Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Ricardo was only halfway surprised by the small girl's commitment to press forward, but if she made it through similar trials as he, there truly was no reason to doubt her bravery.

Glancing back to her, at the sound of her last words, he noticed her feet. She was bare foot. Ahead lie hot coals that eventually turned into fire. Even if his feet could heal, the shoes would most definitely turn to molten rubber. Rubber might even fuse to his foot during the healing process. This in mind, he began taking off his shoes.

Just as he was removing his socks, a new face entered the room. He was a wirey blonde boy, and he didn't seem to have much to say. But Ricardo felt as if they shared a bond already, just as with the girl. They had all just went through similar trials. Instead of words, Ricardo simply gave a polite downward head nod and a respectful smile. He hoped that was enough of a greeting for the boy.

Ricardo then turned back to the archway. Forward he walked until he took his first barefooted steps on the hot coals. At first the pain was easily bearable, but after a few more steps it became harder to ignore.

On one step in particular, he was unable to step over and contort his body enough to miss a strand of barbed wire. It caught his pant leg and he had to pull hard to rip it free. He then paused. Ahead of him, the coals glew much hotter, and he knew that a few rips in his clothes was not all he would get from the barbed wire.

He wondered if the two could tell how much pain he was in at the moment. Though, they would find out for themselves shortly, assuming they weren't going to take the easy way out.

Onwards he walked.

Okay. That makes sense as to why you've delayed your post. No, both @classpet and I have posted since your last post. And, of course, eighteen hours have past. Those are the requirements. You can post as any time.

There is no need to wait on @Airalin. Though, she too can post at any time. The only two people held in gridlock at the moment is @classpet and myself.

And yes, you've got the understanding of the content correctly! I look forward to your next post. Thanks for asking questions!
Ricardo tore his eyes away from the memory. He could stay here watching this entire day unfold. He could watch years unfold. But eventually, he would reach the point where she lies to him, cheats on him the first month they graduate high school. He would have to watch himself spiral out of control as he developed a horrible drinking problem in college.

No, this was a story that Ricardo already knew. He couldn't re-live it anymore. Moving on from the window pane, he tried to focus more on the path before him. He walked for what seemed like hours, ignoring the windows as best he could. Eventually he reached a white door.

As he opened the door and stepped through, he was greeted by another white room. In the center of the room stood the little girl from before. Ricardo wondered for a minute if she had to go through torture as brutal as his own. But this thought didn't last long. He felt ashamed when he realized that his heart was hardened past the point of actually caring. Maybe he would soften again one day, but not today.

He then took note of the rest of the room. Doors lined three of the walls. While one contained two archways: "To Safety" / "To the Truth".

How stupid, he thought. After all they had put him through, they actually expected him to turn back. No, he hadn't suffered this damn much just to give up.

Looking over to the little girl, he asked, "I'm going through there." signaling to the pain filled hallway with one absent minded finger. "How about you?"

Ricardo stood in the metal corridor as the door shut behind him. A few paces ahead he could see a black framed window pane. A thought crossed his mind; maybe he could smash his way out of this hell by literally smashing the window and climbing out.

As he approached, two major things seemed off. One, there didn't seem to be any glass. If there was glass there, it would have to be the cleanest glass imaginable. Secondly, his father was just on the other side.

The man was playing with a baby, holding its hand, helping it walk. Ricardo's mother stood opposite of his father, calling the baby to her. And between them both was Ricardo's older sister at the age of eight.

It was obvious what he was watching, a scene from his own past. Confused, Ricardo reached to the window only to find his hand stopped by an invisible wall. A part of him knew that his effort would go wasted, but that didn't stop him from swinging his fist as hard as he could. The pain was excruciating as his knucles shattered against the solid barrier, but this pain did not surprise or upset. It was not as bad as the snake venom, and he knew his hand would heal immediately.

Finally, tearing himself away from the sight before him, Ricardo began to walk. Window after window, he watched as his life unfolded before his eyes until... he saw her, his first love.

Putting both his hands up against the window, he watched as a 17 year old version of himself walked closely behind the slender brunette through the woodland trails. Through a river, across logs, and over slippery rocks they went, eventually arriving at the top of a waterfall. A single tear ran down Ricardo's face as he watched them kiss. The scene was framed perfectly by the trees and sky beyond the water's edge.

Ricardo felt compelled to stay, to watch the show for as long as it would play. As far as he could remember, this particular day was one of his fondest memories to date.

Will Adam or the red girl appear anywhere during the quest(if called)?(such as in the room with the archways)

Good question. Nope, you are cut off from them during the trails.
I see your opening post and am very pleased with it! I feel like I know Andy already.

As far as experience points go, I'm going to leave your points at 11. This is because you would assume that you would have been lvl 10 for Evette to appear, and this post would make 11.

Please observe the 18 hour and two person rules before you post again. I love your enthusiasm! And again, I'm happy you've decided to join us!
@Invader Len

Alright my friend, your character is registered in the OOC opening post. You are now ready to rock and roll!
It felt as though entire days passed in that hellish torture room, though it was probably just a few hours. Time had become meaningless. Eventually Ricardo became desensitized to the pain, accepting of his fate.

That's when his body went limp. Holding his breath, he resigned himself to lying at the bottom of the water for the rest of his life. Coincidentally, this was all that was needed for him to start floating on his back. Still being bitten and with a dismal view of the ceiling, he closed his eyes and cleared his mind. There was no use struggling anymore; there was truly nothing left he could do.

It may have been that the snakes were biting less frequently, or maybe it was the feeling of the hard floor on his back. Either way, Ricardo finally opened his eyes. The roof was far away, the floor around him only slightly damp, and the last of the snakes was pulling it's fangs out of his neck.

He sat up and watched as the snake slithered into one other holes in the corner of the room. He was now alone and mentally exhausted, but he had never been calmer. The lights in the room went out... and not even knowing why, he smiled.

Just then a door opened, greeting him with a light, inviting him to continue. For a moment, he considered staying put. It wasn't that he was afraid of what lied ahead; he wasn't sure if he could ever feel fear again. No, he had just become lazy. But something greater inside him told him to stand, to walk toward the light... and so he did.
Yup! That sounds about right! Let me know if there's anything about my character you'd like me to change!

Nope. There is no need to change anything. I love this character you've created already. In this world, he will be able to speak and hear. Brilliant!

It makes me think of those YouTube videos where deaf people get special hearing aids and color blind people get special glasses.

Please post your character sheet into the character sheet section as soon as you like. I'll link it to the OOC opening post as soon as I see it.
@Invader Len

Yup she brings your character to the back room in the casino. There you go through the hallway. And find your door. At this moment, all the other characters are either in the nightmare room, the maze of memories, or at the archway.

From your question, you want your character to begin at entering the nightmare room? That works for me. The bare minimum experience points you would have by that point would be 11. (10 to get Evette's 'follow me' message and 11 to follow her to the casino and start the quest.)

Your character will therefore start with 11 exp points and have 13 after your first post, because all quest posts are double points.

Let me know if I'm wrong, if you'd like to start at any other point.
