He went to high school in the nearest town, thirty minutes away from his home by car. Eventually he would move away to college in a medium sized Tennessee city.

While in college, Ricardo discovered the world of acting. Going to school, acting whenever he had the chance, and working at a restaurant, he never had a dull moment. He even found time to get into trouble a few times with drugs and alcohol. When his college career came to an end, the young man decided to move away to a larger city, one where he could act professionally.

Following his heart, the young man landed in Atlanta, Georgia. He quickly obtained a job as a server at a popular restaurant. There he struggled to make a living in a much more expensive city, while trying to audition for professional plays. As he entered his first winter in Atlanta, he was feeling disappointed that he had not been cast in any plays for the grand total of eight months that he had been there.

By no means beaten, Ricardo was looking on hopefully to the spring of next year. Unfortunantly, he would not see the next year. Going to sleep alone, and slightly drunk, was the last thing he remembered before opening his eyes to this strange new world.

The Plot

This section will update in order to sum up major plot points as they unfold. This will help observers catch up quickly if they wish to start following our story.

The Beginning

Chapter 1

There is an inexplicable force abducting humans throughout history. These humans are not people of note; they are average people with average lives. Abducted in their sleep, they find themselves standing wide awake on the sidewalks of a strange city, wearing nothing but a plain grey track suit.

The flying cars and holographic televisions that litter the skies upset some more than others, depending from which time period each person arrived. Around every corner, one will find different architecture from different points in human history. Walking in one direction long enough, one will discover something even stranger, an invisible wall that circles the entire city. Unlike glass, this completely invisible barrier looks out over a vast world beyond the city. It is also apparent that the city is perched high atop a mountain, as the world beyond is far below.

With enough time, one will discover another great mystery. From the moment one arrives, the sensations of hunger, thirst, and exhaustion disappear. Substance is consumed soley for taste. Our bodies seem to be in a constant state of rejuvenation; injuries, while still painful, heal in a matter of minutes.

Furthermore, currency, one of mankind's greatest inventions, is not even relevant here. There are numerous stores and restaurants, all ran by super realistic AI that simply give things out for free. Poverty and class division are long forgotten. There are no homes, but rather, free hourly accommodations for anyone wanting to relax.

To top everything off with one last phenomenon, the sky never changes. It is always a gentle light blue. Standing at the edge of the city, looking out far beyond the invisible wall, one will see distant signs of clouds and darkness.

Is there a way out of this city? Why would one want to leave this paradise of a city anyways? Why are we being kept here? Who is keeping us here? How did we get here? Fret not. These are normal questions. All new arrivals have them at first. Maybe you are better off leaving these questions unanswered... maybe...

Chapter 2

After completing The Casino Trials quest, you will discover an underground city. Life here has some similarities to the city above. Here, there is still no need to eat, rest, or worry about the body in any way; in fact, injuries heal even quicker, instantaneously for smaller damage. Money is also a completely useless thing in this area as well, as the shops are still 'take what you please'. Aside from these similarities, the two cities couldn't be any different.

From a distance, you can tell that the architecture of this city is consistent. The buildings are built out of clay and some are borrowed into the cave walls. One might think that this clay structure would equal short three level high buildings, but aucontraire, multiple buildings tower high above the others with ease. One might also suspect that an underground city made of clay would be somewhat underdeveloped. When in actuality, the lights below change from one color to the next coordinated to the sound of music. It's as if the entire city is one giant rave party.

Once inside the city, you will see that 'one giant rave party' is not a far off description. The people in the streets dance as they walk, and clothing is hardly concealing for most. The clothing issue could stem from the fact that the temperature sits at a constant high, especially if you walk too near to one of the canals. The canals are filled with lava that flows at a thin syrupy pace. Wild children and teenagers get their thrills daring each other to dip body parts into the lava, burning their skin and muscle off till only the bone is left, then watching as the muscles and skin regenerate right in front of their eyes.

If you think life on the streets looks too wild, you surely don't want to enter one of the loud clubs that practically litter the landscape. In these establishments, you can find everything from lustful scenes, gambling with body parts as wagers, and of course the popular sport of fighting.

Fighting has become ingrained in the inhabitants of this city, adults and children alike. Due to the miraculous healing effects, fights never end in a knockout or serious damage. Winners are decided at the end of a time limit. At which point, the crowd will either applaud their favorite fighter or a panel of judges will determine a winner. There are competitive fighting leagues for every body type: small children, teenagers, men, women, short people, tall people,the elderly, you name it. If you want to fight, there is a league for you. Champions of these leagues are regarded as celebrities. You don't have to be in a league to end up in a fight however, as long time locals love picking on new arrivals.

One might think that drugs and alcohol would not be an issue, with the bodies ability to regenerate so quickly, but one would be wrong. There is a secret network of dealers that will be happy to give you a vial of "liquid light", a substance that will both get you drunk/high and give you a burst of incredible strength and speed, lasting about five minutes per vial. Since there is no currency, dealers tend to ask favors in exchange for the substance, but these favors are not always pretty. Many people become slave to these dealers in order to chase the incredibly fleeting power.

Beyond the city is a dark landscape with ravenous hound like creatures that love to pick off wanderers. Only the truly insane venture off in this direction. The screams of those fools can be heard as the beasts rip and tear them apart continuously while there bodies try to heal just as quickly. After many days, these people usually return. Most stories are just bloody descriptions of being ripped apart for days or even weeks till the creatures finally become bored and let them return to the city.

At two opposite points along the cave wall, there is an elevator. If you take this elevator, it will open up to one of the secret buildings in the city above. The elevator runs both ways, so you can go back and forth as much as you like, but the elevator won't move if there is anyone that hasn't completed "The Casino Trials".

It is important to note that there are 4 types of characters:

Main Characters:

Each player gets one of these characters. This is the character you enter the world as, your avatar if you will. Through this character, you will grow and go on many adventures.

Side Characters:

Each player can have multiple side characters. They do not grow in the same way that main characters do. They are people/beings that our main characters discover and befriend along the journey. Also unlike main characters, these characters can be written off and come back at a later time; when you do this, you have the option to make them a little more powerful, with GM approval of course.

Static Characters:

These characters are created by the GM for very specific reasons, such as boss battles for quests. They are characters that anyone can control, but your character's exp points (or characters in the case of multiple main characters working together) must be at a certain point to interact successfully with them.

Minor Characters:

These are characters that you can create within the text of any of your posts. Their purpose is just to have something for your main and side characters to interact with temporarily. These can be civilians, AIs, or minor baddies.

How to Play

* To apply to this RP, post a main character in the Character tab. Follow the format provided in first post of the Character section.

* When approved, your character will appear in the 'characters' section of this post.

* After approval, go to the IC tab and post as your main character, who should be standing confused on any random sidewalk in the city, dressed in a plain gray track suit.

* If you want to add a side character, submit that character to the Character tab just the same as your main. except, follow the side character formatting.

* In every IC post, write as your main first. Then you may optionally write as one or multiple of your side characters.

* Based on how often you post and your successes within the story, you will gain exp points. I will update everyone's experience points via this opening post. You may then copy these points to your character sheet. These points help you advance past check points. This will be easy to understand as we go.
