Balthazar stood upon the broken statue of Capitol City's founding mayor. Around him, minor demons listened and cheered as he shouted on and on about destroying the heavens and punishing those that interfere. His voice was deep, booming and above all, menacing. It was obviously being helped along by some dark, magical means.

I've created my character for this RP (at least my first one). On that note, you can only control one character at a time. I know that I'll end up falling out of being active at some point in the distant future; if that happens, I will accept my fate like everyone else must, and create a new character.

Personality: Balthazar is as ruthless as demons get. He takes pleasure in seeing others drown in sorrow or crushing the bones of his enemies. His laugh can send shivers down any mortal's spine.

Biography: Some say Balthazar was one of the first Angels to join in the revolution against heaven. Some say that he used to be a mortal. Either way, since his arrival in hell, he has been relentlessly trying to escape. Some say he has gone mad with blind rage. Others have described him as a battlefield tactician. One thing is for sure, he will stop at nothing to accomplish his goals. What those goals truly are, only he knows.

History

It is said that Capitol City was once the most vibrant city in the world. Art, culture, green energy, it had it all. A true paradise on Earth. Unfortunately, it would be the first place to fall. Its pleasant charm made it a prime target when the forces of evil began their march of terror. It is now the primary battle ground for the war between Angels and Demons.

As reality has been warped and time been distorted, the original location of Capitol City has become clouded in mystery. What's more, if anyone were to know of Capitol Cities exact origins, most would not care. Survival is the only thing on anyone's minds these days.

History

When the fabric of reality began to crumble and the demons began their assault on Capitol City, the downtown area was first to be hit. The demons strategically picked this area due to its central location and high population density. Death and panic spread quickly as demons crawled out from fiery cracks in the earth. The word rampage would not come close to describing the unbridled horrors that awaited the unsuspecting citizens, not in the slightest.

Today, the sewers beneath downtown overflow with rivers of molten lava, threatening to spread across the entire city. Demons run free here, venturing out in waves to cause chaos in other parts of the city. They frequently return to their new home to rest or torture captured enemies. It is practically a death sentence to step foot near this part of the city.

Where the light shines strongest, so too shall the shadow be strong.

The shadow of the great city, the slums was where those who did not make their fortune fell to. Criminals, charlatans, beggars, and all manner of people could be found here. There were those who managed to keep an honest living, like the run down shrine offering blessings, but these people were rare and tended to group together for protection. Organized crime syndicates, gang wars and other such things used to keep the understaffed police force stationed here in a state of constant headache, but now, most of them tended to ignore one another in favor of releasing their anger and violent tendencies towards any creature they recognized as 'demons'.

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well. I have started creating the RP, as promised. I have just finished the first OOC post. This will be the majority of the work. Now I have to create the character sheets.

The RP is simply entitled: Apocalypse

Plot:

The year as we know it, 2050. The location, planet Earth:

Life is not what it used to be. Things used to be so much more simple. Virtual reality, self driving cars, nanotechnology, and so on, these used to be the most exciting things to talk about... not anymore.

In recent years, supernatural phenomena have become more commonplace, inexplicable to the scientific methods that we have come to rely upon so dearly. We used to think that technology could bring us together, maybe even bring an end to war and poverty. Little did we know, human innovation would be nothing in the face of divine chaos.

It all began with increased "ghost sightings" and "monster attacks". At first, these happenings were explained away as elaborate hoaxes or a new form of terrorism. In retrospect, that would have been much more preferable to the now accepted truth, "The world is ending. Reality as we know it is coming to a conclusion. And there is nothing we can do to stop it."

Good and evil now have shape. Legends and horrors from our childhoods have materialized. Future, past, and present have become one and the same. On one side, we have beings out to destroy all that is decent, the demons. On the other side, we find the angels, fighting the battle to preserve peace, happiness, and love. In the middle reside poor earthbound souls, trying to make sense of their new reality.

You must decide. Where does your alliance reside? Good or Evil? Will you fight? Will you flee? How will you survive in a world wrought in unimaginable catastrophe?

Welcome to your worst nightmare... or perhaps... your own dark playground.

The 3 Warring Sides

Angels:

Angels have been around since the beginning of time. They are shining beings of beautiful glory as well as the spirits protecting nature itself. They have disguised themselves as humans, gods, and magical creatures of ole.

Demons:

If any legendary story was ever true, it was the one where a select few heavenly angels rebelled. They sought freedom from the archaic rules which bound them to their blind brethren. Demons are angels, corrupted, or enlightened, depending on who you ask.

In-Between:

Then there are those that were born after the universe came to be. Bound by no rules, they were (and are to this day) free to choose. They are the humans, animals, and all that are sentient, without being destiny bound to the will of another.

Getting Started

In order to get started, you will only need to complete three simple tasks:

One, you must create a character based on the character sheet located within the character section of this RP. There is no need to await approval to begin posting, but beware, any characters stacked to be OP will be monitored. God modding is (like most RPs) HIGHLY frowned upon. PM me if this is happening, I will do my best to resolve the situation or get the offender banned (if extreme).

Two, you must find your writing partners. Read through the IC section carefully to find active users; then connect with them OOC or via PM to begin collaborating. This is a helpful bit of advice; random IC "jump-ins" can result in being ignored or the derailing of an ongoing plot.

Three, begin writing, and be consistent about it. If you do not post as your character IC for three weeks AND do not post OOC for one week, your character will be marked as inactive.

When a character goes inactive, anyone can kill off that character, even someone on the "same side". At that point, two people from the other two factions (one each) have one week IRL to battle for the soul of that inactive character. To battle for a soul, simply make an IC post in response to that character's death. After the week is up, I will roll dice using this site's dice mechanic. If no one responded in challenge, there is obviously no dice roll; the killer gets the soul.

Once you "have the soul of another character", you can bring that character back onto the battlefield as your minion. If it was your character who died, you'll have to create a new character if you wish to rejoin this RP.

Locations

At the top of all your IC posts, you should title with the name of a location. New locations can be added by anyone via the Character section of this RP. Locations can be any place imaginable, found anywhere within human history, folk lore, or even in the recesses of your own twisted mind. Locations become "controlled" by a faction when no one from another faction has posted in the location for over two weeks:

It seems as there is enough interest. I'm going to build the RP now. It will probably take me the rest of the night, but it should be worth it. Everything that has been mentioned up until now is being taken into consideration. I will revisit this interest check periodically while building the actual RP, so if anyone wants to add more suggestions or ask more questions, feel free to do so!
